Chapter 214: It's happening
Chapter 214: It's happening
Mia lay on the ground for a moment, stunned by the chaos that had just unfolded. As her soldiers rushed to her side, helping her to stand, she couldn't shake the feeling of disbelief and anger coursing through her veins.
"What in the world just happened?" one of her soldiers asked, his voice filled with concern as he supported Mia's weight.
Mia took a deep breath, trying to steady herself as she glanced around at the aftermath of the confrontation. Buildings lay in ruins, smoke billowing into the night sky, and wounded soldiers groaned in pain as they were tended to by medics.
"We were ambushed," Mia said, her voice strained. "Those girls... they weren't just villagers. They were armed, they were organized. And they knew who I was."
Her soldiers exchanged worried glances, murmurs of confusion rippling through the group.
"What should we do, Commander?" another soldier asked, his eyes darting towards the direction the girls had fled.
Mia's jaw clenched as she considered her options. Pursuing them would be futile at this point, and she knew they had more pressing matters to attend to.
"No," she finally said, her voice firm. "We have other priorities. We need to regroup, assess the damage, and fortify our defences. Those girls will have to wait."
But as she spoke, a strange sensation washed over her, starting from her feet and travelling up her body. It was as if gravity itself was losing its grip on her, and panic set in as she realized she was starting to float off the ground.
"Commander!" one of her soldiers exclaimed, reaching out to grab her arm as she began to rise.
Mia gritted her teeth, fighting against the strange force pulling her skyward. But she wasn't alone. Around her, other people were experiencing the same phenomenon, their cries of fear blending with the chaos of the battlefield.
"What's happening?" someone shouted, their voice tinged with panic.
Mia struggled to find an answer, her mind racing as she tried to make sense of the situation. But as she continued to float higher and higher, the world around her began to blur, and darkness crept into the edges of her vision.
And then, with a sudden jolt, a huge explosion happened in the ocean which Mia felt worried about since her goal of retrieving the Chixclub meteor that was under the ocean would become a dream for her, if something bad happened.
But then despite not being able to feel her body weight, Mia was able to see one thing that she didn't fancy.
"Nooo! Nooo! Why is the meteor flying back to the sky? How is this possible? It is not scientifically possible..." She thought to herself while others also witnessed this absurd scenery.
Meanwhile, in the forest, there were many people getting treated by Gundo's medic team that belonged to both Garnt's village and the seaside village.
Rona, Unami and Kara were there with their own injuries but none of them cared enough about their wounds because in front of them was Garnt his eyes open unable to react to anything that was happening in front of him.
Gundo would have been worried about what she was seeing unless Eva told her about what was happening with him, so she quickly asked the girls to not worry about him.
[He is still processing the information of the DNA that his body has. It is not strange for him to act like this, so don't worry. In about two or three days, he would become normal...I hope.]
Eva said that last part silently so Gundo wouldn't hear it, and just like Eva expected she didn't.
"Where is Telvi?" Looking at the girls beside her, Gundo questioned and Rona looked around with confusion because she knew that woman wouldn't leave Garnt's side unless she had something important to do.
"I have no idea...maybe she went to see what happened to her people but that's unlikely," Rona answered, but then Unami added something to the conversation.
"Didn't she mention something about her kid? So she might have gone to see what happened to him? Baktou is with that strange woman now, so he is the only family she has right now," Unami said and others nodded their heads.
But then they also witnessed and experienced the same thing that Mia and her soldiers experienced.
"What in the world is happening now?" Rona exclaimed, her eyes wide with alarm as she watched trees sway and leaves rustle despite the absence of wind.
"I don't know, but this can't be good," Unami muttered, her brow furrowed in concern.
Kara, usually the voice of reason among them, could only stare upwards in shock, unable to find words to describe the surreal scene of darkness unfolding before her.
Amidst the confusion, Gundo's thoughts raced. She couldn't shake the feeling that whatever was happening was connected to the earlier confrontation and the mysterious events surrounding Garnt's condition.
But before she could voice her thoughts, a familiar voice echoed from behind them. "What in the name of the sea is going on here?"
The group turned to see Telvi striding towards them, her expression a mix of bewilderment and concern and she was holding the hand of a child that looked oddly familiar to them because of his blond hair, but they knew it wasn't the time to question about this stuff.
"Telvi, you're back!" Gundo exclaimed, relief washing over her at the sight of the woman that she admired for picking the side of her son, but when she started to float with the boy she was holding Gundo started to realize things were not looking good for them.
She also started to feel her body lifting from the ground and the same thing happened with other girls, but luckily Rona and Unami were holding onto Garnt without letting him move.
"Look at the sky!" shouted one of the villagers from the seaside village, causing everyone to look up. In front of them was something they had never expected to see in their whole lives.
As the group looked up, their eyes widened in disbelief at the sight unfolding before them. Hundreds, no, thousands of meteor pieces were rising into the sky, glittering like stars against the dark canvas above.
It was as if they were witnessing something truly extraordinary that their eyes normally wouldn't be allowed to witness. It was a true wonder of nature that could be easily be called one of the greatest things that humans and animals alike have witnessed.
"By the sea... What in all the nature is happening?" Telvi muttered, her grip tightening on the child's hand.
"They're... they're shooting up into the sky!" Kara exclaimed, her voice trembling with awe and fear.
Indeed, the meteor fragments weren't just floating; they were ascending rapidly, streaking upwards like celestial fireworks. Neither of the humans on Garnt's side had any clue that they were meteor parts that Garnt was trying to find, so none of them were able to make comments on that. thanks-for-reading-on-NovelFire
Gundo's mind raced with a sense of urgency. "Eva, what does this mean? Is it related to our lives? Should we run away from this?" She questioned since she had the responsibility to make decision when Garnt was injured.
Eva's voice resonated in her mind, calm yet tinged with concern.
[This... this might be the sign we feared. The sign of something big coming.]
Gundo's heart skipped a beat. "Something big? What do you mean, Eva?"
[The meteor that destroyed dinosaur land and lives... it might be returning. And if it does, it could bring devastation once again. This is the event I have been wanting to happen before I arrived here.]
She also explained why she was saying these absurd claims before Gundo could question about them.
[These small rocks are the things that I wanted Garnt to find and they are the reason why I came here. Garnt know about all this and until now I thought something must have happened to prevent the real threat of the meteor from falling to this land but one thing about these rocks is they are magnetic...so this process of them getting going back to the sky means something big is getting close that can attract these rocks.]
She then added more context to this horrific event, she was trying to explain.
[It is a special kind of magnetism so the normal iron and other minerals won't be attracted to it. I think the big meteor is close and sooner or later we will experience the devasting impact that might cause some extinction of animals on this land.]
Gundo's eyes widened in horror at the implications. "No... We have to do something!"
But before she could formulate a plan, the ground beneath them trembled, and a deafening roar filled the air. It felt as if the very earth was crying out in agony.
[For now, just run away. Once Garnt wakes up, I'll see what I can do.]
Gundo took Eva's advice and told the girls about everything causing them to quickly act.
"We need to warn everyone!" Rona shouted above the din, her voice urgent.
Unami nodded in agreement. "Let's get to the village! We have to prepare!"
With grim determination, the group rushed towards the village, their hearts heavy with the weight of impending doom. They knew they had to act fast if they were to stand any chance against the cataclysm that threatened to engulf them all.
