---

There were a lot of things that needed to be changed for Shelgon. First was its move pool. It lacked a lot of things even 'Bite'. Axel needed Bagon to train in many fire type, dragon type and other moves.

One thing that confused Axel was its hidden ability. When it was just a Bagon, its hidden ability was 'Sheer force'. When it evolved to Shelgon, it changed to 'Overcoat' and when it reached its final evolution, it would be 'Moxie'. Even its ability would change to 'Intimidate' when it reaches its final evolution.

There was the same case for Nidoking. Its hidden ability changed from 'Hustle' to 'Sheer force' when it evolved to Nidoking. Axel had hoped that something good would happen when its hidden ability changed. So, he had told Nidoking to master its hidden ability 'Hustle' to 100% before reaching its final evolution.

However, nothing happened. He also looked at this issue on the internet and also in library, but he found nothing about it. Axel was angry and frustrated about it. So, he didn't tell Bagon to fully master its hidden ability. It would also take a lot of time to do it.

'Maybe Lance might know something about it.', thought Axel.

Lance was from a dragon family and he also had Salamence. So, he must know a proper way to train the hidden ability and ability of Salamence. So, he went towards Lance to ask the question. Lance was occupying one of the training grounds and he was training his Pokemons. He looked serious.

When he saw Axel, he waved and called him.

"Lance, sorry to disturb you but I am in a pickle here.", said Axel.

"Yeah, no problem dude. What do you want?"

"It is about Shelgon. You know that its hidden ability changes with every evolution and in its final evolution, its ability also changes. So, what is the deal with that?

I mean if I train it really hard in its hidden ability before its evolution, would it have any benefits? Cause I cannot see one."

"Oh, you must not know about it but I don't get why Prof. Oak didn't tell you about it. So, here is the deal.

When a Pokemon reaches king rank, there is a chance for a minor upgrade in its ability. Also, when a Pokemon reaches champion rank, its ability gets a major upgrade and it gets a minor upgrade in hidden ability. Of course, it may not happen. It depends on how much your Pokemon masters its ability and hidden ability. And when it reaches master rank, there is a chance for a major rank up for hidden ability."

"Yes, I am aware of that.", said Axel even though he knew nothing about the master rank Pokemons.

"Good. Now, for those Pokemons, who had mastered their hidden ability or abilities and then it changes, there is a good chance that it would have a positive impact when there is time for a major change in their ability and hidden ability."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, and there is also a good chance that your Pokemon might be able to learn a completely different move relating to your previous hidden ability and ability. However, it might also not happen."

"Oh, so that is helpful."

"Yes. You must know that when a Pokemon reaches higher ranks, the up-gradation of its ability and hidden ability make a major difference in its powers. So, it is very important.", said Lance.

"So, if I let Shelgon master 'Overcoat' completely then it would become a powerful Salamence in the future."

"Yes, of course, that is why my father's Salamence is very powerful. My father perfectly timed it and trained his Pokemon in hidden ability. However, mastering an ability or hidden ability is extremely difficult. I don't know if you will be able to do it."

"Yes, that is true. But I want to try. Thanks for your help, Lance."

"Anytime dude. Now, let me get back to training.", said Lance, and then started to train his Pokemons.

###

Axel was now regretting not putting a condition where Bagon had to master its hidden ability. However, everything had a good and bad side. It took take forever for Bagon to master the hidden ability and that would hurt the psychology of Bagon.

However, now, he wanted Shelgon to master the hidden ability 'Overcoat'.

"Shelgon, we are going to master your hidden ability 'Overcoat', before your final evolution. Yes, I know. It will take a long time but it will make you very strong in the future."

'Overcoat' would help Shelgon defend weather conditions like hail and sandstorms. It was a handy ability. The best thing about it was that it was a passive ability.

So, when the hidden ability reaches 100%, it could actively defend against weather conditions. It would not be immune to it, but having a good defense was better than anything.

To master this ability, it had to face a lot of weather conditions. There were a lot of weather conditions. Windy, foggy, hail, sandstorm, blizzard and intense sun.

"Shelgon, you will face hail, sandstorms, blizzards, and windy conditions from your peers and defend against it. You will train in this thing for 1 hour every day."

Locating 1 hour every day for hidden ability was a bold move. Axel also wanted it to have 100% mastery in this ability cause that was going to change too.

Unlike in the games, 'Rock head' would not only prevent the Pokemon from recoil damage but also strengthen its head and neck muscles. It was also a passive ability, and to train in these moves, Shelgon had to train in recoil damage moves.

Previously, Bagon trained in 'Headbutt' and it did it mercilessly. Any charge move, if done in such a manner could have recoil damage. Axel realized that 'Dragon head', its new move also had a bit of recoil damage.

So, it would train in these moves and now it would train in other moves too.

Axel started to make a list of moves that Bagon would focus on.

1. Crunch: It was a dark-type move and had good coverage.

2. Take down: For recoil damage and also a powerful move.

3. Flare blitz: For recoil damage too and also a fire-type move.

4. Wish: For healing

5. Earthquake: For AOE effect

6. Dragon dance: To increase the speed and attack.

7. Flamethrower: For powerful flame attacks

8 Sunny day: For good flame attacks

9. Dragon pulse: A dragon-type move

These were the moves that he wanted Shelgon to learn currently. Every one of them was vital for Shelgon. He also had other moves planned, but that would come after it became Salamence. 'Wish' was a better version of 'Roost' cause it had no time limit but it took time to work.

Shelgon also chose attack power as its main stat so most of its moves were physical type. Axel wanted it to learn some special type moves so it would not lack a lot in the special type move department.

Axel wanted it to focus on recoil damage type moves so that it would increase the mastery of its ability. He wanted Bagon to learn all these moves. Axel knew that it would learn these moves in 3 weeks very easily but mastering them to a certain level was going to be a problem.

So, he first told it to go for status moves like 'Wish' and 'Sunny day' and 'Dragon dance'. The focus was on 'Crunch', 'Earthquake', and 'Flamethrower', and if it had time, it could focus on other moves. It wanted it to be ready for the tide.

###

Now, Axel had made training plans for all of them. All of them had evolved at least once except for Riolu and now it was time to grind them. He had been going easy on them till now as they were very young and now they could not complain.

"Guys, focus on your body stats. That would be vital in the coming tide. Also, focus a lot on stamina too.", said Axel.

Stamina was going to be vital in the tide battle. They had to learn how to preserve their stamina and fight a longer battle. It was going to be a war. It was difficult for young Pokemon as they had only battled using their full strength. If they used the same strategy in Tide, they would run out in a few minutes.

Axel was also going to focus on his training now. He had not opened the aura tablet that Lucario had given them. He skimmed through it and it was very detailed. He knew that it would take a lot of time to master even one of those things. So, he focused on his existing moves.

He wanted to focus on 2 things during this time. First was his 'Aura sense' and the next was 'Mental communication'. When his 'Aura sense' reached level 60, it got a good boost and now he could sense the aura of his Pokemons perfectly even though they were 20 kms away. But such could not be said for other wild Pokemons. He had been with his Pokemons for a long time, so he could tell their aura signature perfectly and it became easier for him to recognize from a large distance too.

'Aura sense' was going to be vital, cause his Pokemon were going to fight in larger areas. Some of these Pokemons might be very far away too. 'Mental communication' was to give them command at a large distance and also command his soldiers too.

###

Lance POV

Lance was going to prove that he could handle a tide and become the leader of the tide this time. When Axel first proposed him about it, he was scared. They didn't know anything about the tide. They didn't know the grade and the number of Pokemons they were going to face.

However, he believed that he could come out of it alive. He was a dragon trainer and he had many powerful Pokemons.

He was going to train himself to the limit this time and also his Pokemons. He was expecting his Flygon to reach king rank. He already had 2 king rank Pokemons with him. Salamence and Dragonite. They had become very powerful. Salamence still needed to consolidate its rank up as it had ranked up recently but Dragonite was now training to grow even stronger.

The training grounds were perfect for his Pokemons to train and for Flygon to reach king rank status. After the dragon resource place on Aeus island, he realized that some of his dragon type Pokemons were not up to the mark. So, he was training them and he was also training himself.

Unlike Axel, Lance took out the aura training stone and then started to train in it. He had nothing to lose. He was also focusing on 'Aura sense'.

He was a bit scared. His father and sister were not here and he had to do it alone but he also knew that he needed to grow stronger now.

After seeing Axel and his Pokemons, he also wanted his Pokemons to learn new moves. There were many benefits of getting a new move. One of them was the unpredictability as the opponent would not know anything about it. Second was that the move would fit well with the Pokemon as the Pokemon had created the move themselves.

In this tide, Lance was going to show the power of dragon type Pokemons.
