Rebirth: Ghost Exorciser

Chapter 1527 - 1527 The Film Crew Next Door

Chapter 1527 - 1527 The Film Crew Next Door

1527 The Film Crew Next Door

Director Wang was quite influential in the industry, while the film crew next door was just a middling film crew. To put it nicely, this was indeed a film crew, but to put it bluntly, all the actors and director were newcomers who had flocked together pell-mell in an unconventional way; who knew how they had pulled in investments.

So, when Director Wang, Ruan Shenglin, Song Yanru and the others took the initiative to drop by, everyone in the film crew next door, including the director, was flattered and in disbelief.

Chi Shuyan didn’t want to draw attention to herself, so she told Director Wang not to explain why they were there, and to say that they were just dropping by. While Director Wang was talking to the new director, Chi Shuyan took the opportunity to walk around the set. Ruan Shenglin, Song Yanru and the others naturally wanted to be by the Master’s side the whole time.

However, Ruan Shenglin and Song Yanru were too popular. As soon as they arrived, they were surrounded by many members of the film crew and some newbie actors for their autographs. Even Song Chu and Cao Zhengsong were surrounded, and they were helpless.

In the end, it was Yang Kun and Yan Zhengming who accompanied the Master. As they walked around, their attention was all on the Master’s face. Occasionally, they would see her frown, and their hearts would jump with fear, afraid that Master Chi had seen something.

Chi Shuyan looked around and really didn’t see any issues. She shook her head at the two of them. Yang Kun and Yan Zhengming were overjoyed, but they still looked a little uncertain. They couldn’t help but ask carefully and repeatedly, “Master, are you saying that there’s no problem?”

Chi Shuyan retracted her gaze and nodded. “It’s indeed fine. Don’t worry!”

When she said that, Yang Kun and Yan Zhengming were finally completely relieved, and there was obvious joy on their faces. Speaking of which, the two of them were really afraid that something would happen to Director Wang’s movie again. Not to mention that they wouldn’t be able to finish filming, they were also afraid that their lives would be in danger. With Master Chi’s words, the two of them were completely relieved, and were prepared to talk to Director Wang and their artists later.

“Let’s go!” Chi Shuyan walked around and indeed didn’t find anything. She felt that this time was a case of once bitten, twice shy, and they were being overly serious and terrified. Still, she hoped that her comforting words would help them.

Yan Zhengming and Yang Kun looked at each other, and Yan Zhengming immediately said, “Okay, Master, Kun’er will continue walking around with you. I’ll go and tell Director Wang and the others about this first.”

Chi Shuyan nodded and looked around curiously. Although she had seen Director Wang filming on set before, this was her first time in a film crew for a horror movie. She was really curious about how a horror movie was filmed.

Seeing that the Master’s attention seemed to be drawn to the film crew around him, Yang Kun immediately patted Yan Zhengming’s shoulder and said, “Okay, Brother Yan, go over. I’ll keep the Master company!”

With Yang Kun’s words and the Master’s agreement, Yan Zhengming turned around and walked toward Director Wang. There was no need to worry that the Master would be bored. Seeing that she was staring curiously at the strangely dressed man and woman reciting their lines in front of the camera, Yang Kun explained, “Master, this film crew is actually filming a romantic ghost story.” Like in the American movie ‘Ghost,’ the movie wasn’t too scary, and was focused on the relationship between the male and female leads; the ghost plot was secondary.

Yang Kun had never thought much of horror movies. For one thing, given Shenglin’s status, it was impossible for him to lower himself to act in a horror movie. For another, Yang Kun felt that these film crews were a mess. In the domestic movie industry, horror films weren’t considered good, and he didn’t think much of them at all.

After seeing a ghost for real, however, Yang Kun felt an inexplicable chill in his heart at visiting this film crew, and he couldn’t wait to leave immediately. Moreover, these people had to wear all sorts of strange makeup and do all sorts of things in this remote area at night – what if they provoked something they shouldn’t?

Yang Kun shuddered at the thought, and his heart almost jumped out of his chest. It was simply too scary. It was a good thing he wasn’t in this film crew.

Chi Shuyan didn’t notice Yang Kun’s increasingly terrified expression at that moment. Her attention was all on the female lead, who was filming in front of the camera.

In her absent-mindedness, an image appeared in her mind. The woman was wearing white burial clothes and was spinning around on the roof of a hotel in the middle of the night. Then, she suddenly fell and hit the ground. Her body shattered into pieces, and a large amount of blood splattered all the way to the side. What was even more eye-catching was her face, which had been completely peeled off. It was so hideous and twisted that her features could no longer be seen. It was especially bloody and cruel.

Chi Shuyan’s pupils contracted sharply. Coincidentally, someone patted her shoulder. She tilted her head and met Yang Kun’s worried gaze. “Master, what’s wrong?” Seeing Master Chi’s very unsightly face, Yang Kun’s face turned pale and he subconsciously asked, “Master, did you… sense something again?”

The more Yang Kun asked, the weaker his tone became. His face was filled with fear and his legs trembled.

Chi Shuyan took in Yang Kun’s terrified expression and shook her head. “It’s fine, this has to do with something else!”

As she spoke, she glanced at the film set around her again and confirmed that there was indeed nothing wrong with it; the problem was most likely that the young lady who was filming at the moment had personally provoked something she shouldn’t. The space between her eyebrows was frighteningly black, and her face was faintly green; this young lady would most likely die in a few days.

What left the deepest impression on Chi Shuyan was the face that had been peeled off when the other party was still alive, before the other party died tragically. Chi Shuyan had always had guts, but when she saw the other party’s tragic death just now, her scalp still turned numb.

Who knew how this girl had provoked such a terrifying thing.

Coincidentally, not far away, the couple with the strange makeup finished filming and then parted ways without exchanging words.

The man went to the director to curry favor with him, and looked at Director Wang ingratiatingly. As for the woman, she returned to her seat.

At that moment, an assistant came up with an umbrella and said, “Sister Ling, right, your phone rang just now.”

The woman who was called Sister Ling sat in her seat and had her makeup removed, revealing a very beautiful and natural face. She was no more than 20 years old. Chi Shuyan heard the other party nod and say, “Got it.” Then, she kept her head down on the side and ate lunch with her assistant.

Yang Kun didn’t understand what was wrong with Master Chi at all. Why was she staring at an unfamiliar woman? Was there something wrong with this woman?

Yang Kun was about to ask, when he heard the Master say, “Can you help me ask about that young lady?”

Yang Kun’s eyes widened in confusion, unable to understand what the Master was thinking. However, Yang Kun wasn’t someone who pried into things. He was very capable and extremely efficient, and managed to gather almost all the information on the other party in less than ten minutes.

Yang Kun said, “Master, that young lady is the female lead of this movie. Her name is Yan Liling. She’s just 20 years old and hasn’t gone to university, but she has a boyfriend who’s especially rich and good-looking; it was her boyfriend who invested in this movie.”

Chi Shuyan nodded, and Yang Kun continued, “It seems this young lady’s family is very poor. She’s from a rural village, and has a few younger brothers and a younger sister. Her luck changed for the better when she met her boyfriend.”

This kind of thing was actually quite normal in the circle. Some beautiful women were ‘kept’ from the beginning and could play the female lead right away in their film debut. Yang Kun was used to such people and such things.

When Yang Kun first found out about this, he subconsciously felt a little prejudiced against this young lady. In his opinion, although this beautiful young lady said that she had a boyfriend, she was most likely a kept woman. However, when he asked around, he was quite surprised by her character and her reputation in the film crew.

It was mainly because this young lady was quite independent. She was a loner in the film crew, but was very polite. She was good to everyone in the crew and helped out whenever she could. She also didn’t get too close or acted ambiguously with the various male actors in the film crew. She also recited her lines very smoothly; except for when she was eating, she spent the time memorizing her lines. She was a very hardworking young lady.

Although Yang Kun found out that the other party had a pretty good character, he didn’t take it to heart. There were many people who pretended to be polite and have a good character when they first entered the entertainment circle. He wondered how long this young lady could last!

Yang Kun recounted what he had found out, and Chi Shuyan nodded. “Okay, I understand!”
