Chapter 297 - Initiated

Chapter 297 - Initiated

With one beast tide that occurred at the exact same time in all four directions with a huge number of beasts, the situation had worsened.

There were only a few hundred thousand humans against almost 30 million beasts!

Almost all of the beasts were at the Elite stage and most humans had reached the peak Expert stage with a mana purity of 60%.

This would, under normal circumstances mean that they had a great advantage, even more so because they were defending.

However, Shane and probably everyone else was fully aware that a huge quantity of beasts could easily overwhelm a small unit of stronger individuals!

The ratio was around 1 to 100, but Shane didn't think that this was the biggest issue.

According to his understanding, the Destar race was the main culprit that had invited doom and destruction over the shelter

This meant that they had utilized a high number of funds in order to convince or maybe even manipulate the four Overlord beasts in the surrounding areas.

Without a proper reason to do so, investing a huge fortune to destroy the shelter of an unknown race would be stupid.

Neither was the human race a threat to them nor was it necessary for the Destar race to act in the shadows.

If they had wanted to attack the RadiantRing, a quick ambush with a large army of the Destar race would've been more than enough to take care of every issue.

The Destar race had enough time to prepare themselves after all! It would've only taken one large-scale attack and the shelter walls and defenses would be destroyed.

The amount of funds they would have to invest might as well be less than what they had to utilize to gather 30 million beasts without anyone figuring it out.

Shane wanted to know why the Destar race had to act so secretively, but he had no time to do so because the army of Elite stage beasts led by an Awakened stage beast mixed into the fray every now and then.

Taking a deep breath, he instructed,

"Archers and Mages, please stay here or return to the shelter walls once the dangers will be too high to handle. I don't want to see anyone being injured, let alone die!

As for the rest, either make small groups or a large one around Kylia. Everyone should be fully aware that Kylia has to be protected, by all means, otherwise, a single injury might be the cause of your death or a sharp decrease in your combat prowess."

After he had instructed everyone, post revising his battle strategy considering the sheer number of Elite stage beasts that were rushing towards the defensive line with less than 200,000 humans at the Expert stage!

Earlier, his instructions had sounded half-hearted and relaxed as he had thought that the beast tide would be dangerous, yet not life-threatening for his Starlight guild.

They had several hundred thousand defenders after all!

Now, however, the situation had changed for the worse.

Thus he added,

"I'll venture out alone. With Cosmo, I can move around pretty fast, and Umbra will hinder you guys rather than being helpful!"

Miriam, who stood next to Shane was not sure who Cosmo or Umbra were, but when she saw that every member of the Starlight guild nodded their head as if Shane's words were logical, she couldn't help but sigh.

Shane heard this and averted his attention to her.

"I think you're fully aware that the situation has turned grave and the risk factors have increased exponentially, and it might be better if you venture out alone too!

You've yet to get to know everyone after all!"

Miriam simply nodded her head in response and a halberd with the length of around 2.5 meters manifested in her hand as she added,

"The beast tide is nearing us. I'll take care of the Greater Phantom Tiger at the backside. On my way, I might kill some beasts at the peak-Awakened stage too."

After Miriam had finished her words, a bow manifested in Shane's left hand while a quiver with a dozen arrows appeared in his other hand.

At the same time, everyone else prepared themselves to clash with the first wave of beasts as the first magic bolts had already been shot out of the ballistae and large-scale crossbows.

They had the largest range, and only a few archers were able to shoot their arrows so as to cross the same distance as the large-scale weapons.

Shane nocked an arrow at the [Tier-2 (Common)] grade and quality on the bowstring of the bow of destruction, Alaran, before he circulated mana through it.

Only a second later he pulled back the bowstring before he lifted the bow at a wide angle.

The [Eagle Eye] skill was already utilized, only that Shane inserted a little bit more mana into it in order to clearly look around as far as he could.

He let go of the bowstring and the arrow shot out with a *surr*.

After that, Shane wasted no time in checking whether the arrow hit the targeted beast or not as he quickly nocked another arrow at the bowstring.

Shane repeated the process thrice before the crowd of Elite stage beasts had arrived closer to the shelter wall which allowed the soldiers to finally utilize the mana-sphere crossbows.

The Starlight guild Archers had already followed Shane's example and shot all Awakened stage beasts they were able to target.

Less than five seconds had passed and more than three dozen late and peak-Awakened stage beasts had been killed by Shane and the other Archer with their [Tier-2 (Extraordinary)] bows and high-grade arrows.

After Shane had shot out the arrows he had wanted, both the quiver and bow disappeared into his spatial ring, before Mydra, the Sword of blood appeared in his hand.

Just a moment later, Cosmo had jumped out of the Hidden Paradise as he manifested a Spatial portal in front of Shane.

"The portal will be open for the next 10 seconds. Whoever feels like jumping straight into the fray, follow me."

These were Shane's last words before he rushed through the Spatial portal. Miriam, who had already been astonished to see the Lesser Starlet Fox appear in front of him out of thin air, couldn't help but involuntarily step back when she saw a gigantic head follow the fox and emerge right in front of Shane.

Shane was not sure why Umbra had wanted to leave the Hidden Paradise right before he jumped through the Spatial portal, but it was not like he would be at any disadvantage due to this.

Rather, Umbra had carved a small space for himself, revealing his gigantic body with a length of 100 meters..

Miriam was not sure what had happened, but when she heard a loud roar and a gigantic snake with the same gigantic head she had seen emerging out of Shane, she couldn't help but mumble in confusion.

"Are those Cosmo and Umbra?? SHANE IS A TAMER?"

She had never heard of a tamer that was as proficient in fighting close combat as Shane, and Miriam had been confident in assuming that Shane's bloodlust and the outburst of mana she had sensed during the incident at the mana awakening originated from a high-quality occupation.

However, that didn't seem to be the case!

Yet, just a moment later, the entire Starlight guild jumped after Shane one after another, only to hear Kylia mumble.

"If she thinks that Shane has a tamer occupation because he has tamed beasts, what else would she call him if she were to know more about him? God?"
