Chapter 13: A Night with Shedinja (Edited)

It was around 1 pm in the afternoon. Axel was in the cafe eating some food. Lopez and Mariana were consoling Axel. Both of them won easily in their match. Axel too won the match but his Pokemon was hurt to battle in the next round.

"Don't worry Axel. Your opponent was really tough. I saw the match myself. Even if you can't battle the next round, I'm sure you will get the certificate." Mariana said, patting Axel's back.

Even If they were trying to make him feel better, he was feeling worse. Axel had a superiority complex. Seeing these 2 people consoling him that he can't battle the next round made him furious. He, of course, didn't show it in his face but he was hating them even more.

Axel excused himself and went outside. He planned to train Shedinja.

"Shedinja come out!", Axel said.

Shedinja came out of Axel's shadow gradually. Axel's plan for Shedinja to hide in his shadow worked well. Though Shedinja was not good at it. Experienced trainers could look through Shedinja even if it was hiding in the shadow. But it will improve eventually.

Shedinja was also not in a good mood. It saw Nidoran barely winning the match. Nidoran was many times more powerful than Shedinja. Seeing the battle, it felt that it could never win a single match in the future.

Axel felt Shedinja's emotions. When you catch a Pokemon and register it in the Pokemon center, you use a drop of blood to do it. Doing this has many advantages. One of which is, you can sense the feeling of Pokemon and the Pokemon could also feel your emotions.

"Shedinja, those who cannot acknowledge themselves, will eventually fail.", Axel said calmly. "You are weak and because of your species, you have very low health. Acknowledge your weakness, then only you can improve."

"Shedinjaa", it said.

Shedinja felt a jolt in its heart. Like it just realized something very important.

"If you are weak then work harder. Give more time in practice than Nidoran, and you will eventually catch up or maybe you will be more powerful than Nidoran."

"Shed..."

Shedinja had determination in its eyes when it heard its trainer. It was contemplating what its trainer said. 'Those who cannot acknowledge themselves will eventually fail' was what its trainer said.

Shedinja and Axel trained through the entire afternoon. It trained on 'Agility' and 'Tackle'. It also trained in 'Harden'. Meanwhile, Axel was training in shadow boxing and after some time he started punching a tree. The rage he felt from before was fully unleashed on that tree.

###

It was evening now. Axel after some training with his Shedinja, went to the Pokemon center to check up Nidoran. After being told that Nidoran still needs to be checked, he left to take Nidoran in the morning. He ate some food. Shedinja didn't need any. So he went to the room and slept. He didn't want to go to the stadium and watch the fight.

###

9p.m. at night

Room no. 204, 2nd floor, Pokemon Center

A Pokemon woke up from the floor, it flew over to the window, turn around to see its trainer, and flew from the window going to the forest. This Pokemon was Shedinja.

Shedinja had decided to train at night from now on. It would train until it would become the most powerful Shedinja in the Pokemon world.

It started to use 'Harden' to increase its defense. It also started to practice 'Agility' and 'Tackle'. Shedinja did this training regime for almost 30 minutes. It got tired after the training. There were some minor bruises as it had hurt itself in the process.

It took rest for some time, then it noticed 3 Shandshrew on the bushes. Shedinja hid itself to observe them. One of the Shandshrew got away from the group. "Shed.." It decided this was the time for some battle training.

Shedinja used 'Shadow sneak' and assimilated in the alone Shandshrew shadow. After it got far away, Shedinja came out of the shadow and tackled the opponent. Shandshrew was very surprised and it was thrown out quite a bit far. Shedinja immediately used 'Gust' on Shandshrew. As the poor Pokemon didn't even know who hit him, 'Gust' hit Shandshrew critically and it flew out of in the wind. After Shandshrew landed on the ground, it immediately got into position and used 'Sand attack'.

'Sand attack' hit Shedinja and lowered its accuracy. Shandshrew used 'Dig' and hit Shedinja. But Shedinja's 'wonder guard' ability makes ground-type moves immune too. Shandshrew didn't know that and thought that Shedinja got hit.

Shedinja then used 'Hypnosis' on Shandshrew. Since it was night, 'Hypnosis' affected it very well. Shandshrew started to doze off and Shedinja used 'Shadow sneak' and hid in the shadow of a tree. Seeing that Shedinja is nowhere it fell asleep.

Axel had said that it had to acknowledge its weakness and think about it. It knew that it had low health and there was nothing it could do about it. So, it had to play smart. That is exactly what Shedinja was doing right now. It could now use a couple of 'Gust' and 'Tackle' and finish up the battle. But it thought there must be a safer way to win this.

Shedinja went near to the sleeping Pokemon, It felt some kind of energy from the Pokemon and thought that it could manipulate it. It started to mess up Shandshrew's dreams and make it feel that Shandshrew was seeing a nightmare. Whenever Shandshrew was in those nightmares, Shedinja could feel that same energy going stronger. It started to absorb that energy and that energy made it stronger and recovered its health. Yes, Shedinja had learned 'Dream eater'

After it recovered its health to full, Shedinja decided that it was time to end the battle. It used 'Gust' a couple of times and then 'Tackle' a few more. After that Shandshrew had stopped breathing. It was dead in its sleep. Shedinja then again felt the same energy that it had felt before. It started to absorb the energy again.

But that energy was too much for Shedinja to absorb. It was very violent than the previous one. It was making Shedinja powerful permanently but it couldn't control it. It was death aura. As Shedinja was a ghost Pokemon, death Aura was beneficial for it. But this was the first time it had absorbed it, so instead of being good, it was harming Shedinja. Shedinja stopped absorbing the energy and tried to feel and assimilate the energy by doing meditation.

It had seen Nidoran doing meditation and tried to copy it. After a few minutes, that violent energy started to calm down. It didn't feel anything but it had grown a bit stronger than before.

Shedinja after resting a bit decided to hunt the remaining Shandshrew.

It used the same strategy that is used in the previous battle. However, it also tried to mix up trying to use 'Agility' in the fight. It didn't absorb the death aura as it had before. Shedinja was concerned that it will not be good as it couldn't control it. It thought that it would think about it after.

For the rest of the night, it hunted down quite a bit of Pokemon. It first focused on Shandshrew but after some battles, there was a Sandslash among them guarding the Shandshrews. So, it decided to leave the Shandshrew for the time being.

It also battled a group of Meowth and Caterpie. It used the same tactic on all of them. Shedinja wanted to play safe and master this battle tactic. Shedinja rested for some time and then decided to train its agility and tackle.

At 4 a.m., after 7 hours of training, Shedinja returned to the room and slept.
