Chapter 126: Destination: Saffron City

Chapter 126: Destination: Saffron City

Nidoking and Nidoqueen, why did they go berserk?

This was actually a simple question. After Terrance had Misdreavus secretly probe around him, he was already convinced of the most likely speculation.

Generally, although Nidoking is easily angered, they often live in remote areas away from humans, leading a carefree life with Nidoran?. As for Nidoqueen… it takes care of the children.

Currently, the only reason they would both go berserk is due to their offspring, and it’s also a very important descendant.

In the Pokémon world, Nidoqueen is renowned for its love for its offspring. It is known to be very protective of its children, and will go to great lengths to defend them. It can become very fierce when protecting its young, even more so than Nidoking.

Firstly, due to the events at Mt. Moon, many Trainers were attracted, leading to certain Trainers inadvertently provoking them in some way.

Terrance reached this speculation as only this way, would Nidoking and Nidoqueen go berserk together, even attempting to charge into the town. For them, it must be that they have lost something important.

After Misdreavus used an illusion to provoke a Nidoqueen, the latter’s reaction has already conveyed to Terrance the sequence of events.

Due to the influence of the illusion, this Nidoqueen let out an angry roar. Other Nidoking and Nidoqueen clearly heard the message in its cry and rushed over in unison.

“Not good, Nidoking is leaving!”

“Hurry, stop them!”

Due to this Nidoqueen, the attention of all the giant beasts was drawn in that direction, and Terrance instantly became the target.

“Why are Nidoking and Nidoqueen going in that direction?”

“Oh no, that Trainer is in danger. We must stop the Nidoking.”

After a moment, Terrance scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed…it seems he underestimated the other Trainers a bit. Those Nidoking and Nidoqueen were actually stopped by them.

“Wee woo—”

“Wee woo—”

Just then, Terrance and Swablu who was itching to fight were both stunned. Their decision to have a satisfying battle came to an abrupt halt because the police officers from Pewter City were about to arrive.

“No choice, Swablu, don’t rush your evolution.”

“Let’s wait for a better opportunity later. For now, you and Misdreavus should hold back this Nidoqueen.”

“Boom!”

Blocked by the two Pokémon, Nidoqueen had no chance to fight back at all. Although she was angry, she was still stopped.

Terrance originally wanted Swablu to use its singing to calm down Nidoqueen, but… it seems the officers have already started taking action. Facing the berserk giant beasts, having a calm conversation was impossible.

With the coordination of the Trainers, smog resembling a tranquilizing agent was sprayed out. Without any surprises, Nidoking and Nidoqueen all fainted.

In cases of Pokémon riots that could potentially impact cities and towns, the police typically opt for thorough subjugation methods prioritizing human safety. The use of tranquilizing agents is seen as a reluctant but necessary choice.

“Officer Jenny!!”

“These Nidoking and Nidoqueen suddenly appeared here!”

After the police officers arrived, the Trainers approached Officer Jenny, whom they were most familiar with, and quickly began to tell everything they knew.

When Terrance approached, Officer Jenny was sweating profusely, directing other officers to restrain Nidoking and Nidoqueen to prevent them from rampaging again when they woke up.

“What exactly is going on…”

“Officer Jenny, why did these Nidoking and Nidoqueen go crazy?”

Officer Jenny massaged her temples in frustration. As a police officer from Pewter City, she had naturally deduced the reason for Nidoking’s anger. However, the current situation was busy and demanding immediate resolution. Even though the Trainers were a great help, taking the time to explain tested her professional composure.

“Did any of you provoke Nidoqueen’s children?”

Just then, a voice suddenly rang out.

“Um… it should be Nidoran? or Nidoran?.”

“What…”

Everyone looked at Terrance in confusion. Someone spoke up, “Why can’t it be Nidorina or Nidorino?”

“Because they already have the ability to live independently. Nidoqueen won’t provide protection to them anymore. Only the infants are worth getting angry about.”

Jenny looked at Terrance in surprise. She hadn’t expected a Trainer to guess the reason for Nidoqueen’s rampage. She cleared her throat and addressed the Trainers, “That’s pretty much the situation.”

“You… quickly go and find Nidoqueen’s offspring. Find the Trainers who just entered the city and ask them if they know anything.”

Jenny shouted quickly at some officers and then turned around. “Have any of you encountered Nidoqueen’s offspring?”

“…” The Trainers shook their heads.

Seeing things falling into place, Terrance knew that solving this was only a matter of time. At this moment, he was still pondering the meteorite incident. Even though Swablu hadn’t evolved, he put it aside in his mind.

“Never mind… I guess I have to go and personally ask Altaria.”

Terrance sighed, planning to finish his current tasks and immediately return to Hoenn. In the process, he intended to challenge the Pokémon Contests in the Hoenn region.

During the chaos at Mt. Moon, Terrance planned to slip away quietly. However, due to the recent events, Terrance had no choice but to let the police check his Pokémon. Fortunately, Terrance had obtained a Pokédex a few days ago, or the process would have been more complicated.

In fact, incidents like these are not uncommon. Pokémon without independent capabilities typically remain under the care of their parents, except for some common Pokemon. If a Trainer sets their sights on these Pokemon, if they are lucky, it will be fine… but if they are unlucky, it could provoke an entire family.

There were also exceptions, like Terrance and Swablu, where the mother Pokémon entrusted them personally. This was the main method for Trainers to obtain young Pokémon in the wild. Many Pokémon that were not easy to raise would have their offspring entrusted to a Trainer recognized by the parents. Following a Trainer was a better choice compared to living in the wild.

Terrance chose to traverse Mt. Moon directly by utilizing the caves opened by the League, a route that saved him a considerable amount of time. However, during this journey, Terrance had to endure frequent harassment from Zubat.

“Ah, the destination is so far away. I just want to rest and do nothing.”

Terrance took a deep breath as he arrived in Cerulean City from Mt. Moon. He was back in “his” hometown. When he rushed to Pallet Town from here before, he didn’t stay here for long due to time constraints. Now he didn’t have the time either. Professor Oak had already introduced him to the other person, so he would just have to save his desire to explore Cerulean City for another time.

“Let me think… If I want to go to Saffron City, I should head in this direction.”
