Chapter 378: Announcement
Chapter 378: Announcement
Mira nodded along with what Alex was saying, the most important take away from this experience being that they should remain fully alert no matter how confident they felt while out in the wilderness.
The next time something like this happened, they might encounter a beast neither of them would ever be able to deal with.
However just a moment after coming out of her thoughts, Mira turned to Alex only to see his face scrunched up in a ball of surprise and shock.
"What's wrong?"
She immediately felt something was off with Alex, but she had no clue what could make him react that way.
Was he in pain?
Were his injuries acting up?
However, the reality turned out to be something neither of them would have ever expected.
Right in front of Alex's eyes, now that he had finally relaxed and calmed down after his miraculous victory over the King of Evermoor, was a message.
He sat there, staring blankly at the words floating in front of him. His mind was spinning as the system's announcement floated there, his pulse racing in disbelief.
[A remarkable feat! You are the first human in history to have slain an enemy two classes above yourself!]
He blinked again, trying to process the sheer magnitude of what he had just accomplished.
The battle with the King of Evermoor had been beyond gruelling, and yet it only just hit him that he had survived — no, won, against a foe two classes above himself…
But the shock wasn't over yet.
[Announcement! Human <Name hidden> has achieved a momentous feat — the first human in history to defeat a King class being solo as a Mutant class!]
"Wait… what?" Alex muttered, unsure whether his disbelief could reach an even higher level.
He could barely even wrap around the fact that this wasn't just a personal achievement.
It was something historical!
He had done something that no human since the dawn of time had ever achieved before…
How absurd was that!
He rubbed his face in confusion. "Why is my name hidden? Not that it matters…"
But before he could dwell on it, the next part of the message appeared.
[You have received a new trait]
[Kingslayer: Being a King does not make one immune to death, you have proved that by killing a King recognised by the system. You do not just have King class potential, your future stands far brighter than that.]
[Trait effect: Damage to King class beings and below is boosted by 50%]
"..."
Alex was quite literally and figuratively, speechless.
Just what the fuck was he seeing right now!?
Had he really been so focused on the fight and calming Mira down that he had missed such earth shattering messages from the system?
His eyes widened. 50% more damage to King class beings and below? That was even more absurd… Overpowered even.
Mira leaned closer, unable to hold back anymore. "Alex? What's happening?"
But before he could answer, Mira's own face twisted with shock when she looked forwards, mimicking the same reaction Alex had just had.
'I'm getting a feeling of deja vu…'
But unbeknownst to him, Mira wasn't the only one who had that reaction…

Admiral Olgierd stood stiffly, his hands clasped behind his back as he listened to one of the other S tiers report on the latest activities from their side of the frontier against the Red Demons.
Principal Farnes sat silently across the table with his brow furrowed, his piercing gaze fixed on the centre of the room.
His mood had been sour ever since he had heard about Alex and Mira's disappearance on Eldaris.
It had been well over a month since that event, yet there was still no sign or word of them, and things only got more tense for him the more time passed.
The atmosphere in the round table room was not good, to say the least.
The Federation was still hard at war against the Red Demons, and with Alex out of the game, things were quickly getting out of hand in many systems where he could have turned the whole situation around.
But suddenly, in the middle of the other S tier's report, everyone stopped dead silent in their tracks, with the S tier who was reporting stopping mid way.
Principal Farnes, Admiral Olgierd and everyone else in the room all had their focus retrained on something far more intriguing.
And not even the most stoic of figures like Admiral Olgierd could hide his shock when he read the announcement that popped up in front of him.
[Announcement! Human <Name hidden> has achieved a momentous feat — the first human in history to defeat a King class being solo as a Mutant class!]
Olgierd's eyes widened, and the room fell into complete silence.
The other S tiers exchanged bewildered glances, their usual composure shaken by the gravity of what they were seeing.
The weakest of the bunch in the room was a Mutant class, like the human mentioned in the message, but never in a million years could they ever defeat a King class being, especially at their rank!
"Did… did everyone else see that?" One of them finally asked, disbelief thick in their voice.
Principal Farnes, however, remained utterly still, his eyes still locked on that notification.
His mind raced, trying to fathom the kind of person it took to achieve such a feat.
And unless it was a native in the Primordial Expanse, there was only one person that came to mind.
'Alex…'
Farnes clenched his jaw, heart pounding beneath his cold exterior.
He was the only King class in the room, and the only one in the human race, the others were all S tiers like him, but far beneath him in power.
And yet, someone had done what had always been presumed impossible.
He was the only one who understood what it takes to kill a King class being, and the fact that he was the most shocked of all should be a wake up call to the others, if they noticed.
Only Admiral Olgierd noticed Farnes' shock, as Farnes slowly turned to him and spoke.
