‘Just as I thought..."

Kisa's heart was a tangled mess as she cast her eyes downward.

David sneered.

"You know Gilbert's been hurting you all along, right? Meanwhile, my son risked his life to save you, but you still chose Gilbert. And then there is the old bat.Just because Gilbert likes you, she crushed my son's dreams and kicked him out of the country.Even now, that old bat is still selfish as hell."

Suddenly, David bent down and glared at her.

"If you had to choose again, who would you pick?"

Without a moment's hesitation, Kisa looked up and replied, "Gilbert.I would still choose Gilbert."

David stood up straight, laughing bitterly.

"Damn, you are heartless, just like your mom."

"Favor and feelings are two different things.Jensen saved my life, and I would do the same for him.But emotions can't be forced."

"Right, you can't force it.She only stayed with me because she felt obligated. That was why she was able to move on so easily with Christopher. But she always loved Damon the most.No one else mattered to her, just Damon."

"That's not true..."

"Enough!"

David cut her off, his voice turning icy.

"All I want to know is where Mrs.Kooper Sr.is.Tell me, and I won't hurt you."

Kisa scowled, wondering why Madalyn was not with David and who else would have taken her.

Seeing Kisa's silence, David sneered.

"Fine, if you won't talk, I'll just tell Gilbert where you are.He can decide whether or not to trade his grandma for you and your baby." Kisa scoffed.

There was no way Gilbert would use his own grandmother as a pawn in this twisted game. She did not even need to think about that one.

As David left, Kisa caught sight of the bodyguards stationed at the door. novelbin

She sprang to her feet and made her way to the window, casting her gaze over the unfamiliar mansion's surroundings.

Everywhere she looked, there were guards patrolling the yard.

It was evident that David intended to hold her captive and use her as leverage against Gilbert.

But she was no ace in the hole; she could not threaten Gilbert in any way.She could not stay trapped here forever, though. She had to find a way out.

David's seething resentment stemmed from her mother's supposed ‘betrayal’.

‘If I can retrieve Mom's notebook from the Kooper residence and show David her true heart, then perhaps his animosity would dissipate. But how the hell could I get out?' Kisa thought.

As she scanned the guards outside the gate, a pang of despair crept over her face.

Days ticked by, and the mansion remained eerily quiet.

David did not make any major moves, leaving Kisa to fret over the fates of Gilbert and Madalyn.

She scoured the news on her phone, but it only reported on GK's acquisition, revealing nothing about Gilbert or Madalyn. She still had no clue whether Gilbert had found Madalyn.

Kisa had tried calling him, but he never answered.

She had even reached out to Kelvin and Davian, but they remained tight-lipped about Gilbert, giving her no answers.

As dinner approached, David sauntered back into the room, delivering a plate of nutritious food to her.

Even though she was his captive, David did not skimp on her meals.

She began to see that he was not all bad, merely consumed by his resentments and seeking a sense of justice.

"Go on, eat up..," David instructed, plunking the dish down in front of her without further ado.

Kisa leveled a sharp gaze in his direction.
