Chapter 94: Confession
Chapter 94: Confession
Unami and Kara crouched behind a gnarled oak tree, their eyes fixed on something mysterious hiding behind the same tree. Their faces were filled with curiosity and excitement.
"Is it happening?" Kara questioned, while Unami also nodded her head in agreement.
"It might be, this time."
As they peered cautiously from behind their arboreal cover, Garnt happened to spot them. With a mischievous grin, he approached and, in one swift motion, patted both of their backs. Startled and trembling, Unami and Kara jumped back in fear.
"Iyaaa, a snake!" Both of them exclaimed, their hearts racing, as they began to wipe their backs in fear, only to see the familiar face of Garnt.
"What in the world are you two up to?" Garnt inquired with an amused glint in his eyes, his head tilting to take a peek at whatever had interested them.
Unami heaved a sigh of relief, realizing it was only her lover. "Oh, Garnt," she said, "it's just you. We thought... well, you know, something strange was lurking here."
Kara nodded in agreement, a blush creeping onto her cheeks seeing it was none other than her own crush. "Yeah, we got scared for a moment."
Garnt raised an eyebrow, his curiosity piqued. "Scared? At what? Let me see what's got you two so rattled."
Peeking around the tree with his girls, Garnt's eyes fell upon Baktou, standing nervously beside a woman with an aura of anticipation. Baktou's heart seemed to race, and his cheeks bore a crimson hue. Unami leaned in and whispered to Garnt, "It looks like Baktou is about to confess his feelings to that woman."
Garnt's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Baktou? Confessing his love?" He couldn't believe that he hadn't heard about this sooner.
Unami shrugged and lowered her voice. "Well, we didn't want to bother you with such a small matter, especially during this important time."
Garnt shook his head and chuckled. "Unami, don't talk nonsense. My brother's love life is important to me as well. If you had told me, I could have given him some advice. After all, that is what brothers are for?"
"I'm sorry for assuming things, Garnt. But don't worry, it looks like things are going rather smoothly." Unami reassured him since she had faith in her brother, after all, how could he not be attractive when he looked exactly like Unami?
With Unami and Kara's attention returning to the unfolding confession, Garnt found himself fixated on the woman by Baktou's side. As he observed her, a moment of realization swept over him. "Wait a minute," he said, his voice filled with astonishment, "I know her! That woman is part of my mother's medical team, and she is-."
Unami nodded in agreement, adding, "Her name is Telvi. She's been working closely with your mother for years. Baktou must have fallen hard for her."
Garnt couldn't help but smile at the surprising connection. "Well, well," he mused, "looks like my little brother has good taste." His tone was one of genuine approval, after all, if she was from Gundo's medical team that meant she was a trustworthy woman.
As they continued to watch the scene unfold, Unami took a moment to share a heartwarming story. "You know, Garnt," she began, "Baktou fell for Telvi when she was taking care of him during his injury."
Kara chimed in, "It was quite the ordeal. When he got injured during Moga's battle, Telvi was the one who treated him. Baktou couldn't stop talking about her after that."
Unami continued, "Every time she visited to check on his progress, he would get this goofy grin on his face. It was clear that he was smitten, even if he didn't admit it."
Garnt chuckled, realizing that her brother's feelings had been brewing for quite some time. "I had no idea," he admitted, "but I'm glad he's finally mustering the courage to confess. Love can be a powerful force, and it's about time he expressed his feelings to a woman and started a family."
Hearing those words, both Unami and Kara looked at Garnt since both of them had their own feelings for the man behind them, but they knew it was time for Baktou to shine, so they decided to delay their own love story for a few minutes.
Unami, Kara, and Garnt all expected a heartfelt moment to unfold before their eyes. They anticipated seeing Baktou and Telvi hugging, their smiles radiating the joy of newfound love. But what happened next took them all by surprise.
As Baktou moved in for an embrace, Telvi unexpectedly stepped back and walked away, leaving Baktou bewildered and heartbroken. All three of them gasped in shock at the sudden turn of events.
Garnt, his brow furrowed, couldn't help but feel that something had gone terribly wrong. "What just happened?" he muttered to himself.
Unami, always the supportive sister, decided to get to the bottom of this. She turned to Garnt and reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll find out what's wrong."
Unami approached Baktou, who stood in the same spot with a sad and dejected look on his face. She asked gently, "Baktou, what happened with the confession?"
Baktou sighed deeply, his eyes downcast. "It's not what you think," he confessed. "Telvi, the girl I confessed to, has had a massive crush on Brother Garnt, for a long time. She couldn't accept my feelings because she's in love with him."
Unami couldn't help but hold her head in disbelief. The situation had become far more complicated than they could have ever imagined.
Baktou, unexpectedly, let out a small laugh. "Well," he said, his spirits lifting, "I guess it's only fair. Garnt has always been popular with the ladies and I can easily see why. If I was a woman, I would be too."
Unami was surprised to see her brother's sudden change in demeanour. Baktou looked refreshed, determined, and confident. He declared, "I'll become someone like Garnt, someone who's capable of anything, then I will confess to her again."
A proud smile crept across Unami's face as she heard her brother's resolute words. She leaned in and whispered, "You can do it, Baktou. And remember, I don't want any more rivals, so it's your duty to make that girl fall in love with you." Baktou nodded with determination, ready to face the challenges of her complicated love life with newfound confidence.
"So-" Unami hesitated, but she decided to ask whether it was okay to tell what happened to Garnt, who was watching them hiding behind the tree and Baktou nodded his head. 'I don't mind, I'm not going to ruin my relationship with him, just because of a girl,"
Unami could easily see that Baktou admired Garnt more than he loved Telvi, and she felt rather relieved that he wouldn't fight with Garnt.
"Garnt, you heard our conversation, didn't you?" Unami asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
Garnt stepped out from behind the tree, a wry smile on his face. "I may have overheard a bit," he admitted. "This is weird,"
Unami chimed in, her tone soothing. "Garnt, we're not blaming you for anything. It's just one of those complicated situations, and it's up to Baktou to handle it from here."
Garnt nodded in understanding. "You're right," he then added his own thoughts. "I think you can make that girl fall in love with you. She is blindly in love with me because I rescued her, if you prove that you're more important to her life than me, maybe she will forget me."
"Well, that's how it is. Even Unami and Ayra are no exception. Their love only developed into something special because both parties had an interest. If you didn't make an effort to nurture their love, they would still be blindly loving you without any growth.]
Eva added the most obvious thing, when it came to the love life of humans.
Kara, who was listening to the whole thing looked like she was witnessing another version of her and worried that she might be like Telvi, but she had to quickly refuse her insecurities.
'No! I still have a chance, unlike those girls. They are not close to Garnt, and he doesn't even know them, but I already have a special relationship with him. I just have to prove that I can be both sister and lover to him'
Finally, after everything, Garnt decided to change the subject since he didn't want to talk about Baktou's love life anymore.
"By the way, have you visited the mines recently?" As soon as Garnt asked that, the atmosphere got more tense and serious, as they knew that the mine was a bloody place with many bad memories.
"Yeah, we've been putting in a lot of effort to improve security and working conditions down there," he replied. "It's been a long and challenging process, but I think we've finally made some real progress."
He continued, his voice filled with determination, "My new team and I have been working tirelessly to make the mine a safer place for everyone. We've installed new safety measures, improved ventilation, and provided better training for the miners. It's not perfect, but it's a significant step forward."
Baktou's eyes brightened slightly as he shared some positive news, "I'm happy to say that the first batch of iron ores is due to arrive today. It's a significant milestone for us. We're determined to ensure that the iron processing goes smoothly and safely, without any of the accidents or problems that plagued this place in the past. It's a step toward making the mine a place we can be proud of."
Garnt nodded in understanding, acknowledging the difficult work Baktou and his team had put into the mine's transformation.
"I knew my choice was right, keep up the good work brother,"
