Chapter 147: Ape King

Chapter 147: Ape King

Chapter 147: Ape King

A myriad of different monsters all screeched and roared at each-other, before sprinting forward, and tearing their claws, or weapons into their flesh.

The Great No-Eyed One also entered the battle against the kings. His enlarged mystical saw-blades tore through the air, the sound they made screeched across the battlefield as they tore through the land.

The mountain stomped on the ground and summoned a large wall to block the attack. It was only seconds later that the rotating blades impacted against the solid rock-wall. Sparks flew and the edge of the blade sunk into the rock before quickly grinding to a halt.

With another stomp of the mountain golem’s feet, a path of high spikes surged toward the Great No-Eyed One like a primal wave. Despite the slightly smaller stature of the golem–it’s power had only lowered a little.

Of course, the golem wasn’t the only one to retaliate. The other kings had their eyes on Astrid–waiting for her to make a move. As if they were wary of her attacking again.

However, the ape king wasn’t known for having a calm mind. It cocked its head back and emitted a beastly roar that was worthy of a great general.

The army of apes began their attack. They used the trees to their advantage, just like the leaping femora. The monsters swung from the trees and used the momentum to further their attack. Their thickly armoured fore-arms slammed into their enemies. Everyone was a target. No-one was safe.

Finishing its roar, the ape king sprinted toward astrid on all fours. Each time the beast struck the ground with its fists, it rumbled.

Astrid urged the excitement down from having finally crashed her dark matter sphere–although it was just down to luck–and focused on the incoming ape.

First, she [Crashed] the matter of the spike wave that was directed toward the Great No-Eyed One. The spikes exploded into fragments that splintered off and flew in every direction, then she created a clone of herself.

It was time to test how useful it was to have two Astrids.

The other Astrid, thanks to the boost from her Monarch Altering Fungus Eye–it was even stronger than herself–although its body was weak. Unless she channelled mana into it, that was.

Astrid decided against holding back her mana usage. She had to make use of her current range advantage and that meant machine-gun [Crashes].

She connected to the matter both in herself, and her clone and amassed the matter in front of the rampaging ape. With a double smirk, the air exploded in rapid succession. Explosion after explosion rocked the land–and the ape along with it.

The ape was pushed back, but it dug one hand deep into the earth, while the other acted as a shield to retain its balance.

However, the act of defiance only increased Astrid’s efforts. Her mind flared and activated the Ice Blood within her body. She felt the presence of the floating eye behind her shoulder activate, then the [Crashes] changed.

From an explosion that was created from seemingly nothing, a rogue ice formed like clusters against the apes skin.

Astrid focused her attack on the beast's legs, the cold wrapped around them from each explosion. Each only thickening the solid water. But her clone stopped her attack. She had another plan in mind for her empowered twin.

A spiralling amalgamation of purple formed in her palm. Instead of a sphere, it took on the image of a drill. While her clone was forming one of her strongest attacks, Astrid doubled her effort with [Crash]. Each blast only became stronger and stronger, using more mana than she had ever used before.

Transcendent Mage Class. Astrid giggled as she felt the ocean of mana hidden behind her eye.

The others seemed to realise the status quo was shifting into dangerous territory. They gazed at the rotating purple mass. It was just like from the explosion. The strange energy ignited their senses.

The haloed man was about to make his move when a saw blade blasted toward him. He instantly clicked his fingers as the blade was blown into smithereens.

With a snort, the haloed man hopped on a strange, almost translucent cloud, and moved forward. The other beast kings joined him.

They were the strongest beings in this land, they wouldn’t let anyone else take a treasure that was forming in their territory. Their pride wouldn’t allow it–even if it meant death.

Moving in turn with the others the Great No-Eyed One made sure that Astrid was able to deal with the ape king. He desperately threw his enlarged saw blades at anything that moved closer to her.

Astrid watched as the enormous bird was the first to approach, but the Great No-Eyed One rekindled his efforts. His hands touched the ground and a pair of saw blades spawned half way into the ground. They spun and immediately reached a staggering speed as they appeared to no longer rotate. However, the sound they made screeched at Astrid’s eardrums. With a stomp of his feet, they activated–and shot forward at a speed that was difficult to track.

Two blades moved at the same time, and it was only a second before they reached their intended target–the bird king.

The bird king shifted its weight at the sudden attack. It widened its maw, then screeched. A shrill piercing sound attacked the incoming blades like oscillating, round waves. It managed to lessen the speed somewhat, but they were too strong to be stopped by sound waves.

Realising the situation it was in, it flapped its wings, but it was too late. Its feet were still barely touching the ground when the rotating saw blades met its flesh. Blood splattered and the sound of metal chopping into hardened flesh, and bone, filled the battlefield.

A screech of pain filled her eardrums, but she grinned in satisfaction. They had failed to stop her attack. The dark matter drill had formed.

Astrid’s clone snapped her palm forward and the drill flew forward. The air screamed in protest as a dark purple hue trailed behind it. It was as if the pure mana within the air was being corrupted by the mighty pressure of the attack.

The ape king raised its brows through the icy field of explosions that rattled its body. It screamed a primal roar.

Astrid immediately knew it was going to try and escape, so she demanded her mana to surge. She connected to the matter surrounding the beast faster than ever before. Massive explosions around the ape king caused it to be stuck in a vacuum, unable to jump even if it wanted to.

Then, the dark matter drill impacted against the monster's shielded arm. The impact of the drill created a sight to behold. Orange, red, purple, and black sparks splattered around the beast.

A low growling howl left the ape king's mouth. It attempted to swat the attack to the side, but it grit its savage teeth. It was as if the attack was too heavy to move. The monster seemed to realise the danger it was in as it immediately lowered its arm–and body along with it. As if it was trying to burrow into the roused dirt.

Of course, Astrid’s attack wasn’t going to stop. The ape king wasn’t able to get down to the floor quick enough and the dark matter attack bore into its upper chest, shoulder area.

The drill caused chaos. It wasn’t a smooth wound, no, it was as if it pulled the flesh in every direction along with its forward momentum. It was like the apes body was stuck in a moving machine–causing the wound to only grow in size as it drilled through to the other side. Only to reveal a still beating heart from the gaping hole in its chest.

Never had the ape king suffered such an enormous wound. With the attack over, it was no longer willing to move head on. It took a mighty step–only to fall to the ground.

The beast gazed at its wound, Astrid followed. It was minute, but small sparkling stars, and the dark matter energy was making the wound impossible to heal.

Astrid widened her eyes. Anti-healing. Although it only lasted for a second as the beast grunted–and the healing took effect–however it was too late. She wouldn’t let it recover. Amassing the matter within its chest, she [Crashed] it.

Her explosion from the inside was devastating. The ape king's chest swelled, as did its eyeballs, then cracks followed.

The beast's heart was obliterated in a mushy paste as blood cascaded to the floor like a waterfall. Astrid wasted no time as she yanked the mighty king's eyes from its sockets and immediately stored them within her storage.

The king's eyes belonged to her.
