Chapter 297 King Of Gaia: Are You Interested In Marrying Alisceon?
Allen might scheme again, but it was all for the sake of Alisceon's well-being. He wouldn't do anything that would endanger her life.
That was why he even bothered to see through Reid's true personality since he didn't want to entrust Alisceon to someone who wasn't worthy of Alisceon's love.
After all, if he didn't love Alisceon and just treated her as his tool and not his little sister, he would have just chosen anyone to entrust Alisceon to. And that carelessness might result in Alisceon being entrusted into the wrong hands which were unacceptable for Allen.
Since he loved Alisceon, he would do what was best for her. Even if she didn't agree at first, he would let her realize that what he chose for her was the best.
As the Supreme Order, if Allen's choice wasn't the best even when he deemed that choice as the best, then all of the other choices were the worst!
Allen's love for Alisceon was genuine as he truly treated her as his little sister. Although he planned to hold an arranged marriage for both Alisceon and Reid, he wouldn't continue with that plan if Alisceon didn't like it.
But if Alisceon didn't hate Reid and had a good impression of him, then he would continue with his plan. And last time he checked, Alisceon had a good impression of Reid. After all, before Allen had come into Alisceon's life, only Reid was the one who treated her kindly aside from her late mother.
In fact, if Allen didn't interfere with Alisceon's life and she wasn't fated to die, it was likely that Alisceon was Reid's fated lover. Allen was well aware of that since as the Supreme Order, he was also the Supreme Matchmaker.
Because of his identity as the Supreme Matchmaker, Allen felt that it was his responsibility to matchmake Alisceon and Reid with each other. After all, Alisceon and Reid were fated with each other, so it wouldn't pose a problem if he suggested an arranged marriage for the two of them.
With that plan in mind, Allen waited for the Monthly Royal Gathering. Without a doubt, he has the upper hand in this gathering with the plans he had concocted!
While Allen was thinking of the schemes he could pull off to make either Alisceon or Reid or even both of them the winner of the battle for the throne, Allen noticed that the king stood up from his chair as the king faced the crowd's gazes.
'So the Monthly Royal Gathering will now start?'
Allen thought to himself as he focused his attention on the king of Gaia, listening to what the king would announce.
"As all of you already know, the purpose of this gathering is for my sons and daughters to prove that they are worthy to succeed on the throne! All of you nobles who are here have either supported the princes and princesses or remained neutral. Whatever your choice may be, don't regret it as only one can succeed in the ruling position in the Gaia Kingdom!"
The majestic voice of the king of Gaia reverberated inside the royal ballroom. His charisma as the king overflowed in the room brought awe to the nobles and his children except for a few who wasn't affected by the king's demeanor.
'Only one? So Alisceon and Reid can't rule the kingdom together? Wait, the old man only said that there can only be one ruling position. So only one can rule the kingdom, but it didn't mean that the other couldn't rule the kingdom indirectly. After all, the king mostly ruled the kingdom directly while the queen either did not rule the kingdom or ruled it indirectly.'
With that thought in his mind, Allen decided to proceed with his initial plan of matchmaking Alisceon with Reid.
It was best for Alisceon to marry early so that she could develop her feelings for Reid early on rather than waiting for a thieving fox to steal Reid. After all, if Alisceon kept on rejecting Reid's love, then he might easily be taken by another girl who would show her love for him.
Allen had known some colleagues of his mother who despite being a beautiful MILF, didn't have any luck in finding a husband or lover at the age of thirty. So it was best to let Alisceon marry early and develop her feelings for Reid than risk having someone steal Reid from her.
Of all of the people that Allen met in this world, only Reid was worthy to become Alisceon's husband. Well, he might not have met that many people in this world but he had already seen through the true personalities of the people inside the royal ballroom who attended the Monthly Royal Gathering.
The majority of them were scheming and had bad personalities which was the majority of the nobles and Alisceon's royal siblings. Of course, there was still the minority who were scheming due to their high intelligence but those minorities still possessed good character.
Sadly, those people were either old and taken or were within Alisceon's age range but still pale in comparison to Reid's good personality. Because of that, Reid was still the best husband candidate for Alisceon.
Of course, that was taking into account that his chat group members weren't included. But from what Allen noticed, Deus and John seemed to already have a person they loved.
Since there wasn't anyone better than Reid at becoming Alisceon's fiance, he could only settle for Reid since Reid was the only person who had received his respect.
While Allen was thinking about that, his ears perked up as he heard the king mention him in the king's speech.
"…The highlight of this gathering is the Supreme Mage's attendance in the Monthly Royal Gathering."
"And from the looks of it, the first princesses has successfully brought the Supreme Mage to her side. Am I correct, Supreme Mage?"
Instead of asking his daughter, the king asked the Supreme Mage himself.
After all, it was more credible to hear it from the person of interest since there was a possibility that it was a misunderstanding that the Supreme Mage supported Alisceon. There was a possibility that the Supreme Mage only sat near Alisceon since she was the first person he met while attending the Monthly Royal Gathering.
But of course, the king had already received intel from his subordinates that Old Man William from the Mage's Association had seen Alisceon accompany the Supreme Mage when the Supreme Mage took the magic test.
So the king had already assumed from that information that the Supreme Mage must have a relationship with Alisceon. And the reason why he questioned the Supreme Mage was to ask for clarification on whether the Supreme Mage supported Alisceon or not in the battle for the throne.
"Yes, your majesty the king. I have accepted Alisceon Gaia as my disciple. Therefore, I will assist her in winning the battle for the throne!"
Allen spoke with pride and elegance that was befitting of his status as the Supreme Mage while still maintaining his respect for the king.
Well, even if he didn't respect the king and showed disrespect, the king wasn't narrow-minded enough to take it as an offense since offending the strongest mage wasn't what the king wanted to happen.
The king knew that if that happened, only the surrounding kingdoms would benefit from that scenario. So even if the kingdom managed to defeat and execute the Supreme Mage, they would still suffer from the attack from other kingdoms due to their kingdom's military forces being weakened by the Supreme Mage.
But Allen wasn't arrogant enough to disrespect someone he planned to use as a chess piece especially if it was a valuable chess piece. He knew when to be arrogant and when he should not.
He was a patient and farsighted person.
So what if he had to act respectfully to a weakling right now? He would have the last laugh after he thoroughly used the king for his plans.
And besides, showing respect to the king despite having a status that was slightly above a king would allow Allen to earn brownie points from the king.
Allen's choice of respecting the king was right as he noticed that the king's expression became milder to him. If things went well, he would be able to earn the favor of the king.
And from what Allen had noticed, the king seemed to be intent on recruiting him to his kingdom or at least making him, the Supreme Mage, an ally to the Gaia Kingdom lest he joined another kingdom which wasn't ideal for the king.
After all, if the surrounding kingdoms managed to 'steal' the Supreme Mage from the Gaia Kingdom, any of those kingdoms would become stronger and would have more support from the Mage's Association, which would result in the Gaia Kingdom being in a disadvantageous position if a war ever occurred.
"Sigh, my daughter is fortunate to become your disciple."
"How about it? Are you interested in marrying Alisceon?"
