Coming to her senses, Ruby Green’s eyes widened with disbelief.
How could Mr. Piers actually be defending this fatty, Abigail Green?
Why?
And how else was she supposed to show sincerity when she had already apologized?
Abigail’s eyes landed on Brandon Piers. What was this man doing, stirring up resentment for her?
Was he actually abandoning his fiancée?
“Officers, what is the legal response for slander and intentional harm?” Seeing no reaction from the crowd, Brandon Piers looked at Ben and Mark.
Being cued, Ben and Mark simultaneously swallowed hard and replied in unison, “The ones guilty of this crime receive up to three years in jail, detention, control, or deprivation of political rights.”
“In that case, no need. Ruby is my fiancée, it would be wrong to put her in jail. How about she slaps herself twice instead.” After finishing, he looked up to Abigail, “Fatty, she’s your sister, you aren’t going to charge her, are you?”
‘Fatty’, my ass.
Abigail forced a smile, “Of course not. If Mr. Piers suggests a slap, let’s go with a slap.”
“Why should I slap…”
“Shut up.” Ruby Green didn’t think Brandon Piers would ask her to slap herself as an apology to Abigail – how could she have fallen so low as to apologize to this fat bitch, or even strike herself. However, before she could protest, she was cut short by Rose Taylor.
Ruby Green’s eyes filled with tears, not only from humiliation but also due to Brandon’s attitude.
“Dad…” Ruby Green looked at Lincoln Green with a sorrowful face. Lincoln had always adored her.
Lincoln Green matched her gaze of helplessness and wanted to speak. But seeing Brandon Piers’ smug look and his own biological daughter standing cold next to him, he swallowed his words and said instead, “Ruby, Mr. Piers is only doing what’s best for you.”
“Dad, I…” Ruby Green’s eyes filled with disbelief. Was this really her stepfather who usually adored her and took pride in her?
Surely they were all deceptive fakes.
If he were really doing what’s best for her, he should have thrown this fat bitch, Abigail, into prison.
Because of the humiliation and unexpected turn of events, Ruby Green found it hard to maintain her innocent look. Rose Taylor quickly intervened; this apology had to be made, the slaps should be given, but Ruby simply could not be seen in a bad light.
Slap! Slap!
Just as Ruby Green was casting hateful looks at Abigail, Rose Taylor had crawled by her side and slapped her twice on her contorted face.
She hit her quite hard.
Ruby Green was taken aback by the slap. Her cheeks quickly swelled red and she stared blankly at her mother.
However, Rose Taylor had already turned, eyes full of tears, “Husband, I should have taught our child better…” she couldn’t even finish her sentence before sobbing uncontrollably.
Brandon Piers put down his teacup, his gaze focused on Abigail as if asking, satisfied now?
Abigail didn’t expect Rose to be so decisive. No wonder she had Lincoln Green wrapped around her finger and had played the original owner till his death.
Such tactics!
Fortunately, she hadn’t pulled out the video today, otherwise, who knows how badly this woman would have bitten back.
If she had thrown out false accusations about ghosts, it wouldn’t matter if anyone believed her, this trashy father would have cleared the house for this woman in advance.
Ignoring Brandon Piers’ gaze, Abigail looked at Ruby Green whose cheeks had swelled red and eyes rampant with resentment, “Ruby, are you okay? We are family after all, auntie was a little too harsh. But we have an engagement banquet in two months, you need to take care of this injury. In the future, don’t be so naive, believing just anyone’s words.”
“You fat bitch…”
“Mr. Piers.” Abigail suddenly looked up.
Ruby Green instinctively looked at Brandon Piers only to see that he had already stood up. She whispered urgently, “Mr. Piers, I didn’t…”
“Fatty is right.”
Ruby Green’s cheeks throbbed in pain. She almost suffocated from anger at his words!
Why did she sense something affectionate in the way he called Abigail a ‘fatty’?
