Chapter 72 Ruining The Plotline
Chapter 72 Ruining The Plotline
Kalaini moved her shoulders and her head a bit, "remembering the first death caused by the drug was supposed to be that boy's friend. The second one was supposed to happen to a child of a maid, but there were no maids in the castle last night.
The third one is Lya's younger sister. That's where the plot should've developed more, but she also doesn't remember seeing Katrina inside the castle, this could only mean that Lya foreseen the plot and took action herself.
"Okay, please tell me," Kali said.
She started laughing and then began to cry. "Ohhh, my God! It's so obvious! I can't believe I didn't see it before now!" Her face paled, "It is because of this!" she cried and pointed at him with her trembling finger.
The man looked perplexed as his eyebrows knitted together. He stared hard into her tear-stained face and said, "What are you talking about?"
"What are you saying?"
Kalaini sobbed and shook her head. She tried to talk again but couldn't get the words out. The man leaned forward, grabbed both of her shoulders, and held her still.
"Please, what were you going to say?"
Kalaini wiped her tears away with the back of her hands and took another deep breath. "You're not listening, are you? This is important! You have to listen to me. I'm so sorry."
Kali nodded slowly. "All right, I will try."
Kalaini took a few moments to compose herself. Then she continued. "This morning when I woke up, I was very tired. It felt like someone had pushed me down a flight of stairs. There was a lot of pain in my body. But I knew I could only sleep if I got the drug.
So I went to the cabinet, found the syringe, and filled it. When I injected myself, I fell asleep almost instantly."
She paused as she waited for the man and Kali to respond. She watched his eyes close to see how much he understood.
One thing was clear to her, no matter what she says or tries, the plot had to be followed. This man was an important piece in this story since he was the one to lead them to the dealer.
The first time before breaking from the system, Kalaini was crying in this scene for the man to sympathise with her, later on, he led her to the dealer.
Now everything was messed up, she had no proper way of explaining everything to Kali, and the only thing was left for her to believe in Kalaini's words.
Not because she didn't trust her, but because the system couldn't be fooled, Kalaini needed the plan to move things forward.
She knew, if she will follow the rest of her previous steps, the man will lead her to the drug dealer.
Meanwhile, it was hard for Kali to understand what the fuck was going on and why was she acting crazy right now, 'that's not Kalaini,' she kept observing her actions.
'Maybe this is a part of her plan!' A thought that went through Kali's mind, was the correct one. She looked at Kalaini who was fake sobbing and smirking at the same time, 'wow, I could use her skills in my world too.' Kali wanted to giggle.
Kalaini glanced at the man again.
His face was expressionless. He just sat there, looking at her.
Kalaini sighed and said, "Then I dreamed. And what I dreamed made me remember everything that happened to me yesterday morning."
Listening to Kalaini's lies, Kali wanted to burst out laughing. Her acting skills were incredible but she was also taken aback by the man's body language. This man looked like he was hypnotised by something, 'please, hurry up, Kalaini!'
Kali had to know more details about this plot. When they were coming here, she knew that they had to fight a monster but why no one else was telling her about the drugs and children dying in this place?
The smugglers are very dangerous, so it was best if they moved away from here in order to save lives faster.
"Let's go." Said Kalaini when she looked at Kali.
The man was already moving and Kali didn't notice when he got up and began to walk.
The two of them run off north into the woods, following him. Then they found an old road and follow it west until there is a village with houses on both sides.
There were no signs of life around; it appeared abandoned. A few houses have collapsed roofs or fallen down completely. It looked like most people left this place long ago.
They decided to explore one of these abandoned homes, hoping that something might still be useful inside. The man just stood outside, waiting for something.
"Kalaini, are you this is a good idea?" Whispered Kali.
"Yes, inside the house we should find a small needle, and while we search for it, the drug smuggler will show himself before we come out," Kalaini replied slowly.
They went into one of the houses that were just plain black, it looked faded and had some spider webs on the door, "are you sure this is the right one?" Kali doubted.
"Yes, it must be this one." Kalaini's tone sounded confident.
The inside of the building has been stripped bare; all the furniture was gone. All they could see were empty spaces where items once stood. Nothing remained but dust on every surface.
"Eeww!" Kali shouted as she removed a little spider from her right shoulder.
"Be careful with those, they can bite and poison you."
Kalaini looked around and as she saw this house empty, she decided to leave, "sorry, I'm wrong, this ain't the one." She knew something was wrong as the last time everything was ready and this house was just empty.
There was nothing else to do there, so they left the house and continued exploring the other ones.
"Kalaini, wh-who is he?" Kali's voice trembled.
