Chapter 139
Chapter 139
Han clicked the first one and a video came up. A man who just finished arranging the camera that would be videoing leaned back before smiling. He looked rather young. Thirty years maybe.
[Input Log. Daily Entry. Day one. This is Dr. Wan Young. I’ve successfully made it into the secret project labeled only as “Dragon”. I know I shouldn’t say this in an official log, but I’m very excited! Today is the beginning of it all!]
Han skipped it and moved further down as Yue came to stand beside him.
[Input Log. Daily Entry. Day fifty. I’ve managed to isolate a small part of the plutonium sample given to the lab, but an accident recently made it too volatile. It seems that whoever transported it shook the box like an idiot and caused it to react internally! We’re waiting on another sample, but only God knows how long that would take]
Han skipped a bit more. In the former video, the scientist looked very tired. But in this new one. He looked weary.
[Input Log. Daily Entry. Day one thirty-five. A recent discovery brought to our notice that plutonium would not have the necessary radiation. I think it has something to do with the ionic combination not meeting up to the necessary number. We’re going to have to find a new elemental sample. But as of late, no one has managed to find any Rithium or Uranium. I fear they might shut us down if we don’t find something soon]
Han looked towards Yue for a moment and Yue shrugged. Han then moved to another video.
[Input Log. Daily Entry. Day two-fifty. This is a secret log. I… Don’t think I need to submit this one to the authorities, yet. There was a rumor in the black market of an element that might work for this. It was once used to create a drug, and so I didn’t know how much we would be able to extract from it. But I think I’ll go meet this man. This wisteria might be our final hope to save our project]
The name wisteria made Han’s eyes widen as he realized that this would not be a very happy ending. He skipped to a few videos forward.
[Input Log. Daily Entry. Day three hundred. It works! It actually has the necessary amount of radiation I need! Can you believe it! Something this small having such a high radiation estimate! And the half-life is only half of what plutonium and uranium possess! I combined the wisteria with plutonium and the reaction was too amazing to put into words! I feel like this could be a new scientific breakthrough! It’s amazing! I have to submit this report as soon as possible! The higher-ups will surely allow us to go through with it!]
Han moved even further forward, but he didn’t see any other recordings but one. He clicked it open and the first thing he noticed was that the environment was dark. Top dark. There was only a small light shining on the face of the scientist and it looked like he was hiding under a table or something. The man looked really terrified.
[I… I need your help! Anybody! If you find this then you have to lock the entire base down! Things are running around here! Dangerous thing! It has to be that wisteria! I don’t know how the outside world looks like now, but ever since we did that test fire, these… zombies have been forming non-stop! If there is still anyone alive up there, you have to lock the base! Make sure that none of them get out of here!]
The camera went dark, and Han hummed as static filled the screen. Han checked the date on the video and it read only two days from the current date Han left in the past. He would have to work fast if he wanted to stop this.
He walked over to the railing and floated over it before he activated his skill Telekinetics.
The entire bottom half of the nuclear warhead shook on the ground before it began to float up towards him. It was nearly two hundred times his size and weighted hundreds of thousands of tons, but Han carried it like it was nothing. Han brought it up till it was near him and then he floated towards its haul. He popped open a small portion where he knew the nuclear warhead’s extra fuel would be stored and he narrowed his eyes as he saw the plutonium and wisteria used for the warhead.
No wonder things went down to hell. The wisteria here was dormant until the idiots decided to send a freaking nuclear warhead out. That amount of heat must have made the Wisteria sublimate to a gas before it then spread around the base. There wouldn’t be any survivors from this much Wisteria.
If they didn’t turn into zombies, then the overdose would kill them. Han squeezed his hand and the entire bottome half of the rocket bent and folded into a ball. He then dropped it back to the floor and floated back to Yue.
He needed to find where they keep their launch codes. From the way things were looking, it was obvious that their test launch did not go as planned. They might have planned to send it to the desert in the west or maybe even the sea in the east, but instead, it landed right here in City C. It was not even a debate as to who caused it to end up like that.
Tyrian, you bastard. Even when you’re dead, you still cause issues for me.
From the look in Yue’s eyes, Han knew she also came to the same conclusion that he did. Both of them moved deeper into the facility to find those launch codes.
.. ..
From his knowledge, Han knew that the best place where the military would hide their codes would be the office of the second highest-ranking officer. The highest-ranked would be the obvious choice to go to, but it was usually the second in command who held the codes.
He moved to the office of the deputy commander and found a computer open on a desk there. There was a zombie in the room as well, but Han easily killed it with a flick of his finger. He moved to the computer and quickly hacked into it to find where the launch codes and launch location was.
The location was easy to find and Han mentally patted himself on the back for figuring it out. So it turns out that it was City C that they targeted. There was a small virus in the laptop and Han was sure that it was the virus that made the computer change the target location. He didn’t care how the virus got into the laptop and he didn’t bother trying to find out how it worked.
Han quickly got both the location and the launch codes before memorizing them and turning to leave.
[Departure time – 24:00:00]
Once Han got all of this, his system immediately brought up the notification for his departure. He looked at it for a second before he walked out to meet Yue. Yue was waiting while squatting against the wall. Once she saw Han coming out, she stood up and smiled at him.
“I got it, Yue”
Yue nodded and then her mood fell a little. She knew that this meant Han would be going back soon. She looked up at Han and Han put his hand on her head to pet her.
“I have to go back. Is there anywhere you might like to go? I don’t mind taking you anywhere you want”
Yue thought on it for a while. She didn’t have anyone left here in City C so she didn’t need to stay here anymore, but there was one place where she would be able to live happily even if Han was no longer around. She looked up at Han and told him where it was and Han smiled as he took her up to his shoulder again.
“Let’s go then. I think I can get you there in less than a day”
