Chapter 369: Last Gym: Gyarados
Gogoat fired 'Bullet Seed' and then dodged the attack, but it was not completely able to do it.
"Gogoat, NOW!!"
Suddenly, multiple blasts started to happen inside the body of water that was rising like a wave to strike it. Due to the blasts, the water was not concentrated, and it started to split multiple directions. The mighty force of the water was nowhere to be seen, but some of them still made contact with Gogoat.
SHISSSssssss.
Gogoat's body started to create steam, and its skin started to peel off. The water was that hot!!!
"Gogoat, use 'Milk Drink' on yourself and 'Razor Leaf'!"
"Blastoise, use 'Aqua Ring' and then fire another 'Hydro Cannon'!" shouted Kent.
The moves that could do multiple blasts before were 'Bullet Seed' and 'Seed Bomb'. 'Bullet Seed' would let it throw seeds at the speed of a bullet, while 'Seed Bomb' would create a seed that would detonate.
Axel wanted to combine both of the moves, and it had done it just before the battle. When both of the moves leveled up to 40, 'Bullet Seed' could contain properties to detonate, and 'Seed Bomb' could have a waiting time before it detonated after leveling up to 40.
However, there were multiple problems with this strategy. First, the speed of 'Bullet Seed' had to be decreased considerably so that it would detonate on impact. Second, the whole batch of 'Bullet Seed' would detonate at the same time. For example, 'Bullet Seed' could now be used four times by Gogoat. Each time, it would send 5-6 seeds towards Blastoise. If it wanted to use 'Seed Bomb' to blast it, all those 5-6 seeds would detonate with an interval of 2-5 seconds.
'Seed Bomb's' waiting time was also only 2 minutes, and Gogoat had to use a considerable amount of stamina and power continuously to hold the detonation time. Also, if Blastoise were to harshly step on one of the seeds, it would lose the power to detonate and be normal. Even with all those problems, it had become a strategic move.
So, when Blastoise was going to use 'Hydro Cannon' again, it activated 'Seed Bomb' on those seeds when it used it after Blastoise had used 'Life Dew' and 'Aqua Ring'. Once again, Blastoise was unable to properly target Gogoat with those blasts.
The battle went on for another 5 minutes, and it was clear that Gogoat was losing. Blastoise's water type attack was very powerful and precise. It had a huge amount of pressure, and its power was on another level. Axel already knew that Gogoat could not last long, so he gave the final command to do maximum damage.
"Gogoat, use 'Field Control' at full power, and then use 'Horn Leech'," said Axel.
Suddenly, 10 trunks appeared from the ground. All of them went and bound 2 legs and 2 hands of Blastoise.
ROARRRRR...
It roared in annoyance. Gogoat started to run towards Blastoise. Its horn started to glow green, and it moved towards Blastoise with incredible speed. The crowd could not believe that it had so much stamina. All of its body was riddled with wounds, burns, and skin peeling off. It was not in a good condition. By the time it came near Blastoise, vines from those trunks had covered all of its body except for a small place in the middle of its stomach.
The horns hit and pierced Blastoise's skin and went inside its muscles. The horns struck inside its muscles, and it would not let it go. Blastoise gave a painful roar and used 'Ice Beam' at point-blank range. Gogoat was thrown off by the attack, and now half of its body had already been frozen with ice.
The trunks and vines that had held Blastoise started to get weak, and Blastoise was able to come off easily from it. It tried hard, but it could not hold it in, and finally, it closed its eyes.
"Gogoat has fainted. The gym leader has won the first battle. Challenger Axel is requested to send out his second Pokémon," shouted the referee.
The crowd burst out with cheers.
###
"It was an amazing battle. I don't think I remember the last time I had seen Kent under so much pressure."
"That is true. This trainer is really good. No wonder he had the guts to challenge the gym leader for his last gym battle."
Even though Axel had lost, he had gained respect from the crowd. It was a well-thought-out battle plan, and he had done very well.
"You have trained your Pokémon well. But it is still not enough to win against the Elite Four and Charles," said Kent.
Axel didn't say anything and threw a Master Ball. Alakazam came out of it. It was slightly floating from the ground.
"Let the battle begin!!!" shouted Lyra.
"Blastoise, use 'Scald'," said Kent.
The water from the right and the left side started to heat up again. Steam started to come up, and like a wave, it came out of the ground and moved towards Alakazam.
"Alakazam, use 'Thunderbolt'," said Axel.
Alakazam used a full power 'Thunderbolt'. Since the water was connected with Blastoise, the power of the attack was heightened by a large degree. After the attack was over, Blastoise had fallen to the ground.
"Blastoise has fainted and is unable to battle. Challenger Axel wins this round. Gym leader Kent is requested to send out his next Pokémon," said Lyra.
Kent didn't say anything and sent out his second Pokémon.
ROARRRRR...
The loud roar filled the battle arena. Even with the crowd cheering, the roar was devastating to hear. Axel's eardrums were ringing loudly. The Pokémon was much larger than its normal counterpart. It looked angry and had a huge mouth and a solid fish-like tail.
It was Gyarados.
As per Axel's calculations, Gyarados must be the most powerful Pokémon in Kent's arsenal. So, why was he taking it out so soon? Did he want to finish it fast?
Axel looked at its stats:
---
Pokémon's Name: Gyarados (Age: 10 yrs)
Pokémon's Nickname: N/A
Pokémon Rank: Pseudo-King
Ability: Intimidate (100%)
Hidden Ability: Moxie (100%)
Potential: Brown (Monstrous)
Health: 3500/3500 Attack: A+
Agility: A++ Defense: B+
Sp. Attk: A++ Sp. Def: B++
Moves:
Active move: Hyper Beam, Thrash, Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Waterfall, Dragon Dance, Chilling Water, Avalanche, Icy Wind, Sandstorm, Water Manipulation, Surf, Flamethrower, Aqua Tail
Passive move: Endure
Core: Water (Mastered)
---
"What the hell is this?" shouted Axel internally.
It also had 'Water Manipulation,' but that was not the problem. The problem was that it had a passive move. 'Endure' would normally let the Pokémon hold up until its last health and could tank a powerful hit. But Axel had a bad feeling about this 'Endure.' He knew that this 'Endure' and normal 'Endure' were completely different.
Axel also knew that 'Passive move' was very powerful. 'Resolve' of Beedrill, 'Flame Control' of Charizard had boosted their powers to another level. This Gyarados also had 100% mastery in its ability and hidden ability. Kent had raised this Pokémon too well.
"Are you both ready for battle?"
"Please wait. Is it really okay if my Gyarados watches this battle? I want it to learn," said Axel.
"Of course, no problem," said Kent.
Axel threw a ball, and another Gyarados came out.
ROARRRRRR
"Gyarados, I want you to see this battle and learn from it. That Gyarados is a powerful Pokémon. Watch carefully," said Axel.
"Are you both ready for battle?" asked the referee again.
"Yes (x2)."
"Let the battle begin!!!"
"Gyarados, use 'Surf'."
"Light, 'Teleport' and 'Calm Mind'."
The waves came from the right and left sides of the battlefield and started to move towards Alakazam. Just as it was about to strike, it disappeared and appeared far away. It was also able to use 'Calm Mind' two times.
'Calm Mind' was a strategic move that would boost sp. Attack and sp. Defense of the user. As of right now, it could use it four times.
"Gyarados, use 'Rain Dance'."
"Alakazam, use 'Calm Mind' again."
Using 'Calm Mind' three times had boosted its sp. Attack to a massive degree. 'Rain Dance' took time to execute, so Alakazam was able to use 'Calm Mind' again. However, Gyarados was fast. It was also able to use 'Dragon Dance' one time.
