Fang JunRong waited till Li XinYun had walked away before she turned to Jiang DeXian and asked, “Do you know Li Xuan?”
She just did a quick search on Li Xuan earlier and learned that him and Jiang DeXian both belonged to the same company in the past. What had happened to the two of them, however, was drastically different. Li Xuan was the team captain of the group since the day he debuted and was much famed. Although he was being phased out slowly toward the end but, he was able to switch to becoming an actor and was in a couple of well-liked idol shows with his experiences and became a second-tier actor of sort.
Looking back at Jiang DeXian, he was beat down and sidelined from the very beginning and the only roles that he had been able to land in the last few years were extras. His looks, which god-given rights to earn a living using it, was completed wasted.
Jiang DeXian stroked his face, “Was it that obvious?”
Fang JunRong nodded. “I felt that you were upset at the time.” Fang JunRong was amazed by the fact that there would come a day when she’d see Jiang DeXian upset. He was, after all, the one who was rumored to be her little boy toy and was still able fight back nonchalantly.
Jiang DeXian remained silent for a little while and said, “It really wasn’t something that embarrassing to share.
“Both of us were going to form a group together and I was understood to become the team captain.”
Snickered.
It was wrong but, even under such a serious moment, Fang JunRong couldn’t help but busted out laughing. The images of Jiang DeXian almost becoming an idol and dancing and singing on stage in her mind made her laugh. She couldn’t picture that at all.
Jiang DeXian touched his temple and he sounded helpless for a change, “I sort of figured that would be your reaction.”
“Carry on.”
Jiang DeXian said, “A boss in the circle had his eyes on me and my company mentioned it to me. I declined him. The boss got mad and ordered me blocked. You knew what happened afterward.”
Fang JunRong asked, “Did Li Xuan have something to do with this?”
She knew Jiang DeXian well after all. He wasn’t a petty person and would not have held grudges just because Li Xuan had become the team captain instead of him. As such, Li Xuan must have a hand in all this.
Jiang DeXian’s look turned cold. “I found out later that he was the one who recommended me to the boss. He knew my personality and knew that I would decline. He recommended a younger one later on, debuted as the team captain, and received all the resources.”
Fang JunRong knew that this circle was dark but never paid a lot of attention to it. She was fairly disgusted by it now that she had heard all this.
Jiang DeXian surely had it rough.
She didn’t know what to say to comfort him so she finally said, “I can give you a raise. How’s 10% sound?”
Jiang DeXian couldn’t help but chuckled. His eyes looked like spring when he smiled. “Boss surely is a tender person.”
Tender?
That was the first time she had heard that about herself. Even though she had put up a virtuous wife and good mother front in the past but after she was set up by Li WangJin, any idiot would have snapped out of that. Many called her ruthless behind her back but she knew that she did not regret what she had done. No matter how many times she had rebirthed, she would still do what she had done.
After a walk around the lake, Fang JunRong went back to the venue of the competition. The atmosphere of the competition was livelier than she had expected and all the seats were filled. She took a look. A different kind of juice from Shengxing was placed in front of each of the guests.
Fang JunRong smiled a little. Suddenly, something seemed to have happened in the backstage. Something seemed to have gone wrong with the sound system.
