Chapter 496 - Little Bell

Chapter 496 - Little Bell

The young woman watched as the large white lizard's eyes slowly opened up. She was in so much of a daze after hearing it talk she had completely forgotten to run away. She watched as the large lizard sat up and blinked its eyes, and looked around. "This is?" The large white lizard fell into deep thought as it tapped its claw on its chin. Its eyes then fell on the young woman holding her child staring at her. "Ummm, excuse me, but can you tell me where I am?"

"Ah? Oh. You are on the outskirts of Pearl Village." The young woman absentmindedly answered.

"Oh… Can I ask if you know why I am here? I can only seem to remember my name…" The large white lizard's round eyes looked at the young woman expectantly. For some reason, she found the large lizard to be quite cute.

"Mommy, it talks!" The little girl went from being scared to very curious as she stared at the large white lizard. She pushed on her mother and wiggled out of her arms, and ran over to the large white lizard.

The large white lizard saw the little girl and couldn't help but smile as it asked: "My name is Kana, little one, what is your name?"

"My name is Bell! Kana, can I pet you?" Bell asked with excited eyes. She had first thought the monster would be scary, but now she felt the monster was very kind!

"Hehe, go ahead." Kana agreed and waved Bell over. The young woman went into a panic and went to snatch her daughter up but stopped when she saw that the large white lizard closed its eyes and lowered its head for her daughter to pet it.

"You won't hurt her, right?" The young woman asked nervously.

"Hmm? Why would anyone dare hurt such a cute little girl? Look at her pudgy rosy cheeks. It makes one want to pinch them!" Kana did not just say it, she did it!

"Bah bah! Kana, don't do that! Mommy does it all the time, and I hate it." Bell complained as she slapped Kana's paws away.

Kana let out a laugh and patted the little girl's head. "Okay, sorry, I won't do that anymore. "

Kana got up and dusted herself off, and looked around. "But still, I am kind of lost how I even got here or where I came from."

Bell seemed to sympathize with Kana because she walked over and gave Kana a hug. "Why not come home with us? Then you can play with Bell."

"Bell! What are you saying!?" The young woman finally came back to her senses and yelled out.

"No! Mommy Kana will come home with us! Bell wants friends too." Bell held on to Kana tightly, not wanting to let go.

Kana was stunned by the little girl's refusal to let go but seeing her like this for some reason made her feel nostalgic. She didn't know why she felt this way, but she did. "Bell's mom. If it is okay with you, please allow me to accompany Bell for a bit. I do not need to go back to your home but while the sun is still high in the sky, let me indulge her for a little while longer."

The young woman was unsure of what to say. The large white lizard did not look like it wanted to cause her daughter harm and, for some reason, felt the large white lizard genuinely wanted to indulge her daughter's whims. But what's more, she felt that the large white lizard was looking warmly at her daughter. "I…"

"Mommy, please let me play with Kana for a little longer if she can not come home with us!" Bell suddenly ran over to her mother and pulled on the hem of her skirt. Her big round eyes tearing up.

The young woman finally caved as she let out a sigh. She couldn't resist her daughter when she begged like that. "Alright, for a little longer."

"Yay! Thank you, mommy! Kana, did you hear? My mommy said we can play together!" Bell ran over and dived onto Kana and hugged her tightly.

Kana smiled and gently patted the little girl's head. She looked at Bell's mother and said: "Your daughter is very sweet. You are blessed."

"I…" The woman was a bit surprised by the praise and blushed slightly as her lips curled up into a bright smile: "Yes, I am. She is my life."

Kana and Bell played for about two hours when the sun began to set. Bell hung on to Kana's neck when the time came for her to part, not wanting to let go. "Mommy, let's bring Kana back with us! Please! Please!"

"I…" The young woman looked at Kana and let out a sigh. She could tell after seeing how careful the large white lizard was playing with her daughter that it meant no harm. And she also found it fairly cute. "Kana was it? Do you really have no place to go?"

"Mmm… It's fine. I can sleep outside. You should hurry home with Bell before it gets dark." Kana smiled as she pulled Bell off her and gave her a small push towards her mom. "Bell, go home with your mom. Make sure you behave okay?"

"But…" Bell looked at Kana, tears welling up in her eyes. Before reluctantly nodding her head and walking over to her mother.

Bell's mother looked at Kana and felt guilt taking over. "Kana come on, you can come to."

"Mommy, really? Kana can come!?" Bell was filled with excitement as she hugged her mom and ran back over to Kana and grabbed her paw and pulled on her to get Kana to follow her.

Kana gave the young woman a questioning look as if asking if it was really okay. The young woman smiled and nodded her head. "You are not dangerous from what I can tell and Bell seems attached to you." Although she was saying this on the outside, inside she was hoping she was not making a grave mistake.
