By this time, the thugs had caught up to them.
“You sure can run. Did your big sis do track and field at the nobles’ school?”
Bai Weiwei promptly pulled her brother behind her, blocking the thugs’ path.
“It’s impossible for my brother to owe you so much money. You must be cheating him.”
The thug brandished his knife. “Your brother is a complete gambling addict. Who doesn’t know that he owes a lot of money? He said you have money; hurry up and take it out.”
Bai Weiwei clenched her fingers, her voice quivering. “I don’t have that much money. How could you not know our family’s situation?”
The thug sneered. “Your brother said you were taken in by a Blood Kin. Go and bed them a few nights, you’ll be able to earn 100,000 gold.”
They didn’t know that Bai Weiwei was taken in by the prince.
They only thought it was some ordinary Blood Kin.
But as long as it was a Blood Kin, paying back the money would be much easier.
Bai Weiwei’s face went pale. She turned her head to look at her younger brother.
“Little Bai, did you really say that to them?”
The brother finally had the chance to speak and immediately threw off Bai Weiwei’s hand.
He said coldly, “Sis, why are you running away? I owe so much money. If you really were taken in by a Blood Kin, shouldn’t you hurry up and climb into their bed and get me the money?”
Bai Weiwei stared blankly. Her bloodless face, under the moonlight, had a sort of heartbreaking sorrow.
Her lips trembled. “Little Bai, do you think of me that way? I tried so hard to be the top in the grade. Wasn’t it so that after graduation, I could get a good job that could let us live a better life…”
The younger brother shouted scornfully, “How good can that be? What can you give me? Is it a luxury car, or a villa? Don’t make me laugh. You should be grateful you even have the opportunity to make it on the Blood Kin’s list.”
Bai Weiwei looked incredulous. “But bloodsuckers1 harm us humans…”
The younger brother shoved her ruthlessly.
“Don’t say things that could get me killed. I can’t believe you’re so stupid. I owe so much money. You definitely know a lot of Blood Kin in school; wouldn’t you be able to hook one with this beauty of yours?”
Bai Weiwei: What a rare thing for this scum brother to be so clean and refined.
She took several steps back, staring at her younger brother with bewilderment.
“How can you say that? I’m trying to protect you.”
The brother leered, “If you want to protect me, then hurry up and get me 100,000 gold. They’ll beat me to death if I don’t pay it back.”
Bai Weiwei finally couldn’t bear it. Heaving with anger, she argued, “How could I have 100,000 gold? Even if I sold my body, I wouldn’t have that much.”
These words reminded the scumbag brother.
His eyes immediately lit up, and he violently yanked on her hand, pulling her to the ground.
Bai Weiwei didn’t notice that as her body fell heavily to the ground, the back of her hand was scraped open, causing blood to seep out.
The younger brother promptly pointed to his older sister in excitement.
“My sister has the best scores in the aristocratic school. This identity should be worth enough money, right?”
The thugs hadn’t yet responded when-
The younger brother continued,” That’s right, she’s very beautiful. I don’t know how many love letters she’s gotten since she was a kid.”
The thugs finally came to a realization.
They all looked down at Bai Weiwei.
She lay helplessly on the ground, her head of brown curly hair in disarray and her light brown eyes as cute and charming as cat eyes.
Dressed in an elegant long dress, even despite looking a bit wretched, she was delicate and beautiful enough to make one’s eyes burn.
The scumbag brother still hoped to pay back the money.
“She can’t sell for 100,000 gold, but she’s definitely enough for the interest. When I win big, I’ll pay back the rest of the money.”
Bai Weiwei stared blankly at her brother.
1: I don’t remember if I mentioned this before, but the Chinese word for vampire (???) can also mean ‘leech’ or ‘bloodsucking vermin.’ This might give a little more insight as to why Arthur previously said this term is taboo as though it’s an insult and why the younger brother is so spooked by what she’s saying. I’ve been using ‘vampire’ and ‘bloodsucker’ depending on which one fits the context better up until now.
