Chapter 236: A red sky

Chapter 236: A red sky

As the sky turned crimson red, casting an eerie glow over the land, the air itself seemed to tremble with pain and heaviness. The once distant volcanoes now roared with fury, sending lots of ash and smoke billowing into the sky. Garo, their brave dinosaur, showed signs of distress, his massive form trembling as if in agony.

"What... what's happening?" Gundo's voice trembled with fear as she clutched onto Rona's arm, her eyes wide with disbelief.

Rona's heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to make sense of the chaos unfolding around them. "I don't know," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "But whatever it is, it can't be good."

Ayra, who would usually act first but couldn't because of her current condition, could only stare up at the crimson sky in silent horror. "This... this feels wrong," she murmured, her voice barely audible over the din of the raging elements.

"It's here! The thing that Garnt and I warned about. The thing that gives power to our bodies, I feel it reacting and calling me to join. It's like I want to go there, but I can't" Thora kept talking as she looked at the little girl beside her, who looked at everything with a worried face.

As the land itself seemed to convulse with agony, the once warring creatures now turned frantic, scrambling to escape the impending doom. Mammoths trumpeted in panic, their massive forms crashing into one another as they fought to reach safety of the land beyond the crack.

Sabertooth cats leaped and bounded, their sleek bodies darting between the chaos in a desperate bid for survival.

Even the humans beside Garnt's villagers, usually so sure-footed and resilient, now found themselves shaken to their core. Gundo, Rona, and Ayra could feel the very ground beneath their feet tremble, a palpable sense of dread hanging heavy in the air.

And then, as if to punctuate the chaos with a final stroke of terror, the first small meteor streaked across the sky, blazing a trail of fire as it plummeted towards the earth below.

Gasps of awe and terror escaped the lips of the onlookers as they watched in stunned silence, their hearts pounding with a mixture of fear and wonder. For a brief moment, the world seemed to hold its breath as the meteor streaked closer and closer, until finally, with a deafening roar, it crashed into the earth with a force that shook the very foundations of the land.

The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the ground, causing fissures to split open and rocks to tumble from the mountainsides. In its wake, the landscape was forever altered, transformed by the awesome power of nature unleashed.

"..." Nobody was able to talk because they felt the whole environment became silent for a few seconds to entertain this natural disaster.

Gundo, Rona, and Ayra could only stare in disbelief at the devastation unfolding before their eyes. What had started as a simple journey in search of a new home had now become a struggle for survival against forces beyond their comprehension.

"We need to find shelter, let's go toward the land beyond crack!" Rona shouted over the roar of the chaos, her voice barely audible above the din. "We can't stay out in the open like this."

Gundo on the other hand thought about hiding, her eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of refuge. "There's a cave over there," she called out, pointing towards a rocky outcropping in the distance. "We can make for that. If we run toward the crack now, we will die, so let's just hide and wait"

Everyone started to have divided opinion on the matter including Thora, who wanted to follow Rona until Garo decided to quickly act. He decided to quickly run toward the crack, as if he knew that land they are standing on was no longer safe.

"Gundo, what if that thing hit the cave? Think about it, all of will die," Rona shouted knocking some sense into Gundo's mind. "Garo and other animals can feel the danger and that's why they are running away instead of hiding, so we should do the same."

In this moment, all of them wished Garnt was there with them to lead them, and Gundo felt worried that Garnt might still be close to that explosion that happened just now, but she then nodded her head and agreed with Rona's decision.

With Garo leading the way, they scrambled towards the safety of the land beyond crack, their hearts pounding with fear and adrenaline. Behind them, the land continued to convulse with fury, as if the very earth itself was rebelling against their presence.

As they reached the end of the forest they were hiding, they huddled together, their breath coming in ragged gasps as they tried to make sense of the chaos unfolding around them. Outside, the sky continued to burn with an unnatural light, casting long shadows across the desolate landscape.

"What... what do we do now?" Ayra's voice trembled with uncertainty as she clutched onto Rona's arm, her eyes wide with fear and her other arm holding her stomach. Her other kids also looked at each other, and held their mother's body to support her.

"There are old people! children and pregnant woman like me who can't run. We will definitely die if we go there," She pointed at the land filled with chaos of the animals and other creatures.

Rona took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves in the face of overwhelming adversity. "We wait a bit," she said, her voice firm despite the tremble in her heart. "We wait for this storm to pass, and then we find a way to sneak past until then let's hope those big red things won't hit here."

Gundo nodded in agreement, her eyes shining with determination. "We've faced challenges before, and we've always come out stronger on the other side," she said, her voice steady with resolve. "We can't let this defeat us."

And so, they waited, huddled together in the darkness of the edge of the forest, as the world outside raged with fury. But even in the midst of chaos, a glimmer of hope remained, a spark of resilience that refused to be extinguished.

For as long as they stood together, they knew that they would never be truly alone. And with that knowledge burning bright in their hearts, they faced the unknown future with courage and determination, ready to face whatever storms may come their way.

And finally they saw the chance to enter the land, as most of the animals are now either dead or already entered the land beyond the crack.

they raced across the desolate landscape, the stench of death hung heavy in the air, making each breath a struggle. The children clung to their parents, their small bodies trembling with fear and exhaustion as they were carried over the treacherous terrain.

But the same could not be said for garnt's children, as they showed brave faces despite how scared they were. Especially Guni, who lead the old people with the help of Thora.

The elderly members of their group pushed themselves to their limits, their faces drawn with determination as they struggled to keep pace with the others. But despite their efforts, the journey ahead seemed daunting, with no end in sight to the horrors that surrounded them.

Just when it seemed like they might make it through unscathed to the land that is safe, a sudden commotion erupted ahead. Garo, their brave dinosaur companion, was being attacked by another creature, a fearsome T-Rex that had emerged from the chaos.

Garo got suddenly body slammed by the side, which caused him to loose balance and fall over. It was devesataitng to see their beloved animal getting attacked like that for the most of the people, but they were powerless in this encounter.

Panic surged through the group as they watched the brutal struggle unfold before them. Rona's heart clenched with fear as she looked from Garo to Unami, knowing that they had to act fast if they were to save their friend.

"Unami, take the spear and let's go help Garo!" Rona's voice rang out above the chaos, her eyes pleading with her companion to act swiftly. "Gundo will lead the group to the safe. There are no threats in front of us, but if something happen, Thora is more useful than both of us,"

Without hesitation, Unami grabbed the spear and darted forward with her friend Rona, her movements swift and sure despite the danger that loomed ahead. She knew that time was of the essence, and that they could not afford to hesitate if they were to save Garo from certain doom.

As Unami raced towards the fray, Rona followed close behind, her hearts pounding with fear and anticipation. Each step brought them closer to the danger that lurked ahead, but they knew that they could not turn back now.

With a fierce cry, Unami leaped into action, driving the spear deep into the side leg of the T-Rex with all her strength. The creature roared in pain, its grip on Garo loosening as it stumbled back, blood streaming from the wound, but it was just a mere small wound for it.

Seizing the opportunity, Garo fought back with renewed vigor, his massive form lashing out with claws and teeth as he defended himself against his attacker. With Unami's help, he was able to gain the upper hand, but now that the attention was on Unami and Rona, they were much more in danger than Garo.
