Chapter 38: An Invitation from the Crown
Chapter 38: An Invitation from the Crown
*********
'Now what is this?!'
Eclipse didn't know if he would lashed out on everyone at plain sight or just laugh on it because of the letter that was delivered into his chamber.
'Great! Just f*cking great! Why do I need to suffer like this? Also, I don't remember being summoned into the Royal Palace in my previous life when I was a teen?!'
If looks could kill, the invitation letter that was laid in front of him could have holes on it.
If this was just an ordinary invitation coming from some noble households, Eclipse could just ignore it because he wasn't fond of fake pleasantries and such.
However, this one invitation isn't just an ordinary invitation that Eclipse could just brushed it off.
A golden envelope with the crown's insignia indicates that it's either from His Majesty, the Emperor or His Highness, the Crown Prince.
'Now, what?!'
"Third Young Master, the envoy who came from the Royal Palace who delivered this letter are waiting for your response. We also advise them not to meet you right away because of the circumstances and the First Young Master was the one who greeted the envoy on your stead."
Eclipse thought; 'Now, that's perfect! It's much better for the First Young Master to greet them since he is the heir apparent of this household and it's his responsibility to oversee what's happening.'
"Is that so? Then, just let the First Young Master handled it besides, no matter how I respond to this invitation, the final decision would falls into the First Young Master's hands, not mine."
His choice of words is blunt and indifferent as he noticed how the servant flinch because of his statement.
"B-but third young master…."
Eclipse was seconds ago not to lashed out at the poor servant who were just doing their job.
"What?"
The servant startled once again but manage to speak; "B-before I got here and delivered the letter, the first young master told me that if you don't want to respond to the invitation, he will handle everything on his end. He also stated that there's nothing for you to worry if you're not comfortable accepting the request from the Royal Palace."
'Huh? Is that so?'
Eclipse; "Hmmm…. If I don't accept this letter of invitation coming from the Royal Palace, will the first young master be implicated if he intervenes?"
The servant didn't know how to response but as someone who could read between the lines and underlying meanings, he response; "Well, yes at first, the first young master would be implicated in this matter since the invitation came not just from any noble household but coming from the Palace. It's either the Emperor or the Crown Prince who summoned the third young master into the Palace…."
Eclipse looked at the servant who paused mid-sentence and he noticed that this servant was anxious on how to continue but Eclipse coughed to catch the servant's attention.
"Keep going. I know you want to say something more."
The servant: "I don't know if it's my right to say this, but this servant has a nagging feeling that the third young master shouldn't response to this invitation. This servant doesn't know but couldn't ignore this feeling…."
Eclipse thinks further as he looked at the servant once again who keeps on trembling on where he stood, the world-hopper couldn't help but to chuckled because he could see this servant is like a rabbit trembling in fear.
'Actually, this servant was good at least. He can analyze about this situation that seems odd from other's perspective.'
Eclipse also finds it odd as well. As he recalled from his previous life, he was never summoned to the Royal Palace during his teenage years. Just because of a mere scandal, it became like this.
However, it's not like this would affect the main plot and according to the timeline right now, a week right now, the school year would start, as well as the main plot of the worldline.
'I don't really care about this matter, but I also wanted to know who summoned me into the Royal Palace. If it's His Majesty, the Emperor, then it won't be a problem but…. If it's the Crown Prince, I need to be cautious with that sly b*stard!'
Just remembering that the Crown Prince was also involve in Rheina's situation as well as the Clandestine Clan's succession, Eclipse might as well investigate this on his own.
Not only that, but there are also a lot of troublesome things that he needs to settle before he leaves this hell household.

FLASHBACK
"Well then, why don't you start talking? Why was my mother's body in here and also what's the Project Terix from that inscription at the bottom of the glass chamber that had disappeared? Also, where was that glass chamber right now and what's with this orb?"
Eclipse throws a series of questions back at the old man and Laxurus couldn't help but held his forehead because of his grandson's question at him like he is pulling some sort of fire ball directly to his face.
"Brat! One question at the time, will yah?! Do you think I can answer those questions in one sentence?!"
Eclipse shrugged off his shoulders as he crossed his arms in front of his chest while looking at the old man with his deadpan expression.
Laxurus, on the other hand, saw this and couldn't help but to put his hand on his neck because he feels like his blood pressure would rise because of this insolent child in front of him.
'I don't know why I have such an insolent grandson but for some reason, I couldn't get angry with him.'
Laxurus took a deep breath to calm himself before he speaks; "Okay, for your first question. About your mother. Although I won't go into details that much because it's too early for you to know but about her body being presented inside the glass chamber? Are you asking if that was really your mother or not?"
Eclipse nodded as a confirmation because he wanted to know if the one, he saw inside the glass chamber was truly his mother or not.
"Well, about your mother inside the glass chamber that you saw earlier, it wasn't her but at the same time it is."
Eclipse raised an eyebrow; 'What kind of f*cking explanation was that?! It's my mother that's inside the glass chamber but at the same time it wasn't?!'
Laxurus could see the confusion from his grandson's stoic expression; "Let me explain further. It's more akin like…. A fragment. Actually, I don't know how this happens. Even my son didn't know about this and I only place this at the secret chamber within the Hall of Legacy.
The secret door that you and your companion entered is another layered of the room away from the main Hall of Legacy so no one would know about this place. Only me and now you and that companion of yours."
'A fragment? From my mother? By why was it before I come to this chamber that I felt my soul energy reacting to it? What could that possibly mean?'
« Host, this might be a clue about the restoration of your soul energy as we didn't know why Sir Red choose for your to transmigrated back here in your original world. »
He almost got startled because of the sudden robotic voice coming from Silver.
'Wow! You just choose the right time to speak, aren't you?'
« Silver has been listening to the conversation the whole time while looking into the system archive. Upon checking, there are information that was missing, and Silver couldn't comprehend which one was it. »
Eclipse frowns as he listens to Silver's explanation and that makes him think further because if there are missing information within the system archive then, it means that…. Someone might have tampered with it.
Because the system archive is the house of knowledge within the Worldline Realms and no information could escape unless someone manages to tamper it but even if someone tampered that information, Eclipse sure that the Main House System wouldn't let that happen.
'Is there something happened within the Main House System?'
Eclipse snapped from his daze with the old man coughed to catch his attention because of how silence he was, and the world-hopper looked back at him with a deadpan expression, waiting for the next explanation that makes the old man's pressure point would go up because of how insolent he had for a grandson.
'Aigoo! It seems like my old age is catching me up but just by looking at this brat, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry about it. Since he promised to this brat that he would answered all of his questions then, I'll provide it with the best of my knowledge.'
Laxurus sighed as he continued; "As for the Project Terix, well…. How should I explain this. This was actually your mother's idea though. You know what, I find it hard to believe that both you and your mother manage to find me and even know my true identity. Both of you are truly a mystery to me that's hard to decipher."
Eclipse frowns at the mention of her mother and he was shocked that her mother knew about the previous Patriarch. How was that possible? Before they were brought to the Chevalier manor, the previous Patriarch is no longer there so how come?
"Project Terix was my mother's idea? What was that all about then?"
Laxurus shrugged off his shoulder while crossing his arms in front of his shoulder and sighed.
"She told me before that you will know once you reach this place. After that, I have no clue. Your mother is a mystery, you know. All I know is that she is first daughter from a merchant family but even that was also a mystery as well."
END OF FLASHBACK

Eclipse snapped from his thoughts when he remembered what that old man said to him, but he set aside that matters for now as he needs to think about this sudden invitation.
'I think it will be better to just accept this invitation and to see who I am meeting with.'
