Chapter 463: Distraction

Chapter 463: Distraction

Manifesting a spatial portal in front of himself, Shane appeared on the ground before he rushed ahead, directly into the most crowded area of the battlefield.

There were a total of 11 beasts he had to pay attention to, with the Lesser Behemoth being the strongest.

However, at the same time, it was the slowest Myst stage beast present, despite its extraordinary strength and defense capabilities.

As such, Shane couldn’t help but ignore the Lesser Behemoth for now.

The Conquerors had many more issues to face right now, despite their opponents being much weaker than the Lesser Behemoth.

This was mainly because they were fighting a variant beast that had grown wings, further increasing its speed.

It was a Greater Darkness Lynx with wings, making it one of the most dangerous opponents to the Conquerors.

The liquefied mana drops of the Lynx were at a much lower quality than the Lesser Behemoth’s, which resulted in a huge difference in their combat prowess.

Unfortunately, this did not make a huge difference to the Conquerors because they had a mana purity of [90%] and more though they had yet to even start the liquefaction process!

As such, it was already a wonder that they had survived the onslaught of 10 Greater Darkness Lynx that was flying through the sky, and diving into the most crowded area with an aim to devastate the discipline and send the Conquerors in a frenzy.

Shane had seen that everyone was trying to move back to the shelter, trying to leave back to Igra, but that didn’t seem to be so easy.

Otherwise, the shelter wouldn’t look like it had already been conquered, while they were fighting outside the shelter walls.

Other than the Valkyries and the Conquerors, there were many more talented members of his faction who had just wanted to complete their large-scale system mission, only to become the victim of a vicious attack.

This enraged Shane, making it impossible for him to control his bloodlust-killing-intent that had only been faintly released to envelop his body.

Erupting in fury, Shane’s bloodlust was fully unleashed as his surroundings were swept with it.

Increasing his speed by circulating even more mana into the Light steps movement technique, Shane shot through the alley reaching the shelter wall in no time.

Manifesting a spatial portal, he simply emerged on the other side of the destroyed shelter wall instead of jumping over it as it would decrease his speed.

The ten Greater Darkness Lynxes were fighting together, acting like herd dogs that looked over their sheep, only to tear apart those that were about to break out of the formation.

Yet, at the same time, they attacked the most crowded area, ripping apart and squashing those that were unable to protect themselves.

It was as if they were playing around, and Shane’s rage increased further when he noticed this.

The Greater Darkness Lynxes’ were also utilising their darkness affinity in order to manifest a few darkness spears once in a while.

However, rather than fighting seriously, even their affinity utilisation looked like they were toying around with the humans.

On one hand, it was great that they weren’t fighting seriously because it allowed Shane to rescue his comrades, but on the other hand, it would leave serious mental scars on the minds of the Conquerors and other faction members.

While his bloodlust-killing-intent was seeping through the air, Shane had still to be discovered yet, which was mostly owing to the fact that the Lyxnes were occupied with playing around.

Flying through the air, they felt as if they were omnipotent, knowing that they were only in basic dimensions, where no beast like them should exist.

In the end, this assumption was exactly what had been their biggest mistake.

Overestimating their own capabilities and underestimating the strength of the human race proved to be their fatal error!

It was only when Shane had emerged below the Lynxes’ that he was noticed, but he had quickly disappeared before all of them could get a proper look at him.

Suddenly, bloodlust seeped through the air where the Lynxes were located, only to turn around where they saw a being clad in bloodlust with eyes full of rage.

The tremendous energy currents he released made the Greater Darkness Lynxes gape in fear.

Their instincts told them to retreat despite having liquefied more drops of mana than the wingless being right in front of them.

While they had an average of 10 liquefied drops of mana, Shane had only two. But the biggest difference was that he had to use more mana to liquefy a single mana drop and that his mana drops were at a perfect quality without a single impurity.

This was not the case with the Lynxes’ mana drops, thereby turning Shane into a more powerful existence.

Despite not having wings, Shane was unbothered and stared menacingly at the beasts that began to cower a little.

He used his entire proficiency of the nature and wood affinity to shoot out several thick roots out of his empty hand, trying to tie the flying Lynxes together.

It was not the best tactic, but he needed the Lynxes to be focused only on him, giving the others on the ground the time to flee towards the Dimension portal.

That was the only thing he could do for now, and it should be more than enough as he had managed to distract every single Lynx that was flustered and tried to get rid of the roots strangling it.

At the same time, Shane inserted a large amount of mana into the Invincible Scimitar that began to vibrate lightly as a thin milky hue enveloped it.

Shane’s desire to kill was evident as he lashed at the closest Greater Darkness Lynx.

Without hesitation he slashed out, only to retract the Invincible Scimitar, whose first attack hadn’t killed the Lynx ahead of him.

Never having fought a beast at the Myst stage, Shane had yet to figure out how strong they truly were as well as their defensive capabilities.

King Awakened stage beasts and Myst stage beasts were completely different, and he was only able to figure that out now.

‘I should have supplied more mana into the Scimitar…it’s not like I cannot enhance the weapon’s sharpness until the material breaks!!’

With that thought in mind, Shane did the same, increasing his weapon’s sharpness by inserting more and more mana into it, ignoring every warning sign his gut feeling gave him.

Too many things had gone wrong during the last few minutes, with the biggest issue being the Lesser Behemoth owing to its strength and the sheer number of Lynxes that were wreaking havoc in the rows of Conquerors.

The mana was supplied by the soul world’s energy storage that had absorbed the excessive mana radiating from the ancient magi trees.

Thus, after the Invincible Scimitar had been strengthened, Shane slashed out with his blade at the closest Lynx, whose fur he had grasped with his empty hand the moment he had attracted every Lynx’s attention.

Slashing and hacking once again, Shane beheaded the Lynx without giving it the opportunity to retaliate.

After that, the gravitational force pulled him to the ground, into which the beast and the headless corpse crashed with a sickening thud.

Soil and rubble flew in the air, covering Shane in dust and blood as heard Miriam shouting out a warning to the Valkyries. Following her voice, he turned his head towards them.

Forcefully releasing a large amount of mana, the Lesser Behemoth suddenly shrunk in size, changing its form, and allowing it to reach a shocking speed.

Through this, it emerged right in front of the Valkyries and Aisha who were protected by her Inherited Skill [Holy Saintess] before.

Shockingly, the Lesser Behemoth had patiently waited for the moment when their protection layer would vanish, only to appear in front of the Valkyries, including Aisha and Frer.

Without hesitation, it enveloped its long tail with mana, shaping the layer of mana that was commonly used as protection into razor-sharp spikes, before piercing out.

Blood splattered through the surroundings as pained screams resounded through the entire shelter. With wide eyes, Shane witnessed how the most powerful military unit was being destroyed by a simple swipe of the Behemoth’s tail.

“Aisha…Frer!!”
