Chapter 108 - Are You the Woman I Knelt For?

Chapter 108 - Are You the Woman I Knelt For?

Chapter 108: Are You the Woman I Knelt For?

The old man was stunned for a moment and a little astonished that this unfamiliar girl in front of him would say such a thing. Wasn’t that what those swindlers on the streets said? The old man immediately looked at the unfamiliar girl with slight regret. Why was such a good girl a swindler and a charlatan?

He advised earnestly, “Young lady, how can you get into this business at such a young age? As human beings, we must be practical and rational, and take things one step at a time.” After saying that, he shook his head and left.

Chi Shuyan stared blankly at the old man’s departing back and frowned with a trace of worry in her eyes. Did this old man take her for a swindler?

She sighed, unsure whether this old man would take her words to heart, but that was all she could say. After all, everyone had to resolve their own calamities.

When she came back to her senses, she immediately felt the sharp scrutiny above her head. From the moment she gave the old man advice, the man next to her had been staring at her with such a sharp gaze that her back prickled and she felt tremendous pressure.

While she was racking her brain for a response, Qi Zhenbai was the first to break the momentary silence. “Let’s go, back to the car!”

As soon as Chi Shuyan heard Qi Zhenbai’s words, she heaved a sigh of relief as if a huge burden had been lifted off her shoulders. It had been so long; it made sense that he had forgotten.

However, when the two returned to the car and she heard Qi Zhenbai’s first sentence, Chi Shuyan felt as if a basin of cold water had been poured over her head, chilling her down to the soles of her feet as cold sweat trickled down her forehead.

“Only able to make a prediction once a month? This seems different from what I heard before?” Qi Zhenbai’s voice was clear and cold, with no hint of emotion in it, but Chi Shuyan could sense a hint of danger.

Chi Shuyan was filled with regret. Why didn’t she leave any leeway for herself? Slapping her own face like this really hurt!

Chi Shuyan braced herself to meet Qi Zhenbai’s sharp gaze. “In fact, it was my incompetence back then. I thought I could only make a prediction once a month.”

“Really? Then how do I know that you’re telling the truth now?” Qi Zhenbai narrowed his electric phoenix eyes as he looked at Chi Shuyan. “How about calculating it again?” As he spoke, he grabbed Chi Shuyan’s arm.

Calculating it again? She thought of the explicit images which she had seen before.

Chi Shuyan almost jumped up and subconsciously drew her arm back hurriedly. Noticing Qi Zhenbai’s increasingly suspicious and sharp eyes, she knew that her story was full of holes. Looking into his eyes, she felt inexplicably flustered again. She could only force herself to maintain a calm smile as she said, “Better not. My skills are still lacking, so I don’t want to mislead you.”

“Mislead me? I think your calculations are quite accurate.” There was a smile in Qi Zhenbai’s deep eyes as he looked at the distressed Chi Shuyan. The smile on his thin red lips grew deeper and deeper as he drew close to Chi Shuyan’s ear. His voice was low and mischievous. “Why don’t you dare calculate it? Other than those who are related to me by blood, can it be that you can’t calculate everything from beginning to end for me alone?” His last line was a declaration and challenge.

Chi Shuyan was stunned and looked at Qi Zhenbai in shock, her feelings particularly complex. This man’s observational skills were too sharp. She very much suspected that the man in front of her had long known about the matter of “fated partners.” She hadn’t deceived him at all last time!

Seeing his certainty that she couldn’t calculate it, those colorful, explicit images instantly flashed through Chi Shuyan’s mind. She felt a bit guilty and her eyes flashed, but she quickly regained her composure.

It was true that her previous calculations hadn’t yielded any results. But now, no matter how smart Qi Zhenbai was, he probably couldn’t imagine that given Chi Shuyan’s supernatural abilities, what she could calculate wasn’t any ordinary fortune.

These thoughts flashed through Chi Shuyan’s mind, but she quickly calmed down and denied it to death. “Stop thinking nonsense. When I calculate it, you don’t believe me, but when I won’t calculate it, you’re doubtful. You’re so hard to please. I can’t be bothered to calculate it for you.”

Qi Zhenbai looked deeply at the woman in front of him, and was sharp enough to see Chi Shuyan’s evasive mood. Had he missed something? Wait, could it be that this woman not only knew about their future relationship, but had seen what would happen in the future?

When Qi Zhenbai thought this, he couldn’t help but recall when the woman in front of him had mocked him back then for kneeling between a woman’s legs in the future. Even now, Qi Zhenbai still didn’t feel that he could ever kneel between a woman’s legs, but the words which came out of this woman’s mouth still made him think deeply.

Chi Shuyan, however, felt less and less confident under the man’s sharp gaze, fearing that he would pick up something again.

The man changed the subject, his tone cold and hard as he probed, “Back then, you said I would strip naked and kneel between a woman’s legs to do unspeakable things. Is that woman you?”

Chi Shuyan completely underestimated how smart and astute the man was. When he sounded her out, she was so frightened that she blurted out, “You can make predictions too?”

On the other side, Wu Jinshan rushed home, concerned about his grandson and afraid that when he woke up, he wouldn’t be able to find him. When he opened the door, the house was silent. Was he still sleeping? He heaved a sigh of relief, but suddenly smelled a faint, strange odor, and frowned. Was something broken?

But the smell quickly faded, and Wu Jinshan didn’t think much of it, assuming that it was some food that had been in the trash for too long. Glancing at the closed glass kitchen door, he first tiptoed into his grandson’s room. Looking at that small pouting face that was sound asleep, he smiled faintly and covered his grandson with the blanket that he had kicked off.

He turned around and walked out, and perhaps feeling that there was no taste in his mouth, he casually reached out for the tobacco pipe on the living room table and put it in his mouth. He felt for the lighter with one hand and was about to light it, when he suddenly remembered the words of the strange girl he had run into today.

Wu Jinshan paused. To be honest, he didn’t really believe a word she said, but listening to a little girl earnestly say these kinds of fortune-telling words like a veteran Daoist priest was particularly refreshing. He smiled, put down the pipe and lighter in his hand, and thought to himself,?Forget it, I won’t smoke. He then walked to the kitchen.

As soon as he opened the glass door that separated the kitchen from the living room, strong fumes immediately hit him in the face. Wu Jinshan panicked and turned pale, and his legs almost gave way. Was it a gas leak? Horrified, he leapt forward to turn off the gas, then opened the kitchen window for ventilation.

After Wu Jinshan did all that, he didn’t cook. He closed the glass door and sat in the living room, panting heavily. He stared blankly at the kitchen. There was a pot of stewed bone soup on the stove. He had probably been in too much of a hurry in the morning, and forgot to turn off the gas.

His gaze shifted to the lighter and pipe on the table. If he hadn’t cared and had smoked his pipe as he went in, and the spark came into contact with such strong gas fumes… the consequences would have been unimaginable.

Wu Jinshan was scared out of his wits at the thought. His forehead dripped with cold sweat and his heart pounded with fear. Even his back was wet. He almost caused a tragedy because of his carelessness. It was fine if his old bones died, but his grandson was still so young. Moreover, his neighbors were so close by. If an explosion happened, his neighbors would definitely be implicated.

He dazedly recalled the words of the girl whom he had met on the road, and was extremely glad that her words had stuck in his mind. Deep in his heart, he was grateful and excited. Otherwise, he really didn’t dare imagine that scene.

He was deeply moved and regretted that he had no way of thanking her. He rejoiced that he had run into a genuine expert. He no longer dared to underestimate that strange girl and take her words as a joke.
