Chapter 421: Experiment
The meeting went on for a few more hours in which Shane didn’t speak a lot.
He was occupied with something that was, at least, as important as the words spoken in the meeting.
As such, he rather focused on his ability to figure out whether or not he was still able to increase his soulbonds’ quality, let alone allowing them to evolve by taking the strongest evolution path.
Without being able to access the system for this, everything about his ability had become extremely difficult.
It was only because of this, that Shane realised just how much he had relied on the system’s guidance so far.
Thanks to that, he was not angry at the creator for implementing a new rule, but instead, Shane was glad about it.
There were many difficulties it had created, but all of them could be overcome, and Shane had several clues to figure out a solution.
By taking out the necessary items to increase Umbra’s quality, which he had purchased a long time ago, Shane wanted to do an inventory check of sorts. This would allow him to determine whether something was important for his soulbonds’ quality enhancement or even the evolution.
In the end, he wasn’t left with many items, but there was one thing he was able to perceive by accessing the ability he had.
After activating the ability, Shane could see specific things he was unable to see earlier.
As such, he could even perceive that the items in front of him were required to increase Umbra’s quality as a faint black hue began to envelop them the moment he had activated his ability.
It was only then that Shane began to wonder if the Innate Taming Skill was truly something that belonged to the Susurro race.
There was something weird Shane had noticed earlier which was that everything belonging to the Susurro race was already connected, while his ability was set aside from that!
As such, one could say that there was a package about the Susurro race for his blessing and the ability he seemed to have.
‘Does that mean the Innate Taming Skill I had before was torn apart, into something that belongs to the Susurro race and another ability?’
This would make the most sense while also sounding the least likely, and Shane could tell that it was exactly the case.
With his ability, it seemed to be possible for him to perceive whether certain items were necessary to increase his soulbond’s quality or potential, and Shane was sure that this was not everything.
With that thought in mind, Shane left the main hall hurriedly the moment everything important had been discussed.
At that moment, Uncle Lars shook his head before he said,
“Does he really think we didn’t notice anything? Sometimes, I really think that he lives in his own small world…”
Max, who sat next to him could only nod before he sighed deeply as he added,
“I guess everyone has also noticed that he has become much stronger compared to two weeks ago…Not only can he suddenly wield affinities, but it looks like his physical strength and mana pool’s size increased by a lot due to his soulbonds’ amplification…”
He was jealous and felt demotivated because Jason was much stronger than any of them had been at his age.
However, at that moment even Miriam mumbled,
“Maybe he can defeat me, even after I liquefy my mana?”
The others didn’t know what to say about that because Miriam had been able to reach a mana purity of [98%] which was far higher than anyone else from the human race had ever attained.
That was if one were to leave out Shane, whose strength was increasing at a rapid pace.
With a mana purity of [98%], Miriam’s physical strength, as well as her mana pool, should increase by more than twice once she liquefied her first drop of mana.
As such, hearing that she was wondering whether Shane would be strong enough to defeat her or not caused Talia, and the attendants to look at the Starlight’s guildmaster in astonishment before Talia whispered to her.
“Are you serious? Like…aren’t you exaggerating Shane’s strength because his family is here?”
Talia knew that Shane was extremely strong, otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to achieve the second rank in the Primordial tournament.
Other than that, she knew that he hadn’t reached his peak in the Basic primordial dimensions while participating in the primordial tournament.
However, to think that Miriam was elevating Shane’s strength to such an extent sounded like an exaggeration, but she was confused to see Miriam shaking her head.
Sighing, she could only say,
“I guess you didn’t sense it. His mana pool is already twice as large as mine and his physical strength alone would be enough for him to defeat me.
There is not even the need for him to use a single trace of mana, or one of the affinities he has just obtained, let alone a weapon…”
Miriam felt bitter accepting that because she wanted to stay at par with Shane, only to realise that the bloodline awakening he had undergone increased his strength tremendously.
‘Just what kind of existence were the Susurro race, and why does Shane have their bloodline? Does every human on Igra have that bloodline, and if that’s so, how come we never knew about that?’
Somehow, Miriam felt as if she was entering an existential crisis and by looking at the 12 Uniters, she could tell that everyone was trying to suppress their jealousy. John Stella, who could read the room, smiled lightly as he remarked,
“I guess we have some hope for a bright future, after all?”
Nobody had ever said it out loud, but it was evident how grave mankind’s situation was.
Even if they were able to survive, the only planet they could colonize without the need to wage war against another race would be nothing but a small planet.
As such, everyone had secretly thought that mankind would enter an era of stagnation before they would rebuild everything, let alone advance in terms of strength, technology, and so on.
Nevertheless, nobody dared give up, and it was only when John Stella had said the last words with a faint glint in his eyes did everyone notice that the cold, former president of the Stella federation was still a father and a proud one at that!

Though, Shane had been oblivious to that. Instead, he was fully focused on his task at hand.
While calling all of his tamed beasts out of his soul world, Shane took out several materials he had already procured a long time ago. While there was no change in Umbra, and Cosmo’s appearance the lesser forest spirit, had morphed into a humanlike being with a wooden mask that covered its non-existing face.
Those were the items he had found inside the fluare tower dungeon, as well as the items’ Umbra required to increase his quality.
While Cosmo and the lesser forest spirit he had named Viridy had already reached the highest possible quality for their race, Shane’s first task was to figure out whether all items were glowing in a faint hue, or not.
There should be certain differences which was what he wanted to experiment with.
Utilizing his ability that was related to his bloodline, he found the necessary items to increase Umbra’s quality, while the remaining items didn’t reflect any glow.
In the end, there was only one item of low quality that glowed, and it was also one of the items Umbra required to increase his quality.
It was a duplicate copy but its glow was fainter than the one he had to use for Umbra.
As such, Shane comprehended that his ability allowed him to see the items his soulbonds required to increase their quality while distinguishing their quality according to the hue’s glow!
With that discovery, he was already satisfied, as Cosmo, who was annoyed about being ignored, jumped towards Shane, whose eyes were currently closed.
He was trying to figure out more about the ability he was still utilizing, only to see something that caused him to exclaim the moment Cosmo came in touch with him!
