Chapter 390: Forbidden ability
It was a frown, and instead of evading the Invincible Scimitar that Shane had already swung towards her, Megane’s eyes were just turning pitch-black as she released something she had been instructed to hide from everyone.
It was an [Forbidden] ability she had obtained from the Sin of Gluttony which she could only activate if she used up her entire mana while being in a life-threatening situation that was unavoidable.
Megane had several dozen skills to make use of, but none of them would have been enough to protect her from the Invincible Scimitar’s attack.
Shane had simply been too fast for her to realize it.
This was the problem a marionette had! Her reaction time might be superior to everything, but she had restricted her strength according to the instructions she had received, thus forcing her to activate the forbidden ability. Using a hidden ability was always faster than unveiling restrictions, thus saving precious time in a battle.
Only she and a few others knew that the ability would injure her heavily as the aftermath of utilizing it, but that was still better than dying.
Shane hadn’t realized that he had been a fraction away from killing Megane, and he could only see the terror that unfolded in front of him!
Her light blue skin color was suddenly covered with black tribal runes that turned everything it touched into smithereens.
A faint membrane appeared around Megane devouring everything as she simply raised one hand towards the Invincible Scimitar, while her other hand had been stretched out, aiming directly for Shane.
At that moment, he noticed that death was infinitely close, right in front of him.
Shane’s mind blanked and his primal instincts took over his body as the Invincible Scimitar that was just about to be devoured by Megane vanished, entering the spatial ring.
Not even a second later, Shane’s ankles cracked loudly, as they twisted at an odd angle when Shane pushed them into the ground with all his might, forcing his advance to stop.
He could only see Megan’s right hand reaching out to him, devouring the mana that enveloped him at a rapid speed, only to advance without taking a second to digest the energy.
Despite this terrifying sight, his blank mind allowed Shane to push himself up from the ground, using every ounce of strength left within him.
A jolt of pain shot up from his broken ankles straight to his brain as his body cried under the unbearable pain, and Shane just regained his senses as he shouted in his head.
‘Cosmo, NOW!!’
A moment after he requested Cosmo’s support, his tamed beast had already emerged behind him, as he utilized his [Space Jump] ability.
Both Umbra and Cosmo had watched the entire fight, and they felt frustrated seeing how many injuries Shane had sustained, only to fight head-on against the bipedal monster that the Dark Ice Elf was.
Unfortunately, they were too weak to help and would have turned into a burden for Shane, who was glad to have been able to fight against Megane.
He had forced her to utilize something terrific, something she seemed to have never utilized.
Even more important to Shane was that he had seen a reaction from Megane, who had behaved like a robot during the entire Primordial tournament.
Just at that moment, he and Cosmo crashed into the verdant grass that grew next to the arena and a faint smile emerged on his face.
“That was amazing!” He mumbled before the mana and excitement that had held Shane together were slowly dispersing, leaving behind a wrecked body.
Pain spread through his entire body, and Shane’s brain was bombarded with information.
Shane was completely drained and every cell in his body ached.
He couldn’t even look up to see what was happening or see the system notification that had manifested in front of him.
[System announcement- The last |Basic| Primordial tournament has concluded, congratulations to the winners, and every participant!]
In the end, he didn’t even notice that the space around him twisted as he was thrown out of the dimension in which the primordial tournament had been held.
Unbeknownst to him, he was still lying in lush grass.
A puddle of blood formed on the wet soil below him, as the effect of the overlapped [Berserk] usages had worn off.
Shane, who was bone tired, couldn’t even sense anything as his eyelids turned heavier.
He was utterly exhausted and couldn’t ignore his body’s pleas to take a long rest.
Closing his eyes, Shane didn’t even notice a large group of beings emerging from dozens of portals all around him.
**
“Fuck! Is he still alive?!?” A man with a haughty voice shouted, only to be hit by three women who stood next to him.
The bulky man with the physique of a blacksmith rubbed his hand and shoulder which he had been hit, only to gaze intently at Shane.
His teasing expression turned serious as he bit on his lip with worry gleaming in his eyes.
“Shane will be fine, right?”
At that moment, the woman who had arrived in front of Shane couldn’t help but reprimand him, her worry and fear clearly visible, “Kai, just shut up please!! You’re seriously no help at all!!”
A bunch of a dozen potions appeared next to her, and every single one had a tremendous amount of mana currents radiating from them.
The smell of herbs wafted through the air the moment she uncorked a vial, invigorating everyone.
Carefully opening Shane’s mouth, she drained the contents of the vial completely into it.
After that, his body began to glow faintly, but that was all.
This caused the woman to stiffen and everyone noticed that Shane was still bleeding without a single sign of improvement.
“Is..th-that not enough?!” Loris stuttered with desperation slowly overwhelming her.
Picking up another potion, she emptied it into Shane’s mouth again, only to notice that his body was still demanding for more. The blood oozing out of his body lessened but he was still in grave danger!
Only after the fifth emptied vial did he stop bleeding which caused everyone in the surroundings to look at the bloodied youth in shock.
It was only when Kia Mel opened her mouth that everyone regained their senses.
“Didn’t you give him the [Instant sanctification] potions??”
“I-I did…”
Suddenly, someone who hadn’t spoken a word exclaimed,
“Weren’t you only able to gather the ingredients to brew a total of 12 [Instant sanctification] potions during the last 20 years?! How come a potion recipe we found inside the ancient ruins of an advanced primordial dimension is worth so little?”
It was Lars Kriez, the marshal of mankind’s army, who couldn’t help but stare at Shane in shock.
He had never seen his little nephew so gravely injured, let alone on the verge of death.
This was exactly how everyone else was feeling right now, that Shane was slipping away from them.
Loris was barely suppressing her tears, holding Shane in her arms, while Gabi had already started to cry, holding Shane’s hand.
Even Kai, who had teased Loris before, could barely contain his tears, as a deep voice emerged from behind.
“Let’s be glad that Shane’s manager informed us at the right time…the [Instant sanctification] potions are genuine, and who knows how close he was to dying…to devour five of them…”
It was John Stella, Jason’s father, who had said this!
Shane’s aunts, uncles, and his father had received a sudden emergency signal from their attendants after Talia had witnessed how weird Umbra and Cosmo had behaved a few minutes earlier.
It was only shortly before Shane’s fight with the Dark Ice Elf ended that she had taken a glimpse through the portal of the Hidden Paradise, finding the state Shane had been in.
Talia hadn’t even been sure whether Shane was alive or nearly dead at that time, and it was only due to a certain ability that worked similar to Shane’s [Hunter’s mind] that she had been able to think rationally.
Thus, she had messaged Miriam while using all kinds of other means to reach Shane’s family that was the most likely option to help him.
In the end, she didn’t know where Shane would land the moment he emerged from the dimension in which the primordial tournament was held.
As such, everyone had entered the Hidden Paradise through the Space door on Neptua Ladra.
Shortly thereafter, Shane had already been thrown out of the dimension with the system notification that had reached everyone ending the basic primordial dimension’s tournament.
Shane was still alive and he had been thrown to the Neptua ladra region, near the Astral Starlight faction’s territory.
He was not endangered anymore, but his entire body, mana veins, and mana pool were severely injured!
Everyone thought that he would receive a permanent injury from that, maybe enough to render him unable to fight ever again!
Suddenly the entire region trembled as huge tidal waves drowned Neptua ladra’s beach with huge mana currents radiating from one specific location.
[What happened to Shane??]
