Chapter 2012: A Dead-end
“Why are you here?” Xiao Yuqian asked, thinking that Ma Haodong was at his university.
“To help you, what else?” Ma Haodong said as he pulled Xiao Yuqian into his arms. “There’s no way I’m going to stand and watch as my woman is in trouble.”
“Thank you. I would never have gotten out of there if you didn’t come.”
“Where do you want to go now?” Ma Haodong asked.
“I need to meet with Lanlan.”
Ma Haodong immediately ordered his driver to drive them to where Nie Zhenglan was staying at. He didn’t follow Xiao Yuqian into the building as he waited in the car patiently.
Nie Zhenglan wasn’t surprised when Xiao Yuqian appeared at her doorstep.
“You saw the news, right?” Xiao Yuqian asked.
“I did, but what could I do?” Nie Zhenglan replied. “There’s nothing I could do to help him.”
“You’re wrong. You’re the only one who could help him now. If you don’t, it’s a dead-end for him,” Xiao Yuqian said anxiously as she grabbed Nie Zhenglan’s hands. “Do you really want to see all of his hard work going down the drain? It would be hell for him and you know it.”
“…”
Xiao Yuqian was right. Nie Zhenglan did not want to see that. Su Jimo was the only man she ever loved. Even if they weren’t married anymore, she still didn’t want anything to happen to him.
“But… What can I do to help him?” Nie Zhenglan sighed.
“You can! As long as the two of you get remarried! Do you know how many people were envious of him? So much that they would do anything to ruin him. The title he has puts him on the edge of a cliff, and someone wants to push him off…” Xiao Yuqian said. “You’re the only one that can save him. Please, just help save him, or else I’m going to go down with him too.”
Xiao Yuqian’s plea finally moved Nie Zhenglan as she agreed to help Su Jimo.
“Thank you…” Xiao Yuqian sobbed as she hugged Nie Zhenglan.
Xiao Yuqian then quickly contacted Su Jimo. With Ma Haodong’s help, Su Jimo and Nie Zhenglan became a married couple again.
Instead of saying that Nie Zhenglan helped Su Jimo because of their past, she helped him because she still had profound feelings for him.
After the procedure was completed, Xiao Yuqian rushed back to the company to prepare for the press conference.
The conference was held three days later. Reporters from most of the biggest media companies were present.
The public relations team of Huayin patiently explained and responded to all of the questions that were thrown at them.
In the end, Xiao Yuqian, as Su Jimo’s manager, took out the document that proved Su Jimo and Nie Zhenglan had married again.
“Please take a look at the document in my hands,” Xiao Yuqian said. “This is the official document that states Su Jimo and his wife, Nie Zhenglan, are still officially married.”
Even though it managed to silence some of the reporters, a few of them shifted their attention to the date.
“Miss Xiao, the document cannot prove anything. What if they got remarried just so Su Jimo could get out of this mess?” one of the reporters asked.
