Chapter 121 - Creating Bloodlust?
Chapter 121 - Creating Bloodlust?
It was as if monsters charged as hordes of black-scaled humanoid beasts, and two identical humans slaughtered their way free, without caring what or who obstructed them.
It had been four days now and Shane couldn't even remotely understand what was going on, as he was unable to leave the battlefield that he had entered unknowingly.
The only thing that prevented him from crying in despair was the countdown he could see by thinking about the system, which slowly neared its end.
From this, Shane concluded that one hour outside the Dimension-sphere was 1 whole day inside the battlefield, which was a shocking thing to figure out.
He was not sure if this applied to all martial art techniques or solely because the [Slaughterer's path] technique required him to enter a battlefield in order to create killing intent and bloodlust at the same time while intertwining them with each other seemed to be the final goal.
Fortunately, Shane was already able to wield killing intent, otherwise, he wouldn't know how many times he would have died on the battlefield, as the pain one could feel within the Dimension-spheres was exactly the same, one would normally feel.
He would be lying if he were to say that it wasn't scary to die within the battlefield, but after being severed or smashed into a pulp several times, Shane could only hope that this charade would end soon.
Even if he completely focused on intertwining the bloodlust radiating from the curved longsword with his killing intent, it was impossible with his current capabilities.
Furthermore, the system didn't even explain anything, but just threw him into a battlefield with his double, which was already exerting the [Slaughterer's path] technique, perfectly.
Trying to learn from his double was extremely difficult and it was only partially helpful, but after almost five long days, he was finally able to intertwine his killing intent, which intensified over the last few days, with his sword's bloodlust.
It was only a single moment, but this was more than enough for Shane to feel a distinct, yet suppressed desire for blood overcoming his senses, causing his passive [Hunter's mind] to take action.
With the bloodthirst enveloping him for a moment, his passive [Hunter's mind] suppressed this immediately, causing Shane to wonder whether this was beneficial or not.
If he had to feel the bloodlust erupting within him, [Hunter's mind] would be a devastating disadvantage, which might even cause him to be unable to exert the Slaughterer's path technique.
However, after thinking for a moment, he concluded that this should not be the case, because Hunter's mind didn't suppress his killing intent the slightest.
As such, he assumed that it might be because the bloodthirst was seen as something similar to an attack on his emotions.
After intertwining his killing intent with the bloodlust one time, Shane was unable to do it yet again, before the countdown ended, with his surroundings turning back into the small white room he entered...five hours ago?
Not believing that only five hours passed, he left the Dimension-sphere with a bewildered expression, as he continued to release his whole killing intent subconsciously.
Seeing that an older female student was about to enter the Dimension-sphere, he stepped aside, only to see her retreating with quivering legs.
Looking at her face, he could see an expression full of horror, until he noticed what he did, and mumbled.
"Sorry...my fault." After retracing his killing intent, he hurried away.
Slapping his forehead, Shane called himself stupid, as he passed the guard he had met earlier.
Curious if he was really only five hours within the Dimension-spheres, he asked the middle-aged man who was not surprised to see him.
Hearing his question, he looked at him for several seconds, before he started to explain.
"You probably used the visualization function before bothering to read the manual, right? To be honest, this happens quite often for first-timers, but considering that you're still fine, without any visible issues, at least, I can tell, that your willpower is great!"
Nodding his head, Shane thanked the middle-aged guardian as he sighed before mumbling
"If I knew this, I would have read the manual instead of spending five days in hell…"
Suddenly, when he wanted to walk towards the elevator, he was held back, and turning around he noticed the middle-aged back holding his arm, as he asked
"You said five days?? What technique did you learn...Shane was your name, right?" The middle-aged man was shocked to hear that Shane entered a different time-space dimension, as he heard the words 'five days in hell', which caused him to disregard his task and approach the black-haired youth for a moment.
Seeing the middle-aged man's gleaming eyes, full of curiosity, he couldn't help but smile lightly, before he told him the truth
"I practiced the [Slaughterer's path] technique. It's a [Tier-1 (Gold)] martial art technique and quite hard to cope with...I was even transported on a battlefield and killed multiple times….It was extremely scary if I think about it now!"
Hearing Shane nonchalantly talking about being killed several times, he seized the youth up once again, while scanning his cultivation, before uttering
"Even Expert states normally don't want to learn the Slaughterer's path technique, because it's simply too much of a hassle to create both killing intent and bloodlust at such a young age and you are barely an Apprentice, while your bone structure tells me that you're barely 16 years…..You might act tough now, but you'll have to endure extreme hardships if you want to learn this technique to a high proficiency!! I speak from experience because I overestimated myself too, please think about your choice again!"
Shane felt that the middle-aged man only wanted to help him out as it seemed like he also wanted to learn the same technique when he was younger.
But rather than listening to his advice, hearing about the technique' difficulty, from the guard who protected the Dimension-spheres, which was only something a strong powerhouse could become, Shane couldn't help but smile lightly.
Seeing this, the guardian thought that the youth in front of him wanted to ignore his well-meant advice as he opened his mouth, only to hear Shane suddenly saying
"Thank you very much for this advice, mister, but I feel that creating my own bloodlust should only be a matter of time. I'm aware of the technique's difficulty, however, its lethality is incomparable to any other available Tier-1 technique, while I can't learn Tier-2 techniques yet...
I have to go now mister, thank you once again and I hope we meet again"
Bidding farewell, he turned around only to hear the middle-aged man sighing, before he mumbled
"Creating bloodlust is only a matter of time? What about the killing intent?! Can't he just wait to enter the expert stage to learn a Tier-2 technique in order to prevent wasting too much time on a Tier-1 technique as I did?"
It was definitely a good sign that the guardian cared about him, even though they didn't know each other and he was only a young student in his eyes, but he was unaware of one simple fact!
Even if it was highly likely that much time would pass until he was ready to enter the Expert stage, if his [Tier-1 (Mythic)] mission was extremely difficult or requested something that would require a high combat prowess, which was often something necessary for missions, he had more than enough time to spare, if the benefits outweighed the effort.
As such, Shane wanted to be prepared for everything, and learning the Shlaughterer's Path would bring him further ahead in his combat prowess.
