Chapter 84: Stopping on the 3rd level

“One minute… impressive progress,” Lucas observed Valor being attacked by two “Murkrow” and acknowledged his progress.

In just one month, not only had Valor passed the first level but also managed to hold out for one minute on the second level…..It seemed he had figured something out.

“He’s coming out.”

Under the attacks of two “Murkrow,” Valor’s Murkrow ultimately lacked the strength to defeat them. After continuous guerrilla warfare, it was still defeated in the end.

Nevertheless, this achievement was considered good among the new students.

“Great…I passed the first level!!” Valor exclaimed with excitement as he emerged from the Tower of Confusion, feeling full of energy. “First level reward, 100 credits!”

Next, as long as he could pass the second level… that’s 200 credits, the third level is 400 credits… all the way to the fourth level, and there are credit rewards for breaking the previous records too!

“I’ll aim to challenge the second level before advancing to the Intermediate Class!”

“Um…” Valor, who was feeling quite pleased inside, suddenly saw Teacher Lucas looking at him with a smiling expression, which sent a shiver down his spine.

“Um… I’ve passed the first level, but I’ve got something to do, so I’ll be on my way!!” He realized things were getting bad, hastily shouted, and ran away. As for the credit rewards, they would naturally be credited to him.

Seeing this, Teacher Lucas’ smile faded. “Students these days…”

Saying that, he shifted his attention to Terrance, saying, “Let’s see how he performs… I might need to have a conversation with him later. Coordinator, Breeder… does he have a clear choice in his mind?”

On the second level of the Tower of Confusion,

Swablu found itself in a tough battle. At this point, under the attacks of two Ditto, it had already defeated one opponent… but just dealing with this one opponent had drained all its strength.

Now, facing the other Ditto, Swablu’s disadvantage was finally becoming apparent.

“Not enough stamina…” Terrance watched Swablu struggling and made his judgment….Swablu was just one step away from passing the second level, and that step required better stamina management and accumulation.

For Swablu, who had been born for less than a year, stamina was one of its weaknesses.

“If it had enough stamina and relied on skills, it might have a chance to pass the second level…”

Terrance shook his head. He should stop here. Swablu’s journey from the first level to this point was already remarkable.

The next time Swablu challenged the tower, it would start from the second level, which should make it easier.

The second level… is essentially only passable by the main force of students who have undergone a year of study. As for passing the third level, within the academy, it’s mostly only achievable by the outstanding students of the Graduation Class.

Terrance was well aware of his strength. His chances of winning depended on having a relatively small gap in strength between boy sides and relying on his “dazzling techniques.”

In a real battle, not to mention Cynthia… even if you were to randomly pick a student from the Advanced Class, they could give the current Terrance a very tough time.

The Pokémon these people have, besides the starter Pokémon with good potential… some of them even have a full team of fully evolved ones.

Terrance challenging them with just Swablu and Beautifly… is still too early for him.

“It’s okay… there’s still time.”

“Aiming to reach the level of top-three in the League Conference in less than a year, unless it’s purely luck… it might be a bit of wishful thinking,” Terrance chuckled.

“You are finally out….”

Teacher Lucas’ lips slightly parted as he looked at Terrance in disbelief.

This guy not only easily passed the first level but also defeated one opponent on the second level and lasted nearly five minutes against another Ditto?

“I must advise him… to focus all his efforts on being a Trainer!” Teacher Lucas made up his mind. Being a Breeder was a waste of time… trying to balance both would definitely hinder Terrance’s growth.

“Again,” Terrance looked at Teacher Lucas, even though Valor had warned him, he didn’t leave right away.

“What…?” Lucas stared at him in confusion.

“I want to challenge the Tower of Confusion again, this time with my Beautifly. It’s 50 credits, right? If you include the 100-credit reward for the first level… I should still be able to earn 50 credits. If I manage to pass the second level next, there will be a reward of 250 credits,” Terrance mumbled to himself, ignoring Lucas’s astonished expression.

“W-wait a minute, isn’t Swablu your starter Pokémon?” Teacher Lucas looked puzzled. The seamless coordination between Terrance and Swablu clearly indicated a deep bond. If Swablu wasn’t Terrance’s starter Pokémon….he couldn’t believe it no matter what.

“No, Beautifly is my first Pokémon,” Terrance replied naturally.

“…..” Lucas.

The rewards of the Tower of Confusion are calculated based on the student’s ID information, not on the number of Pokémon who have passed through it.

Even if Beautifly passed the first level again after Swablu, there would be no credit reward. However, if a student wanted to challenge with a new Pokémon, they had to start from the first level again.

So, the reward system at the Tower of Confusion… Lucas had seen normal students challenge it with their strongest Pokémon only. Strange students like Terrance were exceedingly rare.

“Is the registration complete? I’m going in.” Swablu didn’t suffer any injuries in the previous battle, it was just a bit tired.

Terrance exchanged a greeting and then took Beautifly’s Poké Ball. Under the astonished gaze of Teacher Lucas, he initiated a new round of the Tower of Confusion.

15 minutes later.

Terrance, under Teacher Lucas’ gaze which was as if he was looking at a monster, suddenly bolted away.

Having completed the challenge and not intending to do it again, Terrance remembered Valor’s advice and immediately ran off.

Beautifly had accumulated a wealth of experience over time, so it performed much better than Swablu. Its exceptional ability to sense the changes in the air currents was something that Ditto couldn’t replicate solely through transformation.

It was a skill that required long hours of practice and refinement.

So, with this advantage, Beautifly easily breezed through the first level, the second level… and even managed to endure for over 3 minutes in the third level!

“For the next while, I won’t have much interaction with the Tower of Confusion,” Terrance happily ran away with Swablu and Beautifly, earning 250 credits as a reward. Currently, he has reached his limit here at the Tower of Confusion.

“Now I have over 700 credits…”

Sunlight House.

An environment maintained in a perpetual sunny day state by several Pokémon skilled in the move “Sunny Day.” Many students place their Grass-Type Pokémon inside.

The price was… 5 credits for an hour.

For a whole day, that was 120 credits – an exaggerated price. However, because this place is so beneficial for the growth of Grass-type Pokémon, there are almost always students’ Grass-type Pokémon being raised here for training… which forces them to maintain a high-frequency Sunny Day state.

This… also causes the Pokémon responsible for using Sunny Day to consume a significant amount of energy.
