Protagonist's Evil System: My Girlfriend Turned Into A Dragon

Chapter 82 Returned

Chapter 82 Returned

Sigmund looked at Lucas with a sharp gaze in his eyes. The sparkles inside them were shining for a weird reason, the creepy smile of his reminded Lucas of Izek for a moment.

"Why are you smiling?" Asked Lucas slowly.

"Because you will like what will happen next," Sigmund snapped his fingers and a boy whom Lucas tried to protect so badly was before him.

There was a surprised silence for a second and Lucas gulped. His eyes narrowed following his shut mouth.

The scorching and heated glare was at the man who brought him here by a simple finger snap, "why was he crying?" Lucas asked when he saw the boy's red eyes and swollen cheeks.

"Oh, you mean why did I torture him to tell you where to find you?" Replied Sigmund.

"Torture him, what do you mean by that?"

"Well, I used some magic to make him forget everything he knows about you. I also made sure that he cannot remember anything that happened during the last week, including the events that led to his death."

The world around Lucas turned red for a split second, he couldn't understand what Sigmund was talking about, but he knew that something terrible was happening.

"You…you did what to him?" Anger started flowing through Lucas's veins.

"Calm down, kid. If you keep screaming like a madman, I'm gonna have to kill you."

Lucas's stomach was turning into knots. He could feel his heart pumping faster than usual. What Sigmund had done was unforgivable, what if he killed him? Lucas' body shook with anger.

He wanted to slash Sigmund's head off, but he kept his composure.  He remembered how much trouble they went through to get this sword, and he didn't want to lose it because of some asshole.

"Look, kid, I know it's hard to understand right now, but what I did to him was necessary," said Sigmund.

"And why is that?" asked Lucas.

Sigmund sighed, "look, I'm not here to fight with you.

Lucas's eyes filled with rage. The person before him held Notru as some kind of trash in his hands, "too bad, I am!" Lucas moved forward and stabbed Sigmund in the chest.

His blade sunk into Sigmund's flesh and pierced his heart.

Sigmund was too stunned to react. He stood still, frozen in mid-air for several seconds until his body dropped to the ground.

Lucas was surprised to see Sigmund drop like a rock. His sword was stuck in Sigmund's chest, he could feel his warm blood leaking out of the wound and soaking his clothes.

"What the hell?" Lucas looked down at his hand and saw blood all over the blade.

"It looks like that sword doesn't work against me," Sigmund said calmly, "but never mind that. Now then, do you want to see what happens next?"

"Get out of my way!" shouted Lucas.

"No can do," said Sigmund, "I've been waiting a long time for this opportunity.

Not understanding what was happening, Notru kept shaking his legs, "brother, please stop!" He shouted and closed his eyes. The voice pierced through Lucas's ears and if some kind of system forced him to stop moving, not a single flinch was displayed on his face.

"You should know that you are being watched," said Sigmund vanishing into thin air.

At that moment, the boy started coughing violently. Blood poured from his mouth and nose.

His whole body was covered with sweat and every breath made him gasp. He fell to the ground with a loud thud and stopped breathing.

Lucas cried out and ran towards the boy. He knelt next to Notru and put his hand on his forehead.

"I'm sorry. I failed you," whispered Lucas. Tears were almost falling from his eyes.

Notru's chest began to rise and fall again.

He opened his eyes and looked up at Lucas.

For a moment, they stared at each other and Lucas felt the warmth running down his cheeks. It was the first time in his life that he felt really happy.

"You're okay…" said Lucas.

Notru smiled and raised his arms. A bright glow surrounded his body and Lucas felt a tingling sensation in his back.

Notru's voice echoed inside Lucas' head, "brother, I am…glad to see you again."

"Me too," Lucas replied.

"But…you look different. Your skin is pale, your hair is longer and you have a scar on your cheek. Is that what you call a smile?"

Lucas laughed and wiped away the tears from his eyes. He leaned forward and hugged Notru. They stayed like that for a while until Lucas finally let go of him.

"Notru, I have to ask you some questions. You had no trouble telling me who you are, so I need you to answer me truthfully or else I'll have to hurt you," Lucas said.

The boy nodded.

"Who are you?"

"Notru, son of Balin," replied Notru.

"How old are you?"

"Ten years, six months, four days."

"Where are you from?"

"A place called Flotsam," said Notru.

"Did you meet anyone?"

"Yes, I met a boy named Izek," said Notru.

"Tell me more about him." Lucas was talking slowly.

"He is very strong and brave, he saved me when I was being attacked by a giant spider," said Notru.

"Were you ever scared?" asked Lucas.

"Of course I was," said Notru, "when I was lost in the jungle and couldn't find my way home, I was terrified. And when I saw a giant spider, I just froze. But I knew that if I would run away, I would die, so I fought it."

"Do you remember anything else?" asked Lucas.

"I once heard a sound like thunder coming from far away. When I got closer, I saw a huge creature flying high in the sky," said Notru.

"Describe it," Lucas said.

"It was shaped like a black dragon, almost as tall as a mountain, its wings were folded and it was covered in spikes. Its eyes were yellow and it had sharp claws."

"Does it mean anything to you?"  Lucas asked.

"No, I don't think so," Notru answered.

"That's good," said Lucas, "because we're going to destroy that thing today."
