Chapter 652: Left Right Up Down

Chapter 652: Left Right Up Down

Many things were going on in the King's head. At first, he didn't want to believe that they only had 30 years to live. But he also knew that Axel was the successor of the Pokemon master. So, Axel must have some secret information that even he didn't know. He could not deny the possibility.

"So, we only have 30 years to live. So, what do you suggest that we do?", asked the king.

"Build your army and get stronger as fast as you can. When the time comes and you are there to protect the citizens, then they would realize your value and the league would just disappear."

"Is that so?"

"Yes, I have been doing the same thing. Why do you think that I took part in this ridiculous competition? I have nothing much to gain. I only did it for 2 reasons."

"Can I ask you about those reasons?"

"Yes, you can. The first is money and resources. Even though the money and the resources I get would just be a drop from a bucket for me, it is still needed. My second reason is to make people believe that I am a powerful and capable trainer whom they can trust. When the time comes, they could rely on me and they could only do that if I prove myself."

"But you said that you don't want anything from us."

This time it was Angel who asked the question. Axel had just said that he didn't want anything and now he is saying that he is doing it for the same reason.

"I only said that cause if I asked for something, I would have to give something in return which I don't want to. I don't want to be bound by such things."

The king walked towards his chair, sat on it, and started to think about it. Axel had dropped a massive bomb on him telling him something that he never even dreamed of. He was already starting to make plans on how to make his faction stronger in the future. He would have to go all out.

For a few minutes, nobody talked. Axel was just waiting for the king to say something while the king was contemplating a lot of things. The king finally turned towards Axel and said, "You have given us valuable information. Something that could not just be paid with money and resources. So, I ask you to request me anything and I will provide it to you. Don't worry, I won't ask for anything. I believe in equal exchange and this information is very vital for me.

If you want any Pokemons, I can give you. I can even give you some of the legendary Pokemons but I suggest that you don't take it cause you don't have the power to guard them. I can give you money and resources. So, ask away."

The king made the declaration. Axel was surprised that the king was so generous. He had a lot of things that he needed. So he started to sort it out on the basis of priority and importance.

"I request you for the dragon resources for my Shelgon and the resources for my Feraligatr's teeth."

"Are you sure those are the only things that you want? It is not hard to fulfill it."

"Yes, those are the only things that I want."

"Ok, then I will grant it to you."

"How much would you give me?"

"How much do you need?"

###

Axel came out of the building with his bags filled with resources for Shelgon and Feraligatr. These were the only resources that were impossible to get in large supplies as they were very rare in nature. The king assured that Axel would not have to worry about these resources and he would be granted this resource till his dying breath.

He was obviously happy about such a transaction. Axel was also surprised by the king's behavior. Before coming here, Axel felt that he would have a verbal battle with the king as kings are known to be very proud and arrogant. Axel was also arrogant and proud, so he was pretty sure that they would clash.

However, he was proven wrong. The king was wise, very wise. He could think rationally and logically and he was very patient. He had the qualities of a true king.

He then went towards the training ground to meet with Frank. Jin and Mia had yet to come from their missions, so Axel could only wait for them. He called Hector and gave them a heads-up that they would be meeting in Kanto League City after 2 days.

He greeted Frank and then went to his own world.

Flashback (2 days ago)

Frank was training his Pokemon seriously and he still had not found another way to train Gible. He was on the verge of following Axel's idea as Axel's idea was just too good. But he didn't want to give up. So, he decided to call his father.

Tring.. Tring.. Tring.. Tring...

Katchak.

"Hello."

"Hey, Dad, how are you?"

"So, you still remember your dad huh? Your mom is missing you a lot. She still blames me your being mature, sigh. So, I reckon that you didn't just call me to say hi. What is it? Spill it out."

"How do you know that I called you only for work? I could have just called you to say hi."

"Son, I have known you for more than 2 decades. Don't test my patience. Just tell me what you want."

"Ok, I did call you cause I need some help but I also called you cause I miss you and Mom..."

Frank could feel that his father's anger was starting to rise, so he quickly went to the point.

"You also know that I have a Gible. It is pseudo-legendary and a dragon-type Pokemon. I believe that it would be the most powerful Pokemon in my team in the future. So, I want to know everything about Gible line, how to train them, and what strategies trainers use to fight with them.

After studying all of it, I want to create a unique style for my Gible and its future evolution."

"Oh, that is a tall order. I must say that you have got some guts. I will get you all the details in 2 days. I will have to contact the people in the Sinnoh region to get more data. Meanwhile, I will be sending you what I have right now."

After they talked about work, Frank talked to his father about personal stuff and about the gym. He also talked to his mother for quite some time.

After that, he hung up the phone.

Flash back end.

###

Currently Frank had all the details of Gible line. He was surprised by the amount and the quality of the data.

"Looks like father went all out on this.", he mumbled.

Because the data was very huge and it covered even the minute details of Gible line.

When Axel greeted him, he didn't even know that Axel had come as Axel became busy in his own world.

Right now, Axel was thinking of a training plan for Slowemperor. Slowemperor was already a tier 3 king-rank Pokemon and it needed directions on its typing. Like the ghost type had darkness, soul, and shadow, Ice and psychic types also had their own directions.

If Slowemperor wanted to reach the champion rank, it needed to have sufficient mastery over at least one of the directions and if it mastered that direction, it would reach master rank.

That was how Pokemons ranked up to champion rank and master rank and that was why it was very rare for a Pokemon to reach those ranks. This was due to many reasons.

First of all, the directions were not fixed but there were some popular directions. People didn't know what type of directions are there on which type as the information relating to it was very secretive. It was also very rare. And even if the trainer had the knowledge of it, it was still not easy to have sufficient mastery over one of the directions.

They require hard work, a good foundation, considerable talent and a huge amount of resources. These were not something every trainer and their Pokemons could do. Hence, the rarity of champion rank and master rank Pokemons.

Before Axel came back, he also asked if the king had the details of all the directions of every type. The answer was positive. The king gave him a book which contained the details of all the directions of all the types that had been discovered till now.

Right now, Axel was looking at the huge book as he was starting to read about the psychic type and ice type cause Slowemperor needed to know about the directions that it would want to go.

"Hey Axel.", came a voice from behind as Axel turned back to find that it was Fran who was just behind him.

"Yes."

"I know that my Pokemons are still too weak to know about these things but I am curious about these directions. So, can I ask you a question?"

"Of course, ask away. I will be happy to answer it and no, you are not weak to know about it. I feel that if I had known about these directions before, I would have trained my Pokemons more systematically."

"So, the books say that these are the recorded directions till now of every type. Does that mean that there are other directions that we don't know about?", asked Frank.

"Yes, there are. These are only the recorded and tested directions. You see, any type could be used in a number of ways. Let's take an example of ghost type. Ghost-type could be used in 3 ways: darkness, soul, and shadow. But there also might be some other ways but we have not found it. So, we could invent new directions but that would take a lot of trial and error and a lot of time."

"What do you mean when you said that knowing these directions first would be very helpful?"

"A Pokemon has to at least master one direction to reach master rank. If we are able to know what type of directions there are in those types, we could concentrate on one direction for a certain Pokemon. This would decrease their training time and also increase their mastery of that direction.

However, I don't think that it is the right way."

"Why is that?"

"Well, it all comes down to the foundation of a Pokemon. A Pokemon must have a very solid foundation if it wants to be strong or reach higher ranks. However solely focusing on one direction from the beginning would not improve its foundation but decrease it. So, I think we should concentrate on almost everything at the beginning and then narrow it down as the Pokemon ranks up."

Frank was surprised by Axel's depth of knowledge. Frank had never even thought so deeply about his Pokemon. He realized that he still had a lot to learn from Axel and he was happy that Axel was his mentor.

"You said that a Pokemon should master at least one direction to reach the master rank. Does that mean that a Pokemon could master more than one direction too?", asked Frank.

"Yes, they could."

"Really, then why don't all of them do it? If they could master all the directions, they would be extremely powerful. I know that I would take a bit more time but they would be gaining a lot of power from it."

"Sigh, Frank you underestimate the time it takes to master one direction or even have a sufficient level of mastery over it. It would take years or even decades to do it. Mastering 2 directions would not take only double the time, it might take triple the time or even more than that."

"Huh? But why is that?"
