Chapter 282: The End of Uncommon rank Battle

Another task awaited Tauros, one that would put Absol at a significant disadvantage. Absol already knew that the two Pokemons it was currently battling were mere illusions, while the real Tauros prepared its next move.

Absol had trained alongside Tauros, becoming familiar with its fighting style and moves. However, it couldn't bypass the illusory Pokemons, as Tauros moved with such speed that it seemed to occupy three places at once. Absol had no choice but to eliminate the illusions before targeting the real Tauros.

Knowing that Tauros was a sturdy Pokemon capable of enduring numerous hits, Absol resorted to its only viable strategy. It began gathering power, causing a dark aura to envelop its form. This was its 'Payback' move. By storing power within itself, Absol could launch a counterattack with increased force if the opponent struck first. Although Absol had not yet fully mastered the move, it would still deal an additional 20% damage.

Meanwhile, Tauros prepared a new move it had recently learned called 'Electric Terrain'. This move enhanced the power of electric moves and prevented Pokemon from falling asleep. The surroundings began to crackle with electricity as Tauros set up the terrain, followed by a powerful 'Wild Charge' attack. This move increased Tauros' speed and dealt significant damage, albeit at the cost of injuring itself.

Absol, unable to dodge the impending strike, braced itself for the impact, knowing it wouldn't survive unscathed. Lacking defensive moves, Absol focused on honing its claws and polishing its rock-hard body using 'Hone Claws' and 'Rock Polish' once again.

With a thunderous impact, Tauros's attack struck Absol, propelling it a considerable distance away. Blood trickled from Absol's pristine white fur, but the pain was of little concern. The surrounding darkness intensified, obscuring its white coat beneath the shroud of its dark aura.

Ding!

Absol's 'Payback' has leveled up to 30.

It has reached an advanced stage.

In a burst of inpokemon speed, Absol launched itself at Tauros, its dark aura affecting Tauros and causing additional injury upon contact. Tauros was sent hurtling through the air before crashing to the ground. However, Absol wasn't faring much better—it too was seriously injured.

After a brief respite, Tauros rose to its feet, emitting a resounding roar. Despite its injuries and the blood now staining its hide, Tauros remained resolute in its desire to win. Its horn gleamed, and its front legs tensed, ready to strike. It then lunged forward at an incredible speed, the combined effects of 'Double Team' and 'Wild Charge' propelling it into a frenzied assault.

Yet, abruptly, Tauros's legs trembled, and a pained roar escaped its lips. Unbeknownst to Tauros, Absol had cunningly deployed 'Stealth Rock', causing the unsuspecting Tauros to feel a sudden jolt of pain. Seizing the opportunity, Absol struck from behind with a precise 'Feint Attack'. This move allowed the user to strike with exceptional power, and due to its covert execution, the chances of missing were greatly diminished. The attack connected, but Tauros refused to go down.

The intense battle raged on for seven more minutes until Tauros emerged as the victor. Though Tauros had endured 'Stealth Rock' and Absol's onslaught, its formidable defense, heightened attack power from two uses of 'Swords Dance', and speed gained from 'Double Team' and 'Wild Charge' ultimately secured the win.

However, the victory did not come easily. Both combatants were left wounded. Recognizing that Absol would be unable to withstand Tauros's impending 'Thrash' attack, Axel decided to end the match, knowing Absol's limits.

The battle had been a close one, but Tauros emerged triumphant, and the victory was well-earned. Nurse Joy promptly attended to the Pokémon, providing them with much-needed healing.

After a twenty-minute interval, Axel announced, "The final battle of the uncommon rank will feature Tauros and Venusaur. Let's welcome them onto the stage."

Tauros had made a full recovery and stood ready to face Venusaur. Axel was already certain of the outcome.

###

"Let the battle begin!" he declared.

As expected, Venusaur emerged as the victor, defeating Tauros by a significant margin. Although both were uncommon rank Pokemons, Venusaur possessed two advantages over Tauros.

First, Venusaur's age afforded it ample time to focus on enhancing its stats and mastering its moves. Having undergone three stages of evolution, Venusaur had honed each form to perfection.

Secondly, it possessed a wealth of experience, comparable to that of Charizard. Venusaur had participated in numerous battles and possessed an extensive repertoire of moves. In comparison, Tauros appeared juvenile beside Venusaur.

Axel realized that comparing Pokemon solely based on their ranks would be insufficient until they reached the rare rank. Despite both Tauros and Venusaur being uncommon rank Pokemons, Venusaur effortlessly outmatched Tauros.

"The battle in the uncommon category has concluded, and Venusaur shall be awarded accordingly. Now, let us take a break before commencing the battles in the rare rank category," Axel announced, granting everyone a well-deserved respite.

The team congratulated Venusaur and Pidgeotto, with the latter particularly ecstatic about its victory in the contest, joyfully flapping its wings. It had finally achieved the reward it sought, already planning to claim what it desired.

Meanwhile, Charizard adopted a serious demeanor. The upcoming battle would be in the rare rank category, and it was determined to emerge victorious, no matter what. Agnes and Noah offered consolation to their Pokemon for their loss. Slowpoke seemed unfazed, while Dragonair appeared disheartened by its defeat.

After the break, the participants gathered on stage for the rare rank battles.
