Chapter 1352 This Woman Has the Nerves of Steel

Kelvin had goosebumps all over his skin. He rubbed his arms as he came up to Kisa, frowning at her.” What’s wrong with you again? It is dark, and the courtyard is already eerie enough. You scared the hell out of me by shouting like that.”

“No. I just saw what looked like a glimpse of a person under this lamppost.”

It scared the daylights out of Kelvin. “Stop scaring me. How could there be anyone here?” Kelvin said, glancing around.

Besides the two of them, there was no one around. They had come from Vivian’s place, which was a bit far from the main building. There were many winding paths leading to various corners of the courtyard in between these two places. The spot they were at now was the most remote, most eerie, and most tree- lined section of the path.

But Kisa was sure she had really gotten a glimpse of someone under the streetlight and that someone must be hiding in the wood. Thinking about the eerie, malicious eyes that she felt every time previously, a thought came to her mind, and she said to Kelvin, “Can you go behind those trees and see if there is anyone there?”

“I’m not going.” Kelvin refused at once. It was pitch black and scary in there, and there could be some monsters hiding in the dark. He wrapped his arms around himself, as the more he thought about it, the more terrified he felt.

“Come on Kisa. Gilbert is waiting for you in the room,” Kelvin said, reaching to tug on her coat.

But Kisa had questions. She knew she would regret it if she did not find out what it was. “You wait here. I’ll go in there and take a look.”

With that, she turned on her phone’s flashlight and walked into the wood.

Kelvin watched on and was speechless by how gutsy Kisa was but was also worried that if something happened to her, Gilbert would come after him. He sighed helplessly and reluctantly followed her.

He also turned on his flashlight. The two of them walked one after the other, with Kisa in front and Kelvin behind. Kelvin was shivering, as if he was in fear.

Kisa glanced back at him and snickered. “When we get back to Calthon, I’ll have Gracie take you to the haunted house at the amusement parks more often.”

“I’m not going. Gracie knows I can’t handle those things. She won’t take me there.”

“Oh, yeah?” Kisa let out an evil smile. “I’ll ask her out to have fun then. I think she’ll bring you along.”

Kelvin’s face sank. “You’re just like Gilbert, evil to the core.”

As the two talked, the atmosphere felt less scary. Kisa scanned the surroundings with the help of her phone’s flashlight, but she found nothing. Kelvin did not dare to do so, as he was afraid to see ‘scary things’. He knew that it was all in his head, but he was still afraid.

Coming out of the wood, Kisa looked puzzled. “That’s strange. Was I mistaken?”

“You must be hallucinating. Come on, who would hide in the woods?” Kelvin said, dragging her back toward the main building. This time he let Kisa walk in front of him lest she got paranoid again.

But Kisa was still baffled, doubting whether she was wrong and hallucinating. She felt a bit anxious, wondering if she would have that nightmare again tonight.

Back in the main building, Kelvin was visibly relieved.

He brought Kisa straight to Gilbert and said bemusedly, “I’ve brought her back to you safe and sound. I’m going to my room now. Don’t make me walk with her at night again. I’m afraid she’ll scare me to death.”
