Chapter 1340 It All Becomes Clear

Kisa sat on the chair, confounded. ‘So, Gilbert didn’t lie to me; Andrew and Ada really are my children. But whose baby did I see back then which was all purple and breathless? No. That baby was also mine. I could clearly feel the baby being taken out of my belly at that time. So, was I carrying triplets? Who was it that saved me from the fire-Adrien or Jensen? If Jensen was really working for Adrien all along, then perhaps I’d fallen into a trap from the moment I was rescued from the fire. They might have been setting me up from that moment on.”

The more she thought about it, the more chilled and shocked she felt. All her past speculations, assumptions, and everything that she had thought of as the truth until now had all been. overturned. ‘The people I trusted and relied on were scheming against and harming me, and the man I hated and resented so much never hurt me. Gilbert is the only person who has never schemed against me.’

She covered her face with her hands as tears seeped out between her fingers. I hated and resented Gilbert for so many years, but it turned out to be a joke. Why did Jensen help Adrien set me up when he had obviously treated me so well? Kisa had mixed feelings when she thought of Jensen, who was now lying unconscious in a coma. ‘Who was responsible for the prison fire- Adrien, Sharon, or both? Why am I such an important target that they all want to conspire against me?

In the car, Gilbert had smoked three cigarettes. He had restrained himself because he did not want to leave too strong a smell of cigarette smoke in the car. But after waiting for a long time, Kisa still had not come out of the cafe. He checked the time; it had been half an hour since Lea left.

‘What exactly did Lea say to her? Why is she still sitting there? What is she thinking? He could not see Kisa’s face from his angle. But he could feel his heavy heart. Gilbert pursed his lips and stepped out of the car, but he did not enter the cafe. He just leaned against the car door and gazed at her from afar, wanting to see how long she was going to sit inside.

After a long while, Kisa got up from the chair, her eyes red and her face pale. Perhaps she had been sitting for too long; she felt her legs go numb. She held onto the table and walked toward the exit. She was beside herself. After going a few steps, as if remembering something, she turned back to pick up her handbag from the chair. Her eyes were vacant, and her steps were wobbly.

Gilbert frowned and came up to her just as she walked out. Upon seeing her pale face, he asked,” What’s wrong? Did Lea say something bad to you?*

Kisa slowly looked up into his eyes and saw the affection in his eyes. Previously, every time Gilbert looked at her with those affectionate eyes, she would snicker in her mind, thinking that he was acting, faking that expression despite not loving her. But it turned out his gentle expressions had been genuine all along.

He loved her, he really loved her

“Gilbert.” She called out to him softly as she collapsed into his embrace, her strength leaving her body
