Pokemon: Master of tactics

Chapter 352

Chapter 352

Chapter 352

Alex was a bit surprised to see that Sabrina actually won against Koga.

Even though she had a type advantage, type advantage is usually not enough to make up for such a large level disadvantage.

According to Alex's view, Sabrina's special Psychic powers were the main reason why she was able to compensate for this level disadvantage and to win.

The type advantage was just the small advantage that tipped the perfect balance to Sabrina's favor.

The next fight was a match where Alex was very sure that he know who will win this fight.

He was almost completely sure that Lt. Surge will win this match.

A Champion level Dragonite will give Lt.Surge's team a lot of problems, but Alex doubts that this one Champion level Pokemon can defeat more than 3 Pokemon alone.

Alex knew from experience, how good Lt.Surge was in tactical in fighting and he didn't think Lt.Surge was going to lose this match.

The fight happened almost exactly as Alex thought and Lt. Surge wins without much trouble.

Senta level 60 Dragonite causes problems for Lt.Surge but was defeated by him after losing three Pokemon.

Electrode LV 57, Jolteon LV 58, and Raichu LV 59, were all defeated to defeat a level 60 Dragonite. Which was an acceptable exchange.

Typical elite trainers would probably have had to "sacrifice" another Pokemon to be able to defeat this Dragonite.

Lt.Surge uses many interesting tactics in the match and he even uses his Electrode as a two time bomb.

Even against a Champion-level Pokemon, a Master rank [Explosion] from a level 57 Pokemon is not a joke.

Although Electrode is the lowest level Pokemon of the three Pokemon that fought Dragonite, it was the Pokemon that did the most damage to Dragonite.

Especially the fact, that Lt.Surge had baited the [Protect] of Dragonite, before sending Electrode to this fight, was a highlight of this fight for Alex.

The rest of the match was pretty straightforward and Lt.Surge only had slight problems against 1 other Pokemon from Senta.

but Dragonite at level 59 was also defeated after Lt.Surge lost another Pokemon.

Though it turned into a 2v4 battle, Senta's remaining 4 Pokemon were just too weak.

A level advantage of 4 or 5 levels was simply too much and Senta's last 4 Pokemon only narrowly managed to defeat one of Lt.Surge's last two Pokemon.

In the end, Lt.Surge only had one Pokemon left. but in Alex's opinion, it was still a relatively clear victory.

The tournament went into a long break after this fight and entertained in this time the spectators with other activities. (like fireworks, music, etc)

Alex didn't want to waste an hour and went back to training with his Pokemon following him.

He had no interest in different non-Pokemon-related activities. (almost all non-Pokemon-related activities)

Alex would probably be seen by other trainers as a crazy workaholic. Even Maria, who is a workaholic herself, was much more normal compared to Alex.

For many trainers, training Pokemon is not particularly interesting and not something they enjoy doing for a long time.

But for Alex, it's one of his favorite activities, and every day he thought about different ways to keep the training for his Pokemon interesting and rewarding.

Alex would even like to train more if he didn't know that too much training is harmful to the growth of his Pokemon.

Above all, he doesn't want his Pokemon to start hating their daily training.

If that happens, not only would the effectiveness of training drop sharply, but it would worsen his relationship with his Pokemon.

To prevent this, Alex not only regularly gives his Pokemon enough free time, but also made the training as interesting as possible without losing efficiency.

It was extremely demanding and challenging to do but, it's also very rewarding.

Alex was sure this his unique Pokemon training, is one of the reasons that the level speed of his Pokemon is so much faster compared to other Elite Trainers' Pokemon.

After being in the hotel's training room with his Pokemon for 1 hour, he went back, to his room.

Alex looked at the TV with a smile as he thought

'Hmm, even though Lt. Surge is better than Sabrina at tactics, it's also his only advantage in this fight. The downside of not having a Champion level Pokemon and Sabrina's psychic powers should be too great to offset it with only tactics.'

Alex thinks that he and Lt. Surge are very similar even if he thinks that he is a little better, tactically.

Both are extremely strong tactically, but neither of them can always turn that advantage into a win. Especially against opponents with a large power difference to them.

Alex especially remembered his fight against Steven's Metagross.

What brings a tactical advantage against such an opponent?

Luckily against Sabrina, Lt.Surge isn't that outclassed and he could win this fight if he plays his cards right.

Although, Alex still believes that Sabrina will win this fight.

Sabrina won against Koga, who has two Champion-level Pokemon. which is not something easy to do even with a type advantage.

The fight started and Sabrina's first Pokemon was her Champion level Alakazam.

She also boosted her Pokemon directly with her Psychic energy, making it similar in strength to what a 62-63 LV Pokemon would be.

Lt.Surge immediately changed his Pokemon and he directly started sending his strongest Pokemon against Alakazam.

Unfortunately, his Raichu was hit in the head by Alakazam's move, and Raichu was defeated after just one move.

Although that was a critical hit, it didn't look well that Lt. Surge's strongest Pokemon was defeated with just one hit.

Especially since Raichu was so close to having his combo move ready to use it, made it worse. He was defeated without being able to use it.

Alex was even a bit surprised himself 'Wow, that's unlucky.'

Lt.Surge tried to turn this fight but couldn't do enough damage to this Alakazam.

He lost 4 more Pokemon before he managed to defeat Alakazam despite showing so much tactical skill as a Trainer in those battles.

it turned into a 1 vs 5 fight.

Lt.Surge's last Pokemon was also defeated after, he managed to defeat two of Sabrina's Pokemon, thanks to the suitable tactic of Lt.Surge and his small level advantage. But in the end, it wasn't enough.

Sabrina won the Kanto Champion Tournament.
