Chapter 548: Kabuto’s Lair Part-2

Hiss…

The little white snake that Kabuto released quickly slithered through the gaps and holes in the wall and reaches the rooms on the second floor.

It nimbly moves through the floor without triggering any trap or formation. The snake enters a room.

Inside the room, several human test subjects float inside multiple containment capsules with green nutrition liquid.

"It's time to wake them up!"

The snake hisses and quickly strikes a capsule.

The glass panel of the capsule shatters and the nutrition liquid gushes out, flooding the floor.

The snake swiftly strikes other glasses and shatters the remaining containment capsules.

The katana pierces through the tail of the snake and pins it on the wall.

However, the next instant, the white snake sheds its skin and escapes after losing some blood.

Sasuke quickly flickers towards the spot. He removes his katana from the wall and glances and wipes the blood from it.

"Sasuke, be careful!"

The next second, a giant water ball strikes Sasuke's position.

Sasuke jumps out of the attack and glances at his attacker.

A person with several fish scales and fins around his body walks out of the room.

The person opens his mouth to reveal several pointed teeth in his mouth.

He charges another giant water ball and launches it towards the group.

The group dodges the water ball and glances at the human-fish enigma in front of them.

More mutated abominations walk out of the room. Some of them have shark fins and scales, others have octopus tentacles around their body, while there are even a few with reptilian features among the group.

"There are more coming from other directions!" Yuri's face turns pale as she senses several chakra signatures rapidly approaching them from other directions.

"All of them are a result of Orochimaru's experimentation." Itachi clicks on his tongue.

Sasuke burns the human-fish person to ashes with his Amaterasu.

"There are shinobis from all five nations and other small villages. This guy just now was a member of the Hozuki clan." Sasuke shakes his head as he chops the head of another shark-head shinobi with a lightning blade.

"Their scales are tough and shallow wounds recover almost immediately. Normal weapons are useless against them."

The anbu group wields the special chakra weapon provided to them by the villager weapon research department.

Their weapons light up like a lightsaber, the instant they infuse their chakra into the blades.

The anbus surrounds the members of the barrier-breaking team and the Uzu clan members to protect them in the ensuing chaos.

One of the anbu members swings the chakra blade and it chops the hard carapace of a chitinous monster like a hot knife cutting through the butter.

"Woah, these weapons are so powerful!" The anbu members gasp in surprise.

"Be careful. These weapons cost more than your annual salary." The vice-commander of the anbu team jokes.

The anbu carefully clenches their blades at the remark.

"Relax, I was joking. This first blade won't cost you anything. However, if you broke it or lost, you won't get another blade for free." He shakes his head and focuses his attention on the enemies in front of them.

The vice-captain was a former member of the same team as Izuna in anbu. So, he along with other anbus of that team picked up Izuna's habit of cracking jokes to lighten up the mood in direct combat.

While the anbu group was fighting, another group of test subjects with snake-like features opens their mouth and spits out a green gas toward them.

"It's poison!"

Itachi frowns as the poison cloud rapidly spread in the area.

"Inject the all-purpose antidote!"

The anbu quickly injects another dose of an all-purpose antidote within their body. They even provide them to the Uzu clan members who were showing signs of poisoning.

"I will help restrain them. Please finish them off!"

Yuri takes the initiative and moves forward.

Amaterasu differs from the usual fire since it doesn't require oxygen to burn things.

Sasuke stabs the throat of a shinobi with the modifications of a cockroach.

"This is the last person." Sasuke glances at the still-twitching body of the dead shinobi.

"The enemies are getting stronger with each floor." Itachi frowns.

"Orochimaru's modifications made these shinobis, these chunnins, and genins as strong as an elite jounin. We have to be more careful along the way."

The group takes a breath of respite to recover. During the battle, a few of the anbus got injured by the claws, fangs, or stingers of the enemies. Although the antidote protected them from the poison, the wounds are still there on the body.

The medic-nin of the group uses the 'Mystic Palm Technique' to heal their wounds.

"What's this glow?" Yuri takes an interest in the 'Mystic Palm Technique'.

The medic-nin explains the details to her and after some trials, Yuri also picks up the technique.
