Chapter 1530

"How dare you come here?" The voice belonged to Kelvin.

He marched toward Kisa, his face brimming with intense animosity, "You've already caused Mrs.Kooper Sr."s death, and now you want to harm Gilbert too? Have you no conscience? Get out, now!"

Kelvin shooed her away, stopping just short of using force.

Kisa knew she had committed grave wrongs and didn't argue.

Instead, she pleaded with Kelvin, "Please, let me see him."

"See him? You mean to torment him? Get out now!"

Kisa was chased all the way to the courtyard entrance by Kelvin when suddenly, Sara's voice echoed from a second-floor window.

"Let her come up."

Kisa furrowed her brow, surprised to find that Sara was there too.

In the room, Gilbert sat emotionless in a chair, his eyes devoid of any warmth or vitality.

Sara was the first to approach Kisa.

"Kisa, I'm so glad you're okay. It's hard to believe that you survived such a dangerous explosion."

Kisa responded sarcastically, "Well, you survived too."

Sara suddenly became somber.

"Yes, we all did, but sadly not Gilbert's grandma.I wish it had been me who died instead so she could have been okay."

The woman's pretense disgusted Kisa.

Just as she was about to make a sarcastic comment, Gilbert spoke up.

"You can leave us alone for now."

He was addressing Sara, who obediently nodded and closed the door behind her as she left.

Gilbert stood up and slowly walked toward Kisa.

"What do you want to say to me?"

Kisa found herself speechless as she faced his cold expression. He suddenly let out a bitter laugh, full of sorrow.

"My parents are dead.My grandmother is gone. All the people I loved most are no longer here."

Kisa subconsciously clenched her hand, her heart aching.

"I'm sorry," she choked.

"If I had known that my presence would lead to your parents’ deaths, I would have—"

"What would you have done?" Gilbert sneered.

"Even if you had known, what could you change? It's not your fault; it's fate, an accident. But I still hate you.Everything happened because of you."

His last words were filled with more hatred than ever before.Kisa sobbed, covering her mouth.

This was the most despairing aspect of her situation: the cruel, unchangeable truth.

"And what about Grandma? If you hadn't teamed up with David against me, if you hadn't betrayed her hiding place to him, how could she have died?"

"No.Not like that."

Although she couldn't completely escape responsibility for Madalyn's death, the main cause was Sara.

"I didn't betray her hiding place. It was Sara who was conspiring with David all along, along with your uncle.Even in the warehouse, she knew about the small door in the back, but when I led your grandma there, she locked it from the outside.Sara is the one who truly killed her."

Gilbert closed his eyes and shook his head, his face filled with disgust and contempt.

"Even now, you still want to frame others. Can't you survive without doing that?"

"I'm not," Kisa argued, desperate to defend herself against the accusation about Madalyn's death.

‘But what good would it do? He wouldn't believe me.And even if he does, how will it change anything? He could never get past the deaths of his parents" she thought.

As she gazed upon the cold, hate-filled expression on Gilbert's face, her heart ached so intensely that it felt as if she were suffocating.

Struggling to hold back her tears, she asked, "Is there truly no hope for us, for the rest of our lives?"
