Chapter 406: Speed run

Shane’s plans were advancing at a rapid pace, and exactly as expected, the shelter near the Miac race didn’t have many guards, let alone high defense fortifications.

They had relied on the Miac race’s backing and trusted them too much. At the same time, they had probably been asked to stop advancing in the radiant ring mountain dimension as the Miac race’s shelter was too close.

Nevertheless, it had been counted as a shelter strong enough to defeat a beast tide with three overlords.

As such, Shane’s mission count had increased to a total of six with more than 20 days left to finish his mission.

Yet, instead of advancing and searching for the next four shelters, Shane and the Conquerors rested for the next six days!

This was long enough for Shane to gather the ingredients required to advance the lesser forest spirit to the [Mystic] quality which was probably the highest quality it could reach.

Its loyalty was still increasing, at a slower pace, but that was something he had expected.

With only two weeks left for his last mission, Shane should have been angsty, which was exactly how his entire family and most members of the Astral Starlight faction were feeling.

However, Talia and a few others were extremely calm and Shane asked with a crafty smile on his face.

[In the next three days we will conquer the remaining four shelters! Is everyone prepared to work overtime?!]

This announcement resounded through the entire Hidden Paradise, scaring all his faction members who had just dozed off, while the Conquerors who had waited for the next operation jumped up, voicing out their excitement.

Shane planned to do a speedrun to conquer the last four shelters, without missing the chance of taking the conquered shelters’ goods.

This was only possible because of one particular item Shane valued a lot; Space doors!

Several weeks passed since Shane had sent out his scouts and their final mission was to set up the two space doors they had been given.

Each of them was connected to another Space door that had been given to another scout which would allow Shane to move from one shelter to another!

This plan had its flaws but they didn’t obstruct him in any way. The scouts would have to carry the expensive Space doors on their return trip to the RadiantRing that would take several weeks.

Nevertheless, this was nothing in comparison to the value the Space doors had.

Not only would nobody know where he and his Conquerors would appear but it would also be mysterious and tricky to find out whether the ‘real’ Conquerors attacked or the ‘Faker’ who were already becoming popular on PrimWeb.

There were several races voicing out their anger on PrimWeb, but Shane couldn’t care less.

He had other things to pay attention to as it was more important to conquer every shelter as quickly as possible without sustaining any casualties only to deprive the other races of their goods!

Shane assumed that most basic races were extremely tense because of the Primordial dimensions situation in addition to the Dark Ice Elves that were wreaking havoc in the real world!

And to add to this pressure, there were disguised beings that attacked several shelters that had seemingly no connection to each other at all!

The shelters Shane had attacked and seized were those that had attacked mankind’s shelters because of the bounty that had been announced by the Dark Ice Elves, while only the shelters belonging to the Destar, Miac, and Kiar race were a part of the Miac alliance.

Thus, it would take most races a few more clues before they would understand what was going on.

Nevertheless, Shane couldn’t care less about this, because one of his scouts had emerged from the Hidden Paradise, after placing a Space Door at the designated location.

This allowed Shane to emerge a few kilometers away from the first shelter which he wanted to destroy on his speedrun.

Meanwhile, the scout would take away the space door and return to the RadiantRing shelter to use the Dimension Portal.

Without wasting any time, Shane used the Space door that transported him to a shelter far away from his current location.

He found himself on top of a large mountain that was covered with heavy snow and took a good look around before he saw one of the scouts he had sent away to set up the Space doors.

The young man was shivering in the cold and Shane couldn’t help but smile bitterly asking himself why the scout didn’t take out warm clothes.

Accessing the spatial ring, he took out a few sets of warm clothes which the Astral Artisans’ weaver had manufactured before he handed them to the scout.

“Good job, I will return in a few hours, and then you may return. Ask Talia for a bonus and tell her that I said you deserved one!”

With a faint smile on his face, Shane left the scout who had momentarily forgotten about the cold as he thanked him before putting on the warm clothes.

The shelter he targeted was at an extremely weird spot, as it was at an even higher altitude than the mountain he was currently on.

Activating the mana fluctuation concealing device, his mana fluctuations became extremely difficult to perceive through the large-scale mana radars.

This allowed him to appear right in front of the shelter only two hours later as he sighed deeply.

“Why would they build a shelter on top of a mountain?!?” Shane mumbled, annoyance spreading through every single word he spoke before his focus returned to the shelter.

There were several advantages one received by establishing the shelter on top of a mountain with the topmost being it was extremely difficult to conquer it.

At the same time, there were not many positions one could place siege weapons on, which prevented Shane from using the catapult strategy once again.

However, that was not even what Shane had wanted to do, to begin with.

Instead, he would use the old tactic of using a grappling hook!

For the last few weeks, Shane had tested out a few tricks with the grappling hook, and he was confident of having become more proficient with it.

As such, the moment he stood in front of the shelter wall, a grappling hook manifested in his hands.

The mana frequency distortion device was still activated which was the reason for Shane to concentrate on the grappling hook instead of using Umbra to throw himself into the air!

This would expose him before he had gotten the opportunity to observe his surroundings as well as the number of opponents he would have to face.

Throwing the grappling hook towards the top of the shelter walls, Shane noticed that they had found something to hold on to just on his first try.

Delighted, he tested if the grip was firm before he climbed up the wall stealthily.

The walls were large and more than 20 meters in height, and with Shane’s strength, he might even be able to almost cross that distance by exhibiting his entire strength.

However, that would also force him to be fully focused on his jump and mana circulation.

Yet, what he expected even less to happen when he had jumped on top of the shelter wall was that there was already a large group of elite guards waiting for him!

“Oh? Someone saw me?…What a shame that you guys allowed me to enter the shelter, aren’t you guys too confident?”
