Chapter 109 - Battle Against Nova (1)
The three of them went inside the hole. The hole was connected to an extremely large cave.
Adam was amazed that such a large underground base would exist under a desolate wilderness.
As soon as they moved away from the entrance, they entered a place where there was not even a trace of light.
But fortunately, Alumig had an inextinguishable flame that served them as light and brighten up their eyesight so there was no hindrance in their progress.
The cave was long. It was when they walked three hours on a bumpy and slippery cave.
A light appeared. The trio immediately lowered their bodies and quickly found a rock to hide behind.
"…There is a place like this here..."
What appeared in front of them was a vast underground lake.
The size of the lake was so prodigious, it was hard to see the other side of the lake.
But, it was not the important part here.
The magical thing was one can see the vast and endless sky from the cave, it was like an illusion but it wasn't.
The cave had magical infrastructure so that one can't see inside the cave from outside.
But, the people inside can clearly what's going on outside.
Unexpectedly, they walked towards the cave after landing before a certain distance, if they would have flown here.
The Nova bastards would have already captured them. The light they witnessed was starting to flow out from the other side of the lake.
It was far away, but they could clearly see that the light was coming off from the other side. Amelia rejoiced.
'It really exists!'
On the opposite side of the lake, many torchlights were lighting up a large building into view.
The building was tall enough to almost touch the high cave's ceiling, and the size of its front resembled a great temple.
Nova's mark stood on top of the building in clear view and welcomed them. They also saw quite a few people going in and out of the building.
"Well let's go, and prepare for an attack."
After scouting the group retreated silently.
-----
The knights' spears rose high as if they were going to pierce the sky.
The swords on their hips were sharp, and the shields on their arms were thick and sturdy.
The battle horses were muscular and moved in a steady line, following right behind the tail of the horse in front of them.
The knights looked as if they were apostles sent from heaven. But, the apostles were very low in number.
Behind them, 12 people wearing white robes and holding a long staff rode on a wagon pulled by a working horse.
Some priests prayed for the blessing and safety of their comrades who were going to battle and enact judgment and punishment upon their enemies.
"I am sorry Mr Adam." Eria made a bitter smile and continued, "I couldn't bring any more support with us."
Adam glanced at the handful no. of soldiers and priests and sighed.
'I have already guessed this when the system mentioned that she would be kicked out after failing only one mission.'
The old man, Rufard had complicated look on his face, seeing the sigh slipping out of Adam's mouth.
He slightly nudged the rock on his way and said, "As a knight, I will give my best to help you Sir, Adam crystal."
Adam smiled at his words and said, "It's okay, there is no need to go as far as taking the pledge and all to protect me."
After that Adam stopped walking and glanced at the people behind him.
All of them had the same symbols embedded in their clothes: the Alfuria symbol.
They were the military force that had gathered to fight against the Nova.
They gave off such a tense and sharp atmosphere that it was incredibly difficult to approach them.
Their determination to go to war was motivated by the idea of sacrificing their lives for the cause.
Even if they died in this battle, they would be merely departing from their flesh and going to Alfuria's side for a life of eternal happiness.
Their faith relieved them from their fear and made them even more fearsome in battle.
The only problem that reduced their spirit was their number, it was too low to fight against an entire base by themselves.
Rufard, who was advancing from the very front, raised his hand. In an instant, the entire small military force halted.
While holding the reins, he observed ahead. The vast wilderness he had seen lay before him.
He saw the groove where he had previously visited with holy scouts. "It's over there."
When Rufard pointed his fingers at a rock from a distance, all the people of Alfuria stared at the rock.
"Beneath that rock, there is an entrance to an underground cave."
"It's finally starting." Eira tightly gripped her reins next to Adam. Her heart pounded in anticipation and nervousness.
"Yes. We are finally starting judgment against those evil children of Nova."
Even Rufard was excited by the upcoming war; his eyes were already full of bloodlust.
This was the same for the rest of the Holy soldiers.
Whether their army was big or small, a fiery fire formed in the hearts of all the women and men of Alfuria.
However, one person did not share their sentiments. Adam was extremely calm; no, the coldness of his spear he sharpened inside his heart made him emit a freezing atmosphere.
His icy, cold heart completely contrasted the fiery hearts of the soldiers around him.
He let go of his reins and got down from his horse. It had already been agreed upon that Adam and Amelia would go ahead and infiltrate the temple first.
"Please be careful."
Amelia said and speedily run towards the hole they had previously entered.
"Please be careful, Mr Adam."
Eira said with concern on her face, Adam nodded and started to fly towards the cave in another direction.
His role was to attract the high priest and cardinal of Nova temple and jeep then engaged till Amelia sneaks in and destroys the evil book.
On the other hand, the Alfuria army will fight against the children of Nova head-on.
Adam knew that their numbers are low and had secretly prepared reinforcements for them.
If the army was in danger of annihilation, the reinforcements will support them.
Adam went through the cave at a fast pace.
'I'm sure they've noticed that Alfurias are hereby now.'
As this thought just occurred proving it to be true a group of 3 men appeared before him in black robes.
Adam slightly smiled, "Let the slaughter begin!"
