Chapter 98 - Shirai-Academy
Chapter 98 - Shirai-Academy
The train arrived at the station which led them to the Shirai academy. The two girls stopped playing when they noticed that Shane was sleeping, as Olivia exclaimed.
"Woah, he looks even better while sleeping...how is that possible?!" Saying so, she poked his cheek. Shane instantly opened his eyes, as one of his hands instinctively unsheathed his dagger.
Meanwhile, he used his other hand in order to push away Olivia's finger, and grab her neck, firmly gripping her throat.
Without wasting a second, the unsheathed dagger advanced towards Olivia's neck, as Shane released his complete killing intent. He had been half asleep but he finally shook his head and noticed that he was about to kill someone.
Retracing his killing intent, he immediately sheathed his dagger and loosened his firm grip around Olivia's throat before he apologized multiple times.
Aimy could only stare in shock at what had happened in front of her when she finally realized that her friend had almost been killed.
Pushing Shane away, she neared Olivia to check if she was fine, only for her to see a red print on her neck, as she looked into her eyes.
However, what she saw there shocked her even more because Olivia's eyes were gleaming brightly, as she exclaimed.
"He is the real deal!!" Seeing the gleam in Olivia's eyes confused Aimy. But more than that, she was also scared because she hadn't been able to help her best friend out, even though Shane was barely at the Mortal stage.
'Who is he?' She started to wonder, as she turned her full attention towards Shane, who looked extremely apologetic. His expressions told her that it was only his instinctive reflex that had made him hurt Olivia inadvertently, even if she was still frightened.
Realizing that made her feel even more conflicted, and she could roughly understand what Olivia meant.
However, before anyone could respond an announcement told them that the doors would be closed in 30 seconds.
Hearing this they forgot their little scuffle, as the three of them rushed out of the train. They had arrived in Milur, the city where the Shirai academy was located.
Shane was still shocked to have almost killed Olivia, but even more so, that he had fallen asleep with two people he barely knew next to him. It was weird because he never let his guard down around strangers...
He apologized to Olivia once again, who approached him with fast strides, holding his hands, as she exclaimed excitedly with gleaming eyes.
"How can you act like this instinctively?! Where did you gain your killing intent from? It can't be true that you manifested a killing intent in just a month since you entered the Primordial Dimension? Let me in on your secret….please!!!"
Both Aimy and Shane were astonished by Olivia's behavior. Aimy dragged her away from him because the position they were in was extremely awkward.
Shane was glad that Olvia and apparently also Aimy had accepted his apology without holding a grudge against him. As such Shane tried to answer her question as a means to say sorry.
"There is no secret to manifest a killing intent, it just takes time and many deaths at your hands...It took me years and it's not really something to feel good about."
Hearing this, Olivia's heightened expectations almost immediately plummeted, but hearing that it takes years was something both Aimy and her hadn't expected. It meant that Shane had traveled to the Beast zones on Igra, which not many parents would do with their children because it was extremely dangerous.
The two of them realized that Shane was more mysterious than they had initially thought. Olivia had already forgotten that she was almost killed, and was clearly mesmerized by him. Instinctively, she blurted out.
"Let's go to the Shirai Academy!! Let's have some fun...I want to fight!!"
Smiling, Shane nodded his head as he also wanted to get to know his opponents. He recalled Olivia and Aimy's strength or rather cultivation and body refining stage, causing him to ponder for a moment, as he mumbled.
'They will divide the combat rankings into stages, right?' The thought gave him a slight headache and he hoped that his estimation was correct. Otherwise, he would have a small issue obtaining a seat for the Dimension-sphere in the combat ranking.
Calling for a shuttle, the three of them waited together and Olivia chit-chatted a lot, causing their surroundings to be noisy, as she spoke about all kinds of things.
Apparently, both Olivia and Aimy came from a slightly above average household. They had been gifted with a [Tier-2 (Gold)] mana gathering, a [Tier-2 (Gold)] mana purifying (60%), and a [Tier-2 (Gold)] body refining manual with a weapon of their choice at their birthdays.
However, that was everything they had received, which was a good decision taken by their parents in Shane's opinion. This meant that the two girls would have to earn combat experience in order to earn funds to purchase cultivation resources and other things.
Shane didn't know this, but it was already seen as normal and a tradition for parents to gift their children a weapon of their choice at the age of 16, and the set of three [Tier-2 (Gold)] manuals.
This was extremely well thought of in Shane's opinion. It would ease the youth's time to become stronger while creating enough pressure to leave the safe shelter walls, become stronger and earn funds.
He definitely approved of such a tradition. Shane smiled gently and listened carefully as Olivia shared her life story and past experiences, without holding anything back.
While sitting inside the self-driving shuttle, even Aimy's initial hesitation seemed to melt slowly, because Shane seemed innocent to her as he listened to them talk in fascination.
The shuttle arrived at the gigantic-sized fenced plot of the Shirai academy one hour later. Shane paid with the Primordial Dimension's currency, which was accepted everywhere before he got out of the shuttle.
Looking around, Shane could only praise the vast area the Shirai Academy claimed, as they approached the large gate, with two guards standing in front of them.
Somehow, he found these guards shabby, but only if he compared them to the guards that protected the Stella mansion.
However, considering that all of the guards around the mansion he previously lived in were at the peak of the Intermediate Dimension, there were not many who were not shabby compared to them.
The three students approached the guards, who requested their IDs, as a small holographic screen with several thousand names appeared in front of them.
Shane was the first to go in, and he only showed his full name [Shane Suro] and his race, which was clearly [100% Human], for him to be let through after the guards ensured that he had been accepted into the academy.
After his name was ticked on their long list, it was Aimy and Olivia's turn to go through the same procedure.
Nothing major happened and the two of them were let through, as multiple floating busses with several dozen if not hundreds of presumed students arrived in front of the school gate.
It was barely 7 am, and the three of them were already early at school.
However, after seeing the size of the Academy and the sheer number of students on the guards' list, Shane was unsure how many new students would start attending the Shirai academy.
The excitement that he had suppressed for some time, suddenly resurfaced after knowing that he would have thousands of competitors for just a few Dimension-spheres
