Chapter 716: Hardworking Squirtle

Chapter 716: Hardworking Squirtle

"Squirtle, 'Life dew', one more time.", shouted Dina in the training ground.

Squirtle started to spit water from its mouth. Some of it drenched itself and some of it drenched some of the other Pokemons.

This was one of the most favorite moves of Squirtle and it had done a lot of progress on it. It had been 2 weeks since Axel had disappeared and Squirtle had shown remarkable progress in these 2 weeks.

Its body stats had been increasing at an alarming rate and its moves proficiency had also increased. Since it was having mock battles every day, its battle capabilities had also increased by a lot.

Dina expected Squirtle to evolve any day now. Squirtle mainly loved defensive moves and special attack moves. It didn't like physical moves like 'Wave crash'. However, Dina had been persistent that it should also train in physical moves.

Having a good foundation at the early stage was vital for any Pokemon. 'Wave crash' was equally important as it was not only a powerful move but also would train its physical defense.

As it was doing its normal training, suddenly a blue light enveloped it.

"What? Is it evolving right now?", asked Dina in a surprised voice.

But then the evolution stopped. The glow of the evolution disappeared and Squirtle was still Squirtle.

"What happened? Did you stop the evolution?", asked Dina.

That could be possible but it was something not many Pokemons could do. It was incredibly difficult to hold onto evolution. It was like holding your bladder when you want to go to the toilet.

Yet Squirtle was not sad that it had not evolved. Instead, it was very happy for some reason and it was jumping in joy. Dina could not understand why it was so happy.

So, she called her king-rank Blastoise to ask Squirtle.

"Squirtle says that Axel had stopped the evolution and told it that it would have to max all the body stats and also evolve one of the moves to evolve.", replied Blastoise.

Dina had many questions in her mind and she didn't know where to start. First of all, how could Axel stop the evolution when he was not even here? How could Squirtle know about the condition of evolution? Also, isn't the evolution condition very harsh to complete for little Squirtle?

"Squirtle, are you sure that Axel did it?", asked Dina again and Squirtle nodded its head.

"Wait here for a minute. I will report it to my brother.", said Dina.

Axel's POV

Till now he had asked 3 questions and he had gotten some idea of his situation. Yet, he had also suffered a lot. Removing the nails from his hands and feet was very painful.

Axel told himself that he would have to hold on and wait for others to save him. He was also looking at any opportunity to run away from here yet the guy that came to deliver food was a professional and had not made even one mistake till now.

Even though he was given food and water, he was only given small amounts to survive. He had been hungry and thirsty for many days or even many weeks. As of right now, 2 weeks had passed and he didn't even know how he could get out of the situation.

Suddenly he received a notification from the system.

Ding!

Squirtle is going to evolve.

Ding!

Do you want to extend the evolution?

Axel was happy that Squirtle was training so hard that it was now on the verge of evolution.

"Yes, extend the evolution."

Ding!

Please specify the conditions.

"All of its stats should be S rank and one of its moves should reach level 40.", said Axel.

Squirtle was going to be one of the best tanks on Axel's team in the future. Blastoise was going to be a menace. So, the foundation of Squirtle must be rock solid. That was why he was not taking any chances.

After seeing that Squirtle was doing so much training to evolve and level up, Axel felt that he could let them down. He seemed to have already mastered enhanced endurance as he was not feeling any sort of pain right now.

The nails that had come out were also not giving him any pain. He seemed to have truly conquered his pain.

Now, was the time to master 'Enhanced recovery'. Axel had already read about 'Enhanced recovery' and knew how he should master and then the good news was that he could do that right now.

'Enhanced recovery' didn't have too many requirements. Actually, it only had one. That was the physical recovery should increase than a normal amount. That was it but it was not so easy.

Of course, Axel could have to take the help of aura and manipulate it to recover his body. Basically, with the help of aura, Axel could destroy all the dead cells and increase the amount of new cells at a fast speed. But this was also risky as if not done well, he might have an additional number of cells that he might not need and he might also suffer from problems like cancer.

So, he started slowly with the pinky toe of his right foot that was removed. First, he was going to remove all the blood that was coming out and heal the wound.

At first, he was not successful. It took hours for Axel to get a hang of it and slowly it started to take effect. Axel knew that it would take some time for him to master so he was pretty happy with the progress.

Axel's POV End

###

Dina immediately called Hymer and Hymer called Oak and Red. All of them came to the training ground to verify if Squirtle was speaking the truth.

When Red asked Squirtle about Axel, it happily said what it had experienced. Squirtle knew that Axel had the power to stop the evolution as it had heard it multiple times from its seniors. So, when that happened to it, it was confirmed that Axel was still alive.

Red and Oak also knew about Axel's powers so they also felt relieved that Axel was still alive. They didn't know where he was but he had not died. This was a huge relief as Red immediately called Axel's family to tell the good news.

The family was very happy to hear about the news. Noah did ask if they had any lead on Axel but the result was disappointing.

Meanwhile, Dina and Hymer were surprised that Red and Oak easily believed Squirtle.

"How can you be so sure that Axel was the one that stopped the evolution? I mean it doesn't make any sense.", said Dina.

"Let's just say that Axel has some sort of powers. It is a secret.", said Red.

Red knew that they would have to give some sort of explanation but they could also not tell the secret of Axel.

"Red, let's get back to ground zero and start the search again. I refuse to believe that we cannot find Axel. He must be somewhere in this world and I am going to dig him out.", said Oak.

Cynthia was on her private island. Cynthia came from a prominent family and just a few months back, she had suffered a huge blow. From an early age, she had been said that she was the most talented trainer among her peers. Her friends were also from prominent families and they were also provided with lots of resources like Cynthia.

Yet Cynthia had always been at the top. She had not lost any battle with her peers. Actually, she didn't find any challenges while battling them, and that made her bored.

She felt that she could achieve so much if she had a true rival that could match her. But she had yet to see such a trainer. Of course, her father, who was also a powerful trainer would train her and teach her a lot of things and Cynthia was quick to grasp everything like a sponge.

When she was just 6 years old, she was gifted with a Gabite and Gabite became her best friend. They could sleep together, eat together, and train together.

Just like Cynthia, Gabite also had a lot of ambition. It also wanted to be powerful in the future. So, both of them would train a lot. They trained a lot and it reached the point that none of the trainers of her age could contend with Garchomp. She had other Pokemons too that were very powerful but Garchomp was on a different level.

Her life was going well but she had never felt alive while battling as there was no competition. It was not until she met with Axel. She had heard about Axel. Axel was the successor of Oak. Cynthia had also been tested by Oak but she had failed. Normally, any trainer would feel bad and angry after being failed but Cynthia was happy. Actually, she was curious. Who was this person that was better than her?

She wanted to battle against Axel but since they were from different regions, she didn't even have the chance to meet with him. Finally one day they did and she made sure that both of them would battle.

Cynthia took out her Garchomp to dominate the battle with Axel called out Charizard. Both of them were king-rank Pokemons and this surprised Cynthia as having a king-rank Pokemons this early was a huge achievement.

Cynthia was confident in winning the battle but the result was shocking to her. Garchomp not only lost but was also permanently injured. Axel did offer a medicine and said that Garchomp would heal but she had her pride and would not take it.

She took it upon herself and promised herself that Garchomp would recover and become powerful again. One of the fins of Garchomp was chopped off so its balance was not perfect.

But they trained hard every day and finally, Garchomp could now fight properly even with its injury. So, Cynthia decided to go on a vacation and spend a month on this island to celebrate.

Shedinja was giving its all in this mission. Kingdra had guaranteed that it would not die in the sea so that was a bonus. It could now rest and then travel whenever it wanted. But it was feeling that it was very slow. Kingdra had said that with its speed it would take a month to reach another island and time was something that it didn't have.

It could not imagine what Axel was feeling right now. It had to increase the speed and it had come up with an idea to evolve another move that would help it increase its speed.

The name of the move was 'Shadow absorption'. Normally, Shedinja could only absorb the shadow of a living entity for a period of time to increase its stats. In the sea, there were no living entities that would willingly give their shadow for Shedinja.

So, it thought that at night, it would use the shadow from the sea waves to increase its speed by absorbing them. Doing this was very hard as it was an entirely new concept. However, just like the move 'Endure', it would not give up and train in this move continuously to improve itself. It had been training on this move for the past few days and there has been some noticeable progress.

It didn't know why but the shadow of the living entity was easier to absorb and of the nonliving entity was very hard. Shedinja was positive that it could evolve this move after a few days of practice.
