Chapter 1374 A Man’s Pride at Work

Gilbert had previously mentioned to Mr. Mullen Sr. about visiting the ‘restricted area’. Mr. Mullen Sr. told him he would think about it, but no one knew if he had decided yet.

Thinking of Gilbert, Kisa seemed somewhat distracted. Gilbert had not been seen around the Mullen residence for several days, nor had he contacted her through calls or messages. Felicity had called her a few times but did not bring up Gilbert, and neither had Kisa asked. At one time, she thought that Gilbert and Davian had returned to Calthon, which would be good, because she would not have to say anything hurtful to gain Adrien’s trust

Half a month later, Vivian could finally stand up, but still could not walk. The mere act of standing up brought tears of joy to her.

Kisa said to her happily, “I believe you’ll be walking soon.”

Vivian nodded excitedly.

Kelvin was leaning in his chair and said with relief, “It’s better than I expected. This way I can heal you as soon as possible and go back to see my Gracie. I’ve been missing her for a month now.” Kelvin gazed at the sky and spoke with a dreamy look, as if he was missing Gracie.

Kisa shook her head and chuckled. “Men really shouldn’t leave home, or they will end up with lovesickness.”

As the sun was setting, Kelvin did another thorough check-up on Vivian. Adrien took Kisa to the rock garden. He had been visiting Vivian frequently in the past few days, and today, he even stayed with them the entire afternoon. Adrien leaned against the rock and smoked. Kisa looked at him and asked with puzzlement, “Uncle Adrien, what is wrong? Is something the matter?”

“I heard Gilbert has returned to Calthon.”

Kisa froze for a second, then quickly concealed her emotions, pretending to be surprised. “What? He has gone back to Calthon?”

“He’s been gone for a few days now. How come he has told you?”

“No, he hasn’t contacted me since I tried to kill him. I guess he is not interested in pretending in front of me anymore.”

“Don’t think too much.” Adrien took a puff of his cigarette and said in a low voice, “First, you go back to Calthon. Trust me, no matter what, you have to stay by his side.”

“But he knows I want to kill him. Would he still let me stay by his side?” Kisa asked with uncertainty.

Adrien kindly patted her head and chuckled. “Yes, trust me. As long as you shamelessly stay by his side, he won’t chase you away.”

“Why?” Kisa asked deliberately.

“Because…” Adrien stared at her puzzled face, laughing, “It is a man’s pride at work. A woman who wants to take revenge on him only ignites his desire for conquest. Didn’t you say that even after you tried to kill him, he still pretended to be deeply in love with you in front of you? That proves that he doesn’t want to end this ‘conquest game yet. And the day you really fall in love with him and let go of your hatred, that will be his victory day, and the day he tramples on you. Do you understand?”

Although she knew Adrien was deliberately trying to convince her to hate Gilbert, she felt that there was a bit of truth in what he said.

She frowned and nodded, as if she suddenly understood. “I got it.”

“So, when do you plan to go back to Calthon?” Adrien stared into her eyes and smiled. “You said before that it was because of your friend that you were here. Now that should have come to an end, right?”
