Chapter 1409 He Returned Late at Night

“My eyes fooled me? What do you mean? Do you think I’m so crazy that I couldn’t even recognize Sara? Or do you think that I’m intentionally putting the blame on her? Huh?”

“That’s not what I’m saying, Kisa.” Kelvin frowned and said, “It’s just… There’s no way that Sara would hide there. And, even if what you say is true, even if she was really there, there’s no way she’s capable of doing those things. She’s so kind; she wouldn’t even dream of hurting a fly. There’s no way she could have done all that to put our life in danger.”

‘Hah. Even Kelvin has a high opinion of her. Gilbert, who has always seen her as an angel, would never believe me.’ Kisa suddenly became a little frustrated.

She lowered her head and said weakly, “You should go.”

Kelvin felt for her when he saw how dejected she looked. When they were younger, Gilbert had always treated this woman coldly, which made him dislike her as well. He had always thought that Gilbert and Sara would end up together. After knowing that Kisa had played Gilbert, Kelvin hated and despised her even more.

However, after getting along for this short period of time, he realized that it was all a misunderstanding. Gilbert’s feelings for Kisa once puzzled Kelvin, but now, he was certain that he loved her.

Yet, it was still unbelievable that Sara would have done such a thing. Kelvin needed time to process this information. “Don’t worry, Kisa. I’ll look into it,” he said.

“The basement is destroyed, and that woman has disappeared without a trace. No one in the Mullen family knew about the existence of that woman in the past six years, except for Mr. Mullen Sr. And now, he’s dead. How are you going to ‘look into it’? Haha,” Kisa sneered.

“Well, that’s what I’m saying. No one knew about her for six years. If she really was there, I’m sure they would have found out. It sounds far-fetched. That’s why I’m having such a hard time believing you.”

“Yeah. Okay. I don’t blame you for not believing in me. You should go now,” Kisa uttered with a faint smile, but Kelvin could not get past what she said.

“Don’t do that, Kisa. Maybe you should tell Gilbert about this. If he believes you, then I will too.”

Kisa glanced at him and said, “Does Gracie know how unopinionated you are?”

“This is not about a lack of judgment, Kisa. It just sounds unreal. You better tell Gilbert about it first since… Sara was his lover back then. I have no reason to go against you if he believes you.”

Kisa looked down and laughed self-deprecatingly. “You said it yourself; he loved her. How would he ever believe that she would do such a thing if you don’t even believe me now?”

Kisa was getting tired. She looked up and sighed as she firmly said, “Forget it. It doesn’t matter if you don’t believe me. Sooner or later, I will let that woman show her true colors, just like I did with Sharon.”

Kelvin did not say anything when she saw how determined she was. He wanted to believe her, but all his memories of Sara said otherwise.

That night, Gilbert carried Kisa to the bed in his arms. However, the man’s embrace was cold. After putting her on her bed, he prepared to leave without a word. Kisa knew where he was going. He went to the study next door to work. He had been like that for the past few days and only returned to their room late at night. Gilbert thought Kisa was asleep all that time, but she was aware whenever he entered the room.

When the man turned around to leave, Kisa subconsciously reached out and grabbed him by the arm.
