Fang JunRong pondered a little. “One way or another, let’s evacuate them first. I can help arrange for places to house them.”
She could always book all the motels in town and hotels in the city.
Mayor Mo said, “It’s fine, I can do that.” As the local government, if he couldn’t even do that much, he might as well head home to sell lychee instead.
Fang JunRong thought about it some and added, “Okay. You can also let them know that I am planning to open up a factory here. The families who follow orders will have first dibs on the interviews.”
She figured there would always be those who would not follow the advice from the government and felt that the situation was not that dire and refused to leave.
She would need to resort to offering them actual benefits. Most of the families in Dingyang Village earned their income from selling fruits. As traffic here was inconvenient, there weren’t a lot of fruit vendors that would come here and those who came would lowball them.
From what Chen MingZhu had told her, a family’s average income was around 20,000 – 30,000 yuan. And they need to support the entire family on that income. That was the reason why many families chose to work out of town. Take her house for example, it was built with the money that her father had saved up from working out of town. Should Fang JunRong open up a factory there, the lowest wage would be 3,000 yuan. That would be good money for the locals. Location-wise, it would be close to home and they could go home easily and they could earn money on top of that.
Mayor Mo looked appreciative. “Thank you, Boss Fang.” She was but an outsider and didn’t need to do all those things. Yet she did so much for people that she didn’t even know. She was certainly a kind-hearted entrepreneur.
Mayor Mo was a man of action. He made calls immediately and had his men leap into action.
Fang JunRong sat aside and waited for the outcome quietly. The office was bustling and the corner that she sat in was the only quiet spot. She would think about Jiang DeXian occasionally and considered possible responses from him when they met.
***
Jiang DeXian stared into the air and spaced out holding a pen in his hand. His side profile was so handsome and pretty under the light that he looked more like a piece of art rather than a real person.
He had been sitting there like that for a while now.
There was knocking on the door and Jiang DeXian recollected himself. “C’mon in.” His deep voice sounded particularly magnetic in the night.
The door was pushed open and a worker with a ponytail from Marketing walked in with documents in her hand, reporting to him the sales statuses of each province from last month.
It only took Jiang DeXian a few seconds’ time to go from his dazed state into his working state. He listened to the report attentively.
After she was done with the report, the fair-looking girl gave him a look and asked with a shy smile on her, “Would Assistant Jiang like to go grab something to eat? It’s time to get off work.”
Jiang DeXian was the handsomest man she had ever seen. From her perspective, he was handsomer than all the celebrities that her colleagues were after. His look was arguably to die for when he worked. As such, she couldn’t help but make the first move and aske him out to dinner. She was hoping that it would turn into something more.
Jiang DeXian’s face cooled some. He lowered his head and said, “No, I don’t eat this late at night. You go. I have more work to take care of.”
The girl was very disappointed but she couldn’t continue to pursue it so she left with a look of disappointment.
When the door closed again, Jiang DeXian let out a sigh. It was a very light sigh, so light that it almost disappeared into the air.
He did not regret saying what he did to Fang JunRong. He couldn’t stand the thought of her being hurt, or even death……
