Chapter 262: Another Shop Opened in the County Town
Ji Jianyun was happy seeing his comrades do well.
Lao Qin came over to borrow 500 yuan, and Ji Jianyun gave it to him.
Ji Jianyun was a little tempted to open a shop in the county town, but he didn't find a suitable place yet.
When he was looking for a shop, he had to find someone he could trust to take care of it like Sister He and Sun Dashan. Su Danhong believed in Sister He, which was why Ji Jianyun agreed to have her work for them. Otherwise Ji Jianyun would hand over this important business to someone like Sun Dashan, who he did not know before?
His wife had a good eye. Sun Dashan and Sister He watched over the shop and every account was calculated clearly for him.
Every time he made a delivery, they counted everything and recorded it. There was never any difference from the notebook his father kept on the mountain. It was always like this.
Also, he lent money to them. It was not easy to have an 80-square-meter house in a place like the college town.
Thus, the couple sold more things for him, and earned a few more dollars every month than before.
It wasn’t a lot more money, but Ji Jianyun was very satisfied with their work ethics. If he wanted to buy a shop in the county town, he had to find someone suitable to work there.
Ji Jianyun told his wife about this.Su Danhong smiled. “Go and ask Ji Feng and his grandma to see if they are willing to do it. They can have 50 yuan a month as their salary. They will only be responsible for selling and we will deliver the goods.”
Ji Jianyun was only going to mention it, but he didn't expect his wife to go as far as recommending someone.
He thought it was good as soon as he heard what she said.
“You are indeed my wife! Let me go and talk to them!” Ji Jianyun said with a smile.
Su Danhong shook her head and ignored him. He was a man who really couldn't sit still and had to be doing something.
After he saw that Lao Qin opened another shop, he wanted to go through that trouble too, so she let him do it.
Ji Feng and Ji Feng’s grandmother were both at home when Ji Jianyun came over.
“Uncle, why are you here?” Ji Feng pushed a chair out for him and asked.
“I want you to talk to aunt about something,” Ji Jianyun said, and without hesitation, he explained his plan.
Ji Feng's eyes lit up when he heard this. “Uncle, believe in me! I can do it, I will definitely do it!”
“You have to go to the college town to learn for a while.” Ji Jianyun said. He then asked Ji Feng’s grandmother, “Aunt, what do you think?”
“Jianyun, if you can trust my grandson, then I will do this for you. I will ask Xiao Feng to record every account for you, and the accounts will always match at the end of the month!” Ji Feng's grandmother was of course willing to look after the shop.
She and her grandson were the only ones left in her family. Over the years, thanks to Jianyun's help, they have managed to survive. Xiao Feng was getting bigger and bigger. In a few years, he might have a wife.
But who would like the current state their family was in?
She started to get anxious. She usually saved money for her grandson, but she couldn't save much no matter how much she tried.
Now there was a potential job to earn fifty yuan a month by selling things. Ji Feng's grandmother believed that she could do it, and her grandson was old enough to help!
“Okay then. Tomorrow morning, Ji Feng, you and Heshan will go to the college town and learn with Uncle Dashan for a while. If you feel like you are ready, you can come back,” Ji Jianyun said.
“Okay!” Ji Feng's eyes lit up.
The next day, he got into the big truck for the first time in his life. It felt like flying and they soon arrived at the college town.
Xu Heshan told Sun Dashan about Ji Jianyun's plans, and he immediately agreed.
During the next few days,Ji Feng worked as an apprentice helper in the college town.
Su Danhong definitely had unique good eyes. If she liked something and believed it was good, then it would be.
Ji Feng was not an adult. He was only fifteen. Because of his family’s conditions, he was thin. He was a child from a poor family, and he knew how to endure hardships.
After he went to the college town, he was asked to do almost all the work Sun Dashan did.
Sun Dashan first had him sell goods and do the accounting. After training for a few days, Su Dashan was satisfied with his work. However, he did not let him leave immediately and had him continue to get familiar with it.
Ji Feng would have to hold up the shop on his own. Although he had help from his grandmother, she was already quite old, and so he would be the main force in upholding it.
In addition to that, as Ji Jianyun told him, Sun Dashan must train him well. If he didn’t, wouldn't his reputation go bad?
After seven or eight days of learning, Ji Feng became really good at it. He also learned more than managing the shop. He learned how to kill chickens from Sun Dashan. Although he was slow at killing them, he was decent. He also learned to kill fish.
So in less than ten days, Ji Feng left.
Before he came back, he thanked Sun Dashan. He also thanked Father Sun and Mother Sun who had been taking care of him, and then followed Xu Heshan back.
During this period of time, Ji Jianyun bought a shop in a busy area in the county town. Because of the area, the price was very high. Ji Jianyun was determined to buy it though.
This means that the money he made this year was spent again. He was going to buy a truck, but those plans fell through and he couldn’t buy it anymore.
However, Ji Jianyun was happy with the shop after he bought it and asked someone to renovate it. The renovations were completed in a few days, so he started moving goods there.
When Ji Feng came back from the college town, Ji Jianyun didn't give him any time to rest. He asked him to go over and look after the shop.
“Uncle, I know how to kill chickens,” Ji Feng said to him when he saw that there was no chicken cage in the shop.
Ji Jianyun nodded. “Okay, I'll buy a refrigerator in the next few days. When you’re free, you can kill a few to sell.”
The shop sold a variety of things, including rice, soybeans, flowers, eggs, and fruits from the mountains. Since it was a new store opening, Ji Jianyun went to catch some fish and shrimp to sell. Business was very good.
The prices were all marked down, and there was an abacus to easily do the math.
After a few days, Ji Feng and Ji Feng's grandmother settled down in the county town. Ji Jianyun saw that they were adapting very well every day, and he felt relieved. However, he still told Lao Qin to go there when he had time.
It was a bit far away from Lao Qin's shop. They were not in the same district, so there wouldn't be any competition. Lao Qin had no problem going over, and even said that the deliveries should be done together. However, Ji Jianyun refused.
Lao Qin didn't mind. After all, it wasn’t a big deal to him and he was just asking to ask.
But his wife at home would mind. So forget it and Ji Jianyun could just ask someone else to do it.
