Chapter 53: I Feel Like You’ve Changed
Seeing Jian Ai’s relaxed expression, Lin Yi felt an unknown joy surge in his heart. His lips curled up. “Maybe we can even get into the same class.”
When Jian Ai heard this, she immediately looked away from the pork ribs and at Lin Yi. She didn’t know what kind of expression to give him. “If you smile at me like that, you’ll cause me trouble.”
Jian Ai was joking, but Lin Yi quickly straightened his face and whispered, “I’m sorry.”
Jian Ai couldn’t help but laugh softly when she saw this. Looking at Lin Yi’s innocent and energetic face, Jian Ai suddenly felt that she was not blind to have a crush on him in her previous life. He was indeed a good person.
“I’m kidding,” Jian Ai said with a smile.
However, the more Jian Ai acted like this, the guiltier Lin Yi felt. He still vividly remembered her running away with tears in her eyes when he rejected her with her love letter then.
Lin Yi opened his mouth to say something, but Jian Ai pulled his arm and squeezed forward. “It’s our turn. I want braised pork ribs!”
After buying the food, Jian Ai carried the plate and found a seat by the window. Not long after, Guan Tao came.
“Didn’t you say that you wanted to eat pork ribs? I wasn’t here on Friday. I’ll make it up to you today!” Jian Ai said as she gave Guan Tao the pork ribs on her plate.
“Enough, enough!” Seeing that the pork ribs were for her, Guan Tao quickly stopped her. Then, she looked at Jian Ai and whispered, “Did Lin Yi buy them?”
Jian Ai ate a piece of shredded garlic and nodded. “One month. This is only the second meal!”
Guan Tao ate a piece of pork ribs and swallowed it before saying, “You know about the division of classes, right?”
Jian Ai nodded. “Don’t screw up. You were always in the top ten in the cohort!”
“I’ll return you these exact words. You missed a week’s worth of class!” Guan Tao said worriedly.
Seeing Guan Tao’s confidence, Jian Ai was relieved. “As long as you can perform normally, you don’t have to worry about me!”
The two of them were confident in getting into Class One, and Guan Tao shared the same concerns as the other students. She looked at Jian Ai and said, “Based on your previous results, you’ll be in the same class as Lin Yi.”
Jian Ai nodded without commenting. Lin Yi was a top student in Class One, and he always came in first in the cohort for the monthly examinations.
However, Jian Ai was no longer that simple fourteen-year-old girl in her heart. Although Lin Yi was her first love in her previous life, her soul was no longer that of a fourteen-year-old.
“It’s not just Lin Yi. There’s also Yan Tian, Xia Qinghuan, and Gao Yang. These famous people in Year One will basically all be in Class One.”
Jian Ai’s tone was casual. In her heart, Lin Yi was no different from the names she had just mentioned.
Guan Tao was initially worried that Jian Ai would feel uncomfortable because of Lin Yi. Now that their relationship had eased, she secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
“Xiao Ai, I feel like you’ve changed,” Guan Tao suddenly said.
Jian Ai stopped eating and smiled. “People have to learn to change. Otherwise, it will be boring.”
Guan Tao nodded, not fully understanding. “Anyway, I think you’ve become more cheerful after you got sick. Your entire aura is different from before.”
Jian Ai took the initiative to skip this topic and looked at Guan Tao before changing the topic. “The South City District is going to be demolished soon. Do you know about this?”
“Demolished?” Guan Tao was shocked. She bit her chopsticks and shook her head. “I don’t know! I never heard of it!”
