Chapter 106: A Commoner's Perspective

Chapter 106: A Commoner's Perspective

LOCATION: CHEVALIER HOUSEHOLD MANOR

CRUX CITY, CENTRAL REGION OF STELLARUS EMPIRE

****DINNING HALL****

"Lady Lorraine should remember this; There are times that when a person's authority and power have too much on their arsenal, the best option would be to remain how things should be and never stepped into that line."

The people inside the dining hall couldn't help but look at the Lady Marchioness after she said those words while taking another sip of her tea as if nothing happened.

Some old servants who had worked at the Chevaliers for a long time could already tell their lady master's way of thinking and most of them just sighed because whenever she talks in a cryptic way, those words had an underlying meaning to it.

As for the other servants who just got recently hired, they didn't have an idea on what their lady master was talking about, but they weren't that stupid to comment recklessly behind their master's back and they just shrugged off their shoulders and just pretending they didn't hear anything.

"However, your opinion isn't that bad either. It's just…. How things works within the noble society, and I just hope that if I ever offended you with my words then, I apologize for that."

Felicity said in a mild tone as she looked straight into Lorraine's ginger-colored eyes and smiled bitterly.

Lorraine, on the other hand, didn't feel offended as she could understand what the Lady Marchioness was trying to say and even though this is her second time around in the current timeline, Lorraine admitted that she is still a bit lacking about the knowledge within the noble society and her mindset is that of a commoner's perspective and not in the noble's perspective.

'I think I could understand her a little bit. She's giving me a warning since the moment that the Chevaliers backed me up and the Grand Duke became my guardian, I am pretty much sure that I am now affiliated with them, no matter what explanation we could give in to the others.'

Lorraine thought as she remembered how those pesky aristocratic children back at the academy to suck up to her because of her rare awakened bloodline power and if it wasn't for the Chevaliers, especially the Grand Duke to become Lorraine's guardian, the woman didn't know what could have happened to her.

Since she is no longer the heroine of this worldline as she had break free from the shackles that binds her, she no longer had the protection that she needs.

If she didn't propose an alliance to the Grand Duke then, there will be no doubt that she would be eaten alive by those rotten nobles out there.

She only could thank that the Crown Prince didn't become a student at the academy and was being confined in his Palace because of the accusations from three years ago and it became a relief for her since she wouldn't think on how to avoid such person.

'Tsk! I don't know how that b*stard became one of the male leads and to become the main male lead as well! Argh! Just thinking about the time, we spent together in the previous timeline makes me want to puke! Bleh!'

Lorraine thought as she felt disgusted as she remembered those times that she was still under the control of that unknown corrupted God and couldn't do anything from that time as she could only see herself being a puppet for their own entertainment.

As for how she break from those shackles that binds her? Up until to this day, she doesn't have an idea and she intends to find out on her own or maybe….

'There are still some secrets about this worldline that I haven't known for?'

Lorraine thought as she frowns for a second but snapped from those thoughts as she looked at the people around her within this hall.

She sighed as she snapped herself once more and looked at the Lady Marchioness and she remembered the words coming from this dignified noblewoman.

'Her advice isn't that bad since it comes from her experience as one of the most prominent noblewomen at her generation within the noble society and I couldn't blame her for that.'

Lorraine admitted that she is still a bit lacking in her studies about the social etiquettes and noble standings back at the academy since she came from a commoner background, although she knew the basics but only the surface that she could catch up with the others, who had studied from their young age.

Just like the two Chevaliers in her presence, who have integrated themselves within the noble society at their young age, and both siblings had experienced the dark side of this cruel society disguise in lavish luxury parties and events that they mostly held for appearance's sake.

"No. It's alright, Lady Marchioness. Actually, I should be the one who should apologize instead because of my lack of knowledge in this field, and I only said those words from a commoner's perspective and nothing else. It seems like I was the one who offended the Grand—, I mean, the Marquis instead."

She admitted her wrongdoings by saying those words and that made the other three people look at her with different kinds of expression.

Francis looks amused as he held his chin with a smirk plastered on his face.

Altron raised his eyebrow as he looked at Lorraine and shook off his head as he sighed.

But the Lady Marchioness' expression….

Others had seen how the matured young noblewoman like Lady Marchioness Felicity carried herself in the public with her cold and dignified demeanor befitted on her station as the Eldest Young Lady from one of the most prominent households in the Empire that could ever have.

However, right now….

"It seems like it has been decided then. Why not we eat first and after this, we will proceed this discussion on the Marquis' office."

Felicity said and smiled gently at Lorraine that made others shiver for some reason.

The other servants, especially the old ones who had worked for the Chevaliers for a long time and had witness the Eldest Young Lady's growth from her toddler years to adulthood, couldn't help but send some silent prayers to their dear guests.

Altron, on the other hand, sighed as he held his forehead because he could tell that it would be a great headache for what Felicity is trying to discuss with them.

'Argh! What could it be then?'

****HEADMASTER OFFICE****

Ever since Altron took over the position of the Marquis (Grand Duke) noble title and became the new Patriarch of the household, he had a hard time organizing everything back then since their father just suddenly hand over the authority of the household to him.

Their father was with them during the trial three years ago and he didn't speak for the whole trial and only watch as a spectator, just like the other nobles from that time and only Altron had spoken within the trial to question the Crown Prince, but he had his other siblings backing him up.

Their father didn't speak the whole time, but others could sense his murderous aura slipping away throughout the trial court that even the Emperor couldn't speak or berate his father from that time because the Emperor knew that if he said something out of line then, their father won't hesitate to retaliate if necessary.

When the verdict came and the Crown Prince was found guilty within the trial, the Emperor had no choice but to decree that the Crown Prince would be placed into solitary confinement and cut off from the outside world for an indefinite period of time.

Even though Altron didn't like how the Crown Prince only ended up being confined within his Palace, they couldn't demand even more since at the end of the day, he is still a royalty and to demand more would get them into trouble.

After that trial, they went back home to prepare everything for Ezekiel's funeral ceremony and after five days and everything had settled, their father, the Marquis, immediately hand over the title to him and everything else before he disappeared without a trace.

The three siblings couldn't forget the expression their father had before disappearing and for the first time in their lives…. Their father, who was known as the Iron-Blooded Swordmaster… had shed a single tear as he looked away from Ezekiel's tomb and left them afterwards.

"Is there something wrong? You've been quiet for a moment, dear brother."

Altron snapped from his thoughts as he heard Felicity's voice calling out to him.

He shook off his head as he waved his hand and said; "It's nothing. I just… remember something from the past though…"

After they had eaten and left the dining hall, the four of them are now inside the Headmaster's Office where the Marquis' resides for his workplace within the household and the maids had serve them snacks and drinks before they left their masters and their guests.

"Let me guess…. It's either about father or our dear little brother, Ezekiel."
