Chapter 70: Origin Archive
Chapter 70: Origin Archive
********
For some reason, the world-hopper noticed that most of his memories are either vague or incomplete.
He frowns as he think further.
From what he recalled, he remembered how he died in his previous life as Ezekiel and that's because of those false accusations that pinned into his head that labeled him as a villain and a traitor within the Empire.
'I will only acknowledge the fact that I ordered for the assassination for the Marchioness but other than that, those false accusations had nothing to do with me!'
Eclipse thought as he remembered how his first life had ended because of those people, especially that woman, the heroine of this worldline.
Lorraine Fowler.
That accursed name brought nothing but a nightmare to him as Ezekiel Zephyr Chevalier.
'As someone who had the minor villain role and mostly, a cannon fodder villain, of course, my life as Ezekiel was nothing but just a steppingstone for the heroine and her six male leads to shine for the story development.'
Aside from those memories that Eclipse had manage to remember, there are other memories that he didn't quite remember or rather, most of them are incomplete for some unknown reason.
The example about that was…. her mother's background identity.
As he reminisces some of his incomplete memories, Eclipse suddenly remembered something.
'That mysterious package back then…'
Yes. That's right. The mysterious package that came to him during his mother's funeral back then.
Before Eclipse left for the academy, he tried to recall where he tucked away that mysterious package and when he finally recalled, he immediately went back to his quarters where his deceased biological mother was residing when she was still alive.
When he finally found that package, Eclipse immediately stored it within his system interface since his system had a feature that store some items that's similar to dimensional pockets.
As for what's inside that mysterious package? Eclipse doesn't know yet.
'Well, I will check for that on a later date but right now, that's not the top priority and I'll set aside those trivial matters for now.'
.....
......
.........
"Your mother's background is indeed a mystery, you know that. From what I learned from other world-hoppers, this is the usual scenario of a protagonist who had a hidden birth background or something because of their parent's secret background but it usually comes with the mother's side though."
Eclipse almost choked on his saliva when he heard what Arico said, and he looked back at him with his most deadpan expression written on his face.
"Are you f*cking kidding with me? What the f*cking hell are you f*cking saying?!"
Arico almost got cringe at too much cuss within the world-hopper's statement that he feels like he needs to baptize his ears with some holy water for purification.
'Geez! This kid sure had a lot of temper!'
He ignore the world-hopper's usual temper as he shook off his head and said; "Believe it or not but that's your situation right now the way I see it."
Eclipse waved his hands as he snorted back because of Arico's ridiculous statement.
"If I were going to choose, I'll rather became a villain than to become those so-called protagonists instead! I don't want to become those pompous idiots whose braincells aren't working that much!"
Arico almost coughed to the point that he would laugh at Eclipse's outburst, but he refrained from laughing out loud and only snickered a bit lest he want to suffer from his wrath.
Eclipse might appear calm and indifferent but there are times when he would lose his composure if someone pissed him off for the smallest thing and Arico experienced it first-hand, and he didn't want to experience it again.
Others might call him the cold-blooded agent within the Slayers Department and was noted to be the most notorious slayer agent that most of the world-hoppers and other agents from other departments were wary of him because of his fearsome reputation.
However, all of that would be nothing when it comes to Eclipse.
'Sometimes, I wonder what kind of power Eclipse was stored within him? I also wonder what kind of identity he had aside from being a Platinum world-hopper and a former minor villain of this worldline?'
Arico thought as he keeps on thinking about Eclipse's unique background that differs him from the rest of all beings that the Slayer Agent had met.
Her biological mother, Aryna Asterrix, is the biggest mystery that Arico wanted to unveil because there is only a limited information about her that even the system archive doesn't have.
'I think this should be addressed to Sir Red as soon as possible because this could lead them to future problems if we weren't careful.'
Also, maybe they could ask some favor from Sir Red about this situation since he is one of the beings that could have an access within the Origin Archive and get some extended information about Aryna Asterrix.
'However, I don't know if Sir Red would grant us that favor though since the Origin Archive isn't just an ordinary system library that everyone could have an access just because we get some permission from one of the Higher Councils.'
Within the Main House System, there are three system libraries that most world-hoppers, agents and higher beings could have an access based on their ranks and qualifications.
For world-hoppers that were given titles (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum), they have the authority to access the [System Archive], an archive of worldline information that stored within it and only those world-hoppers who were given titles are the ones who are allowed to have an access.
For the agents from other departments, they have the authority to access the [Standard Archive], an archive with only a limited number of information that they could access for their everyday basis.
This is the archive that Arico usually used for his job as the Slayer Agent, but he is also one of those few agents that could have an access for the [System Archive] if needed and with the permission from the Higher Councils.
And the last but not the least, for Higher Beings such as the Councils and their master, the Lord God…. They were the only ones who had full authority to have an access the [Origin Archive]. The [Origin Archive] is a vast library of knowledge of the universe and the ones who created this vast library was none other than the Lord God itself.
In reality, the Lord God should be the only being that could have an access within this archive but since the universe is like an endless vast ocean that swarm within the galaxies, the Lord God appointed some of its trusted councils and Sir Red is one of them.
'I guess, we really need to address this to Sir Red and let him decide then. Until then, we would think for that in the later date.'
...
........
......….
"How come you're not in the academy by the way? According to Sir Red and your character description, as Ezekiel Zephyr Chevalier, a young master from the Marquis Chevalier household, noble children should be mandatory to attend in that academy. What happened?"
Eclipse just shrugged off his shoulders as he said; "Nothing. I just felt that I don't need to attend in that hellhole of an academy."
Arico raised an eyebrow as he suddenly remembered something; "How was your progression rate within this worldline?"
The world-hopper knew where this conversation would lead them, but he shook off his head; "You still haven't explained to me properly what you're doing here in this worldline, Arico. I know you already stated about Sir Red but your true goal within this worldline, you haven't told me that clearly."
'Geez! This kid sure isn't going to let this slide, isn't he?'
Arico sighed because no matter how much he wanted to divert the topic but knowing Eclipse's sharp observation skills within the situation, the world-hopper wouldn't let Arico go without explaining things clearly to him.
"Okay, here's the thing. I'll just summarize everything since I don't want this conversation to take too long. Back at the Main House System, especially in the World-Hopping Department, there is a traitor lurking within Sir Red's side from that time but don't worry, everything has been solved… for the meantime though."
Eclipse snapped to looked at Arico when he heard what he said and frowns; "Who is that idiot dared to betray Sir Red like that? Does that person know what the consequences are for betraying him?"
Arico said nonchalantly; "It's Kira. She betrayed Sir Red by collaborating with one of the Higher Councils to harm you, a successor candidate."
The Slayer Agent waited for Eclipse's reaction to this news because for all he knew, Kira and Eclipse seemed to have some sort of close friendship because of how others often saw them together back at the Main House System, platonically though.
However, Arico didn't expect Eclipse's deadpan and nonchalant reaction from the news as he shrugged off his shoulders and said; "Good riddance! Geez! I didn't expect her to be caught red-handed. Well, it's her fault though to covet something that she shouldn't have."
