Chapter 476 Taxi

Reina worked until midnight last night and woke up after eight o’clock the next

morning.

She washed up and prepared to go out for a walk and eat breakfast. Just as she

opened the door, she saw some meat porridge hanging on the door.

It was obvious who had prepared it.

When she was abroad, Jaylon had already done this.

She did not touch the porridge and went out directly. She bought something to

eat at the breakfast shop.

When she went home from a walk, the house had been cleaned up. Even the

dirt on the wall had been scraped clean. A beautiful scenery wallpaper was

stuck to the wall.

She closed the door and received a text on the phone: “Do you like the

wallpaper?”

Reina did not reply. That afternoon, she asked the locksmith to change her lock,

in case that man came to her house and did all kinds of stuff for her.

After doing that, she got back to work.

The company she had worked with last time sent an invitation to hire her to

work in the company. The salary offered was slightly worse than what the Riven

Group offered her before, but it was more stable than what she had

now.

She thought about it for a day but still refused the invitation.

Now that she was pregnant, she could only work for the company for a few

months at most. It was better not to delay their recruitment of official employees.

She thought that the company might be dissatisfied with her for her refusal and

would not even work with her anymore.

Unexpectedly, two days later, they contacted her and sent her several

documents, saying that they could not recruit official employees for the time

being and wanted her to work for some time.

Reina was still thinking about returning the money to Lacey. When the child was

born, she would need a large sum of money too. For her, the more work, the

better.

After she worked for them a few times, her performance was very satisfactory

for them.

Through the person in charge of that company, Reina came into contact with

more customers and gradually became busy.

It was tiring yet very fulfilling.

After drifting around for so long, she seemed to have got the feeling of being

needed when she was working and became more cheerful.

While she was focused on work, Jaylon seemed to be invisible and did not

appear in front of her again. If not for the food hanging on the door

changing every day, she would not even think of this person at all.

One day, she took another business interpretation job. She followed the vice

general manager to meet the client.

The work ended smoothly, and she was exhausted.

After being pregnant, she became a lot weaker and often felt tired.

The vice general manager called on the staff to go to a dinner party for a

celebration. Reina meant to decline the invitation with an excuse, but he directly

asked her to go as well.

There would be more cooperation, so it was not good for Reina to make their

relationship too sour. Hence, she had to agree.

When they arrived at the restaurant for dinner, Reina found that it was a

seafood restaurant.

She did not like seafood. In addition, she had not had much appetite recently.

Occasionally, she would feel like vomiting. She was worried that it

would kill the buzz, so she was ready to leave after the vice general manager

finished ordering.

Shortly, the vice general manager returned.

Just as Reina was ready to speak, the waiter served the dishes on their table.

To her surprise, in addition to seafood, there were also many other kinds of

food.

At first, she thought that this restaurant only offered seafood. Now, seeing other

dishes, she gave up the idea of leaving.

The atmosphere in the company was very good. Reina was not a member of

their company, but she did not feel that she could not fit in.

A few young girls even gossiped about the vice general manager’s romantic

affairs. The vice general manager did not put on airs at all and told these young

people what he had gone through when he was young.

He said that he had no other choice but to sleep in the street after being

cheated out of 3.2 thousand dollars for his first startup company. He also

mentioned that he resigned right after being scolded by his boss without getting

a new job first and thus ended up sleeping in the street again. Then, he recalled

that his first girlfriend was pregnant with another man’s kid…

The vice general manager’s story was dull and sad. As he spoke, he burst

into tears.

He cried and drank wine, looking pitiful and funny.

The others laughed and shared the bad things that they had encountered in the

past few years. They complained and drank together. The atmosphere

was very lively.

Although Reina drank coconut milk, she felt that she was a little drunk like

everyone else.

She actually found a sense of belonging in a company that she had worked

with a few times.

It seemed that she had been alone for too long. Only a little insignificant thing in

her life was enough to touch her.

After dinner, she helped a female colleague down the stairs.

That woman couldn’t drive as she was drunk. Reina was worried that

something would happen to her, so she called a taxi to send her home.

After helping the woman to her house, Reina returned downstairs and found

that the taxi she had just taken was still there.

At this time, the bus had stopped. Although she was reluctant to spend money,

she could only take a taxi back home.

Fortunately, this place was not particularly far from her home. 3 dollars would be

enough for her to get home.

She knocked on the window and said, “Sir, can you give me another ride?”

In the dim car, the driver was wearing a mask, and his tall figure was hidden

in his shirt. He looked a little strong.

He replied, “OK.” Then, he didn’t say anything else.

Reina felt that this driver was a little strange, but the taxi looked regular.

She thought that it should be fine, so she got in the car.

She told him the address, and the driver quickly stepped on the accelerator.

More than ten minutes later, Reina safely arrived downstairs at her home.

She paid the driver and got out of the car.

As she walked up, a flustered voice came from not far ahead. “Make way!

Make way! I’m losing it!”

Reina raised her head and saw a teenager riding a bicycle shakily toward

her.

Reina was shocked and subconsciously retreated.

However, behind her was the taxi, and there was no space for her to retreat.

Just as she took one step back, she bumped into the taxi behind her.

At the critical moment, the taxi driver suddenly strode over and pulled her aside.

She just bumped into his arms.

The young man who was riding a bicycle finally crashed into the taxi. He fell on

his back, and the head of the bicycle changed shape.

If the driver hadn’t pulled her, Reina would have been lying on the ground by

now.

It didn’t matter if she fell on her own, but it would be troublesome if the

baby was hurt.

Just as she was about to thank the driver, she looked up and saw a pair of

familiar eyes.

Although she couldn’t see the whole face, she was too familiar with these

eyes.

There was also a scar on his brow, which also proved the identity of the driver.

He frowned and looked coldly at the teenager who was getting up from the

ground. His eyes were dark as if he wanted to eat the teenager alive. The

teenager was frightened by his gaze. Besides, he did make a mistake. So, he

hurriedly apologized, “I’m really sorry. I’ve just started learning how to ride a

bicycle. I was practicing at night as there were fewer people. I didn’t

expect to bump into you.

“I will try my best to compensate you as you request. I’m really sorry!”
