Charles saw Jaylon staying alone in the corner and said in a crisp voice,

“Reina, Mr. Malpas looks so pitiful alone there. Do you want to pull him over to play with him?”

As he said this, Charles jumped off the bed and planned to talk to Jaylon.

Charles sympathized with Jaylon. However, Charles’ words were unpleasant to Jaylon.

Reina glanced at Jaylon and said, “Don’t disturb him. He enjoys being alone.”

“Oh.” Charles rubbed his head and climbed back onto the bed. “Then I won’t disturb him. Let’s talk quietly.

“I just thought no one was willing to talk to him.”

Jaylon was lost for words.

Jaylon thought, the last sentence shouldn’t have been said.

Argus and Charles stayed in the sick room for an entire afternoon before leaving at dusk.

For the entire afternoon, Jaylon sat upright in a corner without a moment of relaxation. He looked completely silent and focused.

Jaylon seemed to be focused on his work. But in reality, Jaylon had been listening to the conversation between Reina and Argus.

After Argus and Charles left, Reina lay on the bed and did not speak to Jaylon.

The next day, Jaylon went out in the morning. He only returned when it was close to noon.

At lunchtime, Charles came again.

But this time Charles came alone. Argus didn’t come.

Charles put his Winnie the Pooh bag on the table and said, “His mother heard that he didn’t go out to sea yesterday and had been here with you. She was angry and didn’t let him go out.”

Charles unzipped his bag and put the things on the table one by one in order. He thought, mommy said that we should keep things in order.

Charles opened the lunchbox. They smelt the dishes.

“Argus can’t come today. Yet, he still made a meal and let me bring it over.”

Charles helped Reina put a small table on the bed and put the dishes on the table. “Good appetite.”

Reina picked up the fork and took one fry to Charles. “Try some!”

Charles shook his head and refused. “I have already eaten at home. You have it.”

Charles ate some at home.

Now he had no desire to eat another bite.

Charles thought, it’s really hard to earn ten lollipops. I not only need to take notes but also have to taste the dishes. I’m only ten years old, and I’m very tired.

Reina did not like forcing others. Since Charles did not eat, she put the food into her mouth.

After just a bite, she frowned.

Jaylon, who was sitting on the sofa, looked away from the laptop screen to look over calmly.

Charles asked, “Reina, is it delicious?”

Reina had a mixed facial expression. “It’s a little different from what Argus usually cooks.”

Charles said directly, “It tastes bad.

“I already said it was bad. But someone still didn’t believe me.”

As soon as Charles said this, Jaylon, who was sitting in the corner, looked cold.

The dish was not particularly bad. Yet, it was a bit spicy.

People in this country rarely ate spicy food. Charles could not eat even a little bit of spicy food. This morning, when he was tasting the dishes,

Charles almost cried from the spiciness.

Reina frowned just now because she had tasted something unusual about this dish.

The dishes didn’t taste like what Argus cooked.

Since Jaylon had disappeared for a whole morning, Reina felt that these dishes might have been made by Jaylon.

Reina thought, in the past two days, Jaylon has always been obedient and careful towards me. He asked Charles to bring the food over, probably because he was worried that if he gave it to me, I might reject him.

If it was the old Jaylon, he would not do this to please me.

After all, he was always arrogant in the past and looked down on men who were trying to please women.

But now, he has made a change for me and carefully catered to me.

Reina had a complicated feeling. She said, “Actually, it’s not bad. It doesn’t taste bad.”

Hearing this, Jaylon didn’t look so sullen. He left the mailbox page and started searching for how to make home-cooked dishes.

Jaylon’s first try was successful. So, he planned to continue it tomorrow.

Charles only stayed in the sick room for half an hour today. He left after Reina finished her lunch.

Charles was very active. It was already his limit to stay in the sick room for so long in the last two days.

After Charles left, Reina planned to go downstairs for a walk after lunch.

As soon as Reina sat up, Jaylon stood up. “What are you going to do? I’ll help you.”

In the past two days in the sick room, Jaylon had been paying attention to her movements all the time.

Jaylon would help Reina do anything else other than go to the restroom.

“I’m going down for a walk.” Reina got up.

Reina felt that she had almost recovered. Yet the red marks on her body had not disappeared. She needed to stay in the hospital for two more days.

She put on her slippers and slowly walked out.

Jaylon reached out to help her. However, before Jaylon could touch Reina, he silently shrank back. He thought, she hates me touching her.

Reina noticed his movements and pursed her lips. She asked, “How did you get the wound on your hand?”

This was the first time Reina had cared about Jaylon in the past few days.

Jaylon’s cold eyes softened a little. He said, “I hurt myself. It was a small wound.”

Reina did not ask further and continued to walk out.

When they went downstairs, Jaylon received an international call from America.

Jaylon looked at the screen and walked to a place where Reina could not hear. Then, he picked up the phone.

The call was from the prison.

The one on the phone said that Lacey had been requesting to call her daughter, Reina, all this time. However, they did not have Reina’s phone number, so they called to ask Jaylon.

Jaylon had not mentioned Lacey’s imprisonment to Reina. He thought for a moment and decided to ask Reina’s opinion first before calling back.

After ending the call, Jaylon returned to Reina. Yet, he couldn’t say anything.

Jaylon thought, Lacey is Reina’s mother. I sent Lacey to prison without letting Reina know. When Reina knows, she might hate me even more.

Seeing that Jaylon wanted to say something, Reina took the initiative to ask,

“What do you want to say?”

Jaylon said, “You have been away from America for so long. Have you ever thought of contacting your mother?”

“No.” Reina looked at Jaylon in confusion. “Why are you suddenly talking about this?”

Jaylon pursed his lips tightly and looked grave. “Your mother was imprisoned not long ago.”

Reina was a little dazed. She then asked calmly, “What crime?”

“Blackmail, stabbing others, and some minor crimes.”
