Chapter 539 - Requesting Assistance Part 1

"Hmmm… this seems like the place." Creige was hovering over an empty ocean with a single vortex of water swirling around in calm waters. He floated down and hovered over the center of the vortex. "I guess it is all or nothing. Playing safe will not allow me to break the bonds of mortality when I reach the sea of stars."

Taking a deep breath and letting it out slow, Creige waved his hand and wrapped himself in dark element before slowly lowering himself into the vortex. He could hear the rushing water as it slammed into his dark element barrier. Although one could not see in, it was easy for Creige to see out so he could see directly below him. His lips curled up when he saw the ancient city below. This was his target. He had read an ancient text from an ancient temple that talked about a city under the ocean. While this city was now taken over by the ocean's wildlife it was still well preserved.

As Creige landed, he walked to the center of the city where an old fountain now covered in sea life stood… "According to that ancient text, there should be a temple here that resembles the one I visited before. The temple of the water god."

Creige walked the ancient streets. The fish and other sea life quickly dispersed when he came near. When he got to the end of one of the streets, he saw a broken down building that was hard to discern. If he had not been looking around carefully, he was sure he would have missed it. He walked over to the rubble and began digging through it until he finally came across a door hidden in the floor. He pried it open to reveal a set of stairs leading down.

When he stepped on the stairs and began making his way down, he felt as if he had passed through some kind of membrane. But once his head passed through the entrance to the stairwell, he realized what was going on. "A kind of seal to keep the water out… Very interesting."

He continued down the stairs to see that there were no signs of deterioration to the walls or the steps. They all seemed to be in a pristine fashion. They were all painted blue and had murals of some ancient race fighting battles against grand monsters. But these ancient drawings were not what Creige was here for. Unlike Angelica, who would have spent many years reading, taking in the majesty of the drawings, he continued down the stairs until he reached the end, where a large metal door stood in front of him. Before he could even open the door, a voice entered his mind. "Come on in if you are here."

Creige lips curled up on his handsome face as she pushed the door open. What stood before him was a grand hall filled with more ancient drawings and sculptures. But besides that, there was a person sitting on a chair and in front of him was a chessboard. He looked at Creige and motioned with his hand for Creige to sit. "You knew I would come."

"This I did. After all, I see everything." The man whose eyes were completely white said with a smile he looked young, but the way he carried himself said different. It was as if he was a man full of wisdom. "Sit and play a game with me. I do get tired of playing by myself."

"Then I will do just that." Creige did not stand on ceremony as he sat down in the chair. As he did, a wooden construct that looked like a broom with arms walked over and placed a cup of tea on the small table next to Creige. "Thank you."

The wooden construct bowed and stood off to the side. The man smiled and waved his hand, causing the pieces on the chessboard to set up properly. "Do you mind If I go first?"

Creige smiled and nodded his head. "That's fine by me."

"You are a calm man. You came down here and came in on my invitation. Are you not afraid that I will kill you?" The man asked.

"Why should I be afraid? You already knew I would be coming anyway. If you truly wished for me to die, you would not have allowed me to come here and sent one of your creations to kill me. But you won't do that, would you, Tian" Creige moved his pawn after Tian moved.

"This is true. I can not kill you as you are now her husband. But I wonder how did you discover so much?" Tian asked.

"Anything to do with my wife, I will always know. However, it was not easy to find this information. Tian, the Universal Beast of Time, one of the four heavenly beings. Monsters that were born from beyond the sea of stars, Aurora." Creige replied as he moved his rook.

"It must have taken you much time. There are very few texts in existence that speak of me being with the goddess of death as her contracted beast. Most would only be found in Aurora itself." Tian smiled as he moved his bishop.

"I have a daughter that is obsessed with ancient texts. I just happened to read about it and remembered something I saw in a temple once. After rechecking the temple, I found this place." Creige paused as he moved his queen. "I wish to ask, favor of you."

"You want me to protect your daughter?" Tian asked.

"Yes. Angelica was given a task to kill the goddess of life from that old bastard himself. I wish to ask you for your assistance in this. While my daughter is able to manipulate the souls of those around her she is still far too weak to fight alone against the goddess of life. I wanted to ask you to form a temporary contract and assist her in her fight."
