Chapter 1426

Chapter 1426 You’re Going to Be a Good Girl, Aren’t You?

Gilbert was being stared down by the three children.

Andrew said, “Daddy, you can’t be so harsh on Ma’am.”

Ada said, “Daddy, Ma’am is pregnant. You need to be more considerate.”

Blake said, “Uncle Gilbert, you got to be gentle with Ma’am. She’s not feeling well.”

Kisa was so touched by the children’s defense of her that she was on the verge of tears.

But Gilbert did not let the moment linger, he addressed the children with all seriousness. “I’m doing this for her own good. Do you want to see her looking all pale and gaunt? Or your future little bro or sis all skin and bones?”

The three little ones all shook their heads in unison.

“So, what do you think? Should Ma’am be a good girl and drink her soup?” Gilbert asked.

Again, the three little ones nodded in agreement and turned to look at Kisa.

“Ma’am, Daddy’s right. You got to drink your soup quick.” Andrew piped up.

“Ma’am, it is for the baby’s sake. Even if you can’t swallow it all, you’ve got to try.” Ada added. “Ma’am, Uncle Gilbert is only being tough on you because he cares,” Blake said.

Kisa could not help but roll her eyes, immediately retracting the emotions she had just felt.

“Alright, enough with the drama. Drink up already.” Madalyn snapped, her words always so cutting and sharp.

Kisa let out a sigh and fished out the pork ribs and lotus root from the soup bowl. Without further ado, she tilted her head back and chugged the soup down in one big gulp.

Madalyn scoffed, “See, you can drink it just fine. You were just being dramatic earlier.”

Kisa could not be bothered with Madalyn’s teasing. She had already finished her large bowl of soup and was full. As she was about to leave, Gilbert’s cold voice drifted toward her. “You have to eat the meat and other stuff too so my child can grow properly.”

“I’m full…”

“You’ll be a good girl for me, won’t you?” Gilbert suddenly looked at her with a faint smile.

Kisa clenched her fists secretly. ‘Good lord, is he really threatening me with his promise to bring me to Oceanville?’ She swallowed her pride and forced a smile, “Uh huh, I was just thinking about wanting some meat too.”

Gilbert smiled. “It’s good to have a good appetite. Eat more.” He then added several pieces of pork and steamed meat to her bowl.

As Kisa looked at the half-eaten bowl of meat, she squeezed out a word through her teeth,” Thanks.”

Gilbert smiled casually. “You’re welcome.”

Madalyn watched their expressions back and forth and had a feeling that something had changed between them after they went out.

Later that night, Kisa played with the children in the toy room for a while before sending them to bed after they had taken a bath. When she returned to her room, it was already past ten o’clock and Gilbert was not there.

‘He must be in the study,’ she thought to herself. Remembering his promise to take her to Oceanville if she behaved, Kisa limped downstairs without a cane in hand. She could finally walk without the cane now, but her gait was still a little awkward.

After some tinkering in the kitchen, she cooked a bowl of chicken soup and slowly made her way to the study with the bowl in hand. As she approached the door, she heard faint voices inside. She tiptoed forward, almost pressing her whole body against the door, and finally heard Gilbert and Madalyn talking about her.

“I noticed that you’re acting differently toward that woman this time. Have you finally let go of your obsession with her?” Madalyn sat on a chair next to the desk and laughed at Gilbert.

Gilbert leaned against the back of the chair, staring absentmindedly at the lamp on the ceiling as if lost in thought.

After a while, when Gilbert still had not answered, Madalyn could not help but stomp her crutch and ask angrily, “I asked you a question. What are you thinking about?”
